BEB5 Tsuchiura by Hoshino Resorts

Stayed here twice (once at the start and at the end of my trip around ibaraki prefecture) the rooms are spacious with separate bath and toilet. Loft beds were cosy and fun for kids. Had soooo much fun doing the bicycle blender smoothie too! This hotel is a steal! The staff are helpful with using the self check-in machines. They were so kind to keep a huge carton of souvenirs for me throughout the week so that I could travel around without lugging it along. There’s a small convenience store just next to the hotel entrance, various other food options are available across the street.

We had an amazing four-night stay at Hoshino Resort BEB5 Tsuchiura, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, the front counter staff greeted us with warmth and friendliness, making us feel at home right away. They were always available to assist, offering helpful recommendations for local attractions and cycling routes, which made our stay even more enjoyable. What makes this resort stand out is its unique location—right at Tsuchiura Train Station! The convenience of stepping off the train and being just steps away from the hotel was unbeatable. Whether we wanted to explore the town or embark on a cycling adventure, everything was within easy reach. As cycling enthusiasts, we loved the resort’s bicycle-friendly atmosphere. The resort is designed with cyclists in mind, allowing us to park our bikes right outside our room for easy access. The bicycle-themed decor throughout the hotel added a fun, unique touch that complemented the area’s love for cycling. The location near Lake Kasumigaura made for some breathtaking rides, and the resort’s thoughtful amenities—like secure bike storage, repair services, and detailed cycling maps—made it an ideal stay for anyone who loves cycling. We left feeling refreshed, well taken care of, and eager to return. Hoshino Resort BEB5 Tsuchiura is a perfect blend of convenience, comfort, and adventure for cycling enthusiasts and travelers alike.

I loved the rooms, location, design and price, however, the beds were low-quality. They basically soft foam disguised in a nice mattress. I was disappointed as you would expect great quality from Hoshino Resorts, but these mattresses were cheap. I woke up everyday with a stiff neck and sore back. They don't clean the rooms daily. I stayed 4 night and my trash was changed once. With a few changes, this could be a 5 star but I think they are cutting corners to save money and you will likely suffer for it.

Modern, clean hotel attached to JR station. Very popular with casual and serious cycles who use it as a base for cycling Kasumigaura Bay. Limited/no dining options in the hotel but plenty of places around the station.

Fancy cycling-themed hotel close to one of the most famous cycling routes in Japan, the Tsukuba Kasumigaura Ring Ring Road Located above the Tsuchiura Station, this hotel which caters to cyclists is very convenient if you plan to try one of the most famous cycling routes in Japan, the Tsukuba Kasumigaura Ring Ring Road. With clean, fancy and spacious rooms, cycling-themed large lobby with lots of tables and seats for group activities (e.g. playing cards) and some attractions to keep the children entertained (e.g. strawberry balls pool, strawberry tricycle photo spots), this hotel offers bicycle rental service and also organizes a water bicycle activity on the nearby river during the cherry blossom season. You have to book in advance as it's quite popular and quickly sells out. Extremely convenient for cyclists, bicycle racks and the like are provided. If you are not convinced by the rental service, you can head to the cycling shop on the ground floor, which offers a wide variety of accessories and bicycles, as well as rental service. I gave it four stars because I find it a little expensive for the location (i.e. in the end, Tsuchiura is in the middle of nowhere) and there is no way to open the room window. Additionally, they do not provide free parking spots for motorcycle, albeit I think they advertise this feature on the booking site.

Had a great stay at Hoshino Resorts BEB5 Tsuchiura. The staff was very warm and welcoming. The room was spacious and and very well appointed. A bonus for cyclist, some of the rooms are bicycle friendly. I look forward to visiting again.

Great location and great facility. The hotel is conveniently placed on top of the train station and it’s easy to reach by train from Tokyo. Many restaurant in the area. It’s very sports and activity oriented and has nice nature and cycle/running paths nearby, going around the lake shore. Enjoy your summer morning runs!

The perfect place to stay for a few relaxing days. Although it has a cycling theme, and would be perfect for cyclists, it caters well to any traveller.
