Do Brisbane’s beekeepers hold the key to saving the world’s bees? - SilverKris

"Started in 2012 by urban beekeeper Jack Stone and a co-founder as an education-focused beekeeping venture, this rooftop operation manages dozens of apiaries across the city and beyond, ultimately operating around 120 hives across Queensland. It works with corporate clients (including international hotels) and harvests distinctly different honeys even from neighbouring frames—because each hive and foraging route produces its own flavour profile. The team works with European honeybees (Apis mellifera), uses smokers to calm colonies for inspections, and highlights how urban floral diversity can yield five different-tasting honeys from a single rooftop site." - Holly Robertson

I engaged with Jack to install and manage hives at Brisbane Airport. Being the airport, having bees is one of the few things we can do to improve the biodiversity value. Jack is a passionatea and amazing operator and couldn't imagine anyone else providing the service.

My experiences with Bee One Third and Jack in particular have restored my faith in humanity! I am addicted to their pollen, the quality of their products are outstanding. The ordering process was so fast and efficient and Jack answered any questions I had, the level of honesty, transparency and integrity of himself and the company really impressed me. We should be supporting ethical businesses like these as much as we can!

I've just received my latest order with Bee One Third. When I was introduced to this brand, I noticed each honey variety is named after the place where the beehive resides. Connecting my appreciation or impression of the place with each already delicious flavour makes it taste even more special. Each variety I've tried so far has been distinct, and enjoyable for its own flavour profile. Every online order has been processed and delivered promptly. I'm grateful for being introduced to a well-run local business that makes such nice honey and supports other local businesses.

Top shelf products (delicious!) and first class service. Received one of their gift boxes as a thank you from one of my providers, and I was so impressed I ordered a box for all my 16 staff! My order was short notice but communications from Jack and Joel were excellent and I was able to pick the order up at my request to ensure I got it in time. Highly recommended!

We purchased the smaller jars to use in our gift hampers, they were the perfect addition! And have received great feedback from our clients on how they love that the honey was locally sourced from different areas across Brisbane.

Have tried the Byron Bay and Northern Rivers honey, along with bee pollen. The Byron Bay one tastes like you're eating flowers, its SO beautiful. Met Jack at the workshop in Brisbane and he showed me around which was far more then I was expecting! Love the work he is doing along side the bees. I've never heard of eating bee pollen before, however it has great nutritional benefits and will be coming back for more. Great to know all the by-products of the hive are being used! Bee One Third is seriously the best honey I've ever had!!

I love this product so much. The Byron Bay honey reminds me of my childhood; and cooked, in a cup of tea, on toast, or raw on a teaspoon, it tastes so beautiful. (I ran out recently and had to use some “emergency honey” - major store availability, common brand but “100% pure raw Australian honey” none-the-less - and it completely changed the flavour of the dish I was using it in...not in a good way either). One question: do you recycle your packaging? The jars are a great size for pickling, but I have enough for now and would love to get them back to you for reuse! Keep it up apiarists! I’m a big fan :)

I tried a sample size that was in a gift bag at a fashion show and it was the best honey I've ever tasted. I rarely buy honey because I just don't eat it often enough. But this honey was so lovely it made me want to buy some gourmet crumpets just to taste it again. Not sure which one it was but the packaging looks like the Byron Bay one first image on the website. Cheers
