The price is very high for what you get. I believe we were massively overcharged. I don't consider this a hotel, but an old room in the city. The owner started to text us in the morning as he needed to know our arrival time. As we're on a road trip we could only have an estimate , but not an exact timing. He was very annoying and arrogant throughout the day and was angry as we arrived 15min later than estimated so he had to wait for us. He didn't speak a word of English so demanded that all texts where translated into Italian. The room is basic, outdated and poorly maintained. The view is great, although the noise from the street is highly noticeable. Take earplugs and an eye mask for light sleepers... Breakfast is the bare minimum. 2x microwaved croissants, jam, a jug of milk and a (incredible mini) espresso. and you can only choose between a slot of three timings. (07:45, 08:00, 08:15). The owner was quite verbally aggressive regarding the city tax, as he wanted this asap and in cash. He doesn't speak a word of English and wasn't a pleasant man. See pictures as reference to the oldness and dirtiness of the hotel.

Located in a busy square. This turned out to be a hole in the wall. Shabby and shady. Proper signage at the entrance would have helped. See photo. Just five rooms on the 7th Floor reached by an old ramshackle lift where you have to put in a 10 Euro cents coin to operate. I had to borrow a coin. Reception only till 4 pm, just got in at 4, given the key to the room, another to the hotel floor and yet another to the main entrance at the street level in case a guest wants to go out. One has to as there's no restaurant in the hotel. No staff at the hotel after 4 p.m. If there's any emergency, two telephone nos were given to call. Was told breakfast would be brought to the room at 8 a.m. It was. Tea/coffee making things were kept in a common area.||||The bath towels were the worst I have seen. So coarse and rough I thought they were bath mats. A child can easily scrape his skin with that kind of towel. The bath cubicle flooded in minutes as the bath water didn't drain out fast. The bathroom light comes on automatically when one enters and after a few minutes goes off unless there is movement in the wash basin and commode area. When I was under the shower the light went off and I had to get out dripping wet and show myself to the light!||||Utterly surprised that the star rating for this hotel is *** three stars!

The owner is fantastic, friendly, always available for anything you might need. Very welcoming atmosphere. The place always smells great, is very clean. Breakfast is delivered to your room according to your time & they are extremely generous. The service is better than 5 star hotels! Incredible!

Nice hotel, very reasonable value for money and at a great, central location. Clean with aircondition and great mattress that aided recovery from a day walking under the ruthless sun of Naples. Nice places to eat nearby, 3-5 minutes from metro/strain station. Breakfast was tasty, self-service and very conveniently you just took it in your room. Hotel even provided coins for the elevator in the building.

Staying 6 nights. To find-from main station walk to end of Piazza Garibaldi, it's a large dark green double door between Corso Guisseppe Garibaldi & Corso Umberto. Sign to right of doors. Must ring owner 1st/ doors are locked/owner met us outside. No English but he & his wife lovely/extemely helpful.Balcony in rooms with good views, spotlessly clean, large room, safe in room, toiletries in dispensers, air con great. Decorated well. The best WiFi we've had. Breakfast is toast, yogurts..enough for us. Convenient to main station /if going on Circumvesuviana train to Sorrento best to get on at Porta Nolana Station on Corso Guisseppe Garibaldi, which is last station and more seats available/pickpocket risk at main Garibaldi Station. This B&B close to both stations. Lots good restaurants in vicinity.City traffic but no problem to us as doors new & kept noise to a minimum. Will definitely stay again.

The room was good. Spacious, clean and had a view of the square. The breakfast consisted of pre-packaged baked treats, coffee, espresso and juice. However, the shower was lukewarm and the owner left much to be desired. The owner was unaccomodating, rude and will try to threaten and intimidate you if you leave a bad review of your experience. After my husband left a bad review he received an accusatory message from the owner saying he would "call the police and report him for stealing the hair dryer (that is PHYSICALLY attached to the wall) and the tv remote, and he will be known as a thief all over Italy! And won't be able to steal anymore". Honestly...just an unbelievably shocking representation of hospitality.

It was tricky to get into this place as we arrived late and do not speak Italian... We got lucky and managed to get in touch with the owner. Il Golfo is great value; the room was clean and quite large with a balcony opening up to great views. It is incredibly noisy while the door is open, but fine once it's closed.||Breakfast of an espresso and pastry is all you need and you are right across the road from the metro.
