The location of this place is unbeatable, being right in the heart of Monistiraki. It's just a few minutes walk (easy walk) to the subway/metro which takes to straight to Piraeus or the airport. It's close enough to the action of Monistiraki to allow you to walk everywhere (restaurants, cafes etc) within a couple of minutes, and the Acropolis within 10min, but is off the main drag enough that it's peaceful in the evenings.
The hostel and surrounds felt safe, even late at night and for a woman traveling solo late at night and very early (before sunrise) in the morning.
I found the staff to be really kind and helpful. The attached cafe downstairs is a bonus if you want to grab a coffee before heading out and the kitchen seems pretty well-equipped.
I didn't realise that I had booked a bed that had it's own space (divided by curtains) so this was a really nice surprise! In fact all of the beds in my room had the same, except mine was right next to a covered exterior deck area which was really nice - it felt like a hotel room. The luggage storage was big and secure, enough space to fit a big suitcase I would say, though I only had a small one plus a backpack with me.
I found the bed and pillows comfortable. No towels provided but you can pay to rent if needed.
The bathroom was decent and I didn't have to wait at all to use the toilet or shower. There is one bathroom per floor and only one bedroom per floor, so I imagine there is rarely an issue with availability.
My only issue was one that could not be helped by the accommodation, and that is I had a snorer in the room. Even earbuds and music/podcast didn't help. So understand that the sections of the rooms, while private, are not soundproof. If this is going to be an issue for you or you really need to be assured of a good night's sleep, consider a hotel instead.
Besides this, I can't fault the place as far as hotels go. It's great value for money at just €9 and €19 respectively for the two nights I stayed.
