PROS - The location is fantastic & there's a small bar on-site with friendly bartenders. Rooms were reasonably clean. Linens, blanket, and towel provided. En suite bathrooms. A public bathroom is available free-of-charge, which is great if your room isn't yet ready & you want to hit the beaches.
CONS - You have to pay to store luggage, even if only waiting for your room to be readied. Related: they are adamant about not checking in before 3pm, even if rooms are ready.
Desk staff seem very apathetic (though I notice this fair is endemic to all of Miami Beach), and I have no idea what else you get with your booking because at no point did he give any spiel to that effect (I see from other reviews that they have breakfast? This is news to me).
Leaving luggage means "placing it by a closet door", where on one occasion the bags were still sitting out unwatched fifteen minutes later. Owing to that the closet is unlocked & the staff aren't very attentive, I was able to walk in and get stuff from my bags without anyone asking who I was & what I was doing. In your room: lockers don't seem to have any locking mechanisms and I didn't spot anywhere to install a padlock.
Room security is controlled by electronic card, which is good, but raises the question of why you must also wear taped wristbands (we were told it was for security, but I promptly took mine off -- I loathe things on my wrists -- and no one ever seemed to notice. (admittedly a minor gripe, but in such a sunloving area: these wristbands are but one more source of tanlines)
Noise is a MASSIVE issue here, with what seems to be a partier culture (hence I had very noisy bro-y roommates) and you hear every sound made from the floor above.
The shower was only capable of becoming lukewarm. I had to take very quick showers to avoid getting too cold within the stall. The pillows are thick, which is great for some but less so for those of us who prefer thin pillows. The beds are perhaps on-par for a typical hostel dorm, but in combination with everything else I've listed: I tossed and turned all night, and upon waking up I spent the next 3 days with a thrown-out back.
