I visited this restaurant based on the many positive reviews, expecting homemade, high-quality food — unfortunately, I was highly disappointed. While it’s true that the owner and her son are very kind and welcoming, the food itself was extremely poor, both in taste and presentation. I also had some concerns about the hygiene and overall management of the place, which left me feeling uneasy. It might be a decent spot to grab a cold beer, but as a place to enjoy a good meal, I definitely would not recommend it.

Close to our BnB, thought we’d try early breakfast before hike. Should have trusted intuition and left, but thought at first ‘quaint’ or maybe ‘home style.’ Place needs a deep clean and some serious loving. Overcharged for a very basic breakfast - toast w 2 eggs, (even husband didn’t finish his bacon), package butter. Only warm Nescafé, no real coffee. The poor mother coughing over everything in the kitchen. |Owner arrived on scooter with groceries, and no one washing hands in open kitchen, brings us orange juice (fresh squeezed, but the fact no one washing hands and sticky glasses). |It was more sad than anything else and sadly would not recommend. Wouldn’t pass inspection these days… |I wish them best of luck…

What a wonderful tavern. I don't know what is better, the price of the food and drinks or the loving, friendly family that runs Koka Roka. I was here for the first time in 1991 and now I'm back in 2024. It's like a little journey through time, away from the hustle and bustle and surrounded by the rocks of Meteora. If you're only passing by here on your way to or from a hike and don't stop for a rest, you will may have missed the best thing in Meteora besides the landscape. Every meal is personally prepared with love, no fast food, no rip-off. Some of the tastiest, best, cheapest and most lovingly prepared food I've had the pleasure of experiencing in many years in Greece. Here you feel like a friend and not just as a paying guest. It's really an amazing place to be in Meteora and yes in Greece too! Try it and you will enjoy it, for sure!

This place is awesome! The food was great, the sweet old lady is amazing, friendly and very hospitable. We are 1 minute away from our Air BNB and by far has been our favourite experience in Meteora. We came back from breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Unbelievable! I was walking past this place and approached the man, who I presume was the owner, and said politely "Hello, can I ask you a question?" To ask about the trail to the monastery nearby. Before I could ask though, the man simply said "No. I'm not interested". I thought he was joking but he wasn't, he went on doing what he was doing. I was speechless, he treated me like I was a door-to-door salesman or something. They run a hotel, I might have been asking if they have a room available. I can't say anything about the food there or their accommodations but if that behavior is any indication, I wouldn't eat or stay there under any circumstances. By far the rudest person I met in Greece. And really just baffling...

Don't know about the rooms, stopped there accidentally on the way down from the Holy Trinity monastery and kept coming again and again over the rest of the stay. Very cosy place with a home-like atmosphere. Simple little menu of good delicious dishes. Beautiful green terrace in a very peaceful location. It's steps away from the foot path to the monasteries, so a perfect pit stop. They open after 8am and is a nice place for a small breakfast. Just enjoy the quiet, views and don't forget to ask for a Greek coffee :)

After walking down from a monastery I stopped because I was lost. The woman that was sitting eating scoffed at me telling me "no service". I spoke to her in Greek explaining that I was lost and would like to sit for a few minutes to wait for my partner to find me. I asked if I could buy some water and again she scoffed saying "no service". When my partner arrived relieved to find me I walked to him to reassure him I was ok. She yelled at me to place the chair as I'd found it. I would ha e done this anyway had she waited a few seconds. Please, people like this do not deserve your time or money. Much better people and locations in the area.

We only ate here after a hike. The best taramasala we have had in the whole of Greece. The sausage and chicken are super tasty and local. Simple food, authentic flavours. Would defo come back.
