Beechtree Motel

Another excellent stay in Taupo. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room perfect for our 2 night stay. Close to Taupo CBD and a nice mini mart and Asian restaurant across the road. We used this motel as our touristy base, travelling to Rotorua and sightseeing Taupo. We were last in Taupo 30 months ago. Still as great as it was then. Taupo has great bakeries. I love your pies.

Our stay at Beechtree Motel was so good, I really wanted to leave a review. My daughter and I stopped for the night in Taupo on our Auckland to Wellington trip, and it was by far the best motel experience of the 30+ times I've stopped in Taupo. Very well designed, super comfortable beds, clean, great bathroom - and a spa bath! Very friendly team, lots of parking, handy to town. Definitely give it a shot!

Spent a couple of nights here. Very comfortable room. Clean. Comfortable bed. Easy walking distance to the town centre and the lake front. View of the lake from the balcony was an added bonus.

Booked and paid in advance, but when we arrived just after 8pm, the reception was already closed and we had no way of getting in. We tried calling multiple times but couldn’t reach anyone, and ended up stuck in the car with a tired toddler — not an ideal start to our stay. Thankfully, a lovely guest staying at the property knew to push the emergency button, which brought someone down to help us. It would be really helpful to have clear instructions either on the website or posted outside reception for late arrivals. That said, the room itself is clean and comfortable — we’re very happy with it overall.

A great place for a stopover. We stayed one night to break up a long car journey. The room was extremely clean, the bed comfy and quiet. It is close enough to the shops to walk if you are reasonably fit, but a bit far in bad weather. There was plenty of free parking onsite. The reception was friendly. The water pressure meant a fantastic shower, although the bathroom could do with an update. Would definitely stay again.

A nice tidy motel located not far from the city centre. The room was clean, tidy and warm. We had an upstairs room with small north facing balcony. The staff were friendly and check-in was easy. The motel was easy to find and there was plenty of off-street parking.

The motel is fine for an overnight stay. If I was here for longer I would stay by the lake. You are three blocks from the waterfront so your view is the parking lot unless you walk to the shore.

The motel was well located in Taupo with the rooms well appointed if a bit dated. We had a comfortable night's sleep but I wouldn't like to stay there for more than a night, as it is really just suited for an overnight stop.

One of the most surprising and delightful motor hotels we stayed at on our drive around the north island. They include several fantastic amenities that our family really appreciated. This included: fast (relatively) WiFi, a trampoline and swings, proximity to lake Taupo and several restaurants, a gas grill, and very comfortable beds. We greatly enjoyed our stay and honestly wished we had been able to stay a bit longer. We loved Hula falls and getting to walk through the local botanical gardens. Very much recommend staying here if you're ever going near Taupo.
