Yelp
Of the many hostels I've stayed in, this is one of my favorite, with a couple of asterisks. It's in a prime location in Nyhavn, close to everything you'll want to see in Copenhagen. What I loved the most was the warm and friendly atmosphere of the common area and great happy hour specials. Bedwood is well designed for guests to meet and chat with fellow travelers over happy hour drinks or breakfast. Bedwood doesn't feel like a flophouse; it feels like a modern take on an Old World inn in an 18th Century building. Bedwood isn't perfect, though. My partner and I stayed in Double Room 1, which is a private room immediately adjacent to the common area on the first floor. All the things I loved about the common area also made it difficult to sleep there. The nightly music and festivities just outside the door and the staff's early morning common area cleaning ritual sometimes made it difficult to sleep in that room, even with earplugs. I would definitely return to Bedwood, but I'd request the hostel's other (presumably quieter) private room, or sleep in a bunk.
For comparison, from Copenhagen, I traveled to Stockholm, where I stayed at a Generator hostel, which was very corporate, sterile and pretentious. I'd take Bedwood and its flaws over the other any day.
The bottom line: Bedwood is excellent value for the money in a wonderful, friendly and festive atmosphere... but avoid Room 1!
