On the Grid : Beechwood Cemetery

"This is the National Cemetery of Canada and is run on a non-for-profit basis. There are truly breathtaking gardens, flower beds and distinct areas for families, ethnicity and military. This cemetery boasts 160 acres of impeccably maintained property. Truly peaceful and humbling." - Eva Bee

Lucio helped our family pre-plan and took the time to explain all of the options. The grounds are beautiful but there is definitely an opportunity for more attention to upkeep. A quick survey of the site by my father's plot, we found some bags and garbage flying around. Now there are quite a lot of items other families bring that don't abide to the bylaws and so some of these items left around is due to the weather conditions (wind blowing it everywhere).

Please think twice if even thinking about putting your loved one at this place! It was a special occasion for my grandmother, and excited to bring her flowers for her birthday and imagine the SHOCK when we seen this horrific scene of her precious site in which we paid for this plot of land or so we thought! Not only was all of her things tossed in such a disgusting fashion with no respect what so ever for our loved one but they pretty much put a body right on top of hers. I hope the family that just recently buried their loved one sees this. Cause it seems we are gonna be sharing our mourning spot with them. Then to top this all off we are being ignored about our obvious concerns. How dare you!!!! DO not bury anyone you love here! My heart is broken.

Absolute awful place, no respect for the deceased. From the tire mark over my grandmothers grave (I’ve added a picture and circled it so you can see it yourself), to them taking over 2 weeks to put a temporary marker they were paid (immediately) for, no one has the respect or decency to even apologize for their error. I’m being told “few day few days” every time I call in with no sympathy for my situation. I’m disgusted. As if we aren’t already mourning. I understand things happen, and there can be delays- at least have the respect to call or even email letting me know the timeline. I have called in now 3 separate times in 2 weeks with ZERO information given to me. The first time I’m just told a few days, the second time I’m told “I don’t know why the order hasn’t been pushed through yet, but I’ll do it now, just give it 3 days” the 3rd time I call in I’m now being told, it’s still not done, give it a few more days and they will now call me when it’s done. I asked to be transferred after asking why it’s taking so long I’m then told “I don’t have that information so I don’t want to say anything and it be wrong” is that a joke? I ask to be transferred to someone who does I’m then told “I don’t have anyone I can transfer you to right now, I can put a note that you want to be called.” Like my god. My grandmother is dead and you sit there emotionless AND unable to do your job. Do better. What a disappointing experience. The rating of this place makes a lot more sense now.

Beechwood Cemetery is a beautiful and historic place that offers a variety of burial and memorialization options for people of different backgrounds and faiths. It is also the National Cemetery of Canada and the home of several sections dedicated to honouring the service and sacrifice of Canadian military and police personnel. The grounds are well-maintained and feature botanical gardens, a wetland, and many monuments and sculptures. Beechwood Cemetery is not only a place of rest and remembrance, but also a place of learning and celebration of Canadian history and culture.

My grandparents are buried here and my dad is also buried here. This cemetery is huge and nice (as far as cemeteries go). The area where my grandparents and dad are buried is well maintained. When my dad passed away in 2022, the staff here were polite and supportive. The same when my grandfather passed away in1990 and my grandmother is 2006, staff were friendly and helpful. No complaints from me.

I have a few loved ones buried here. It is a beautiful cemetery, and its huge. It took me more than an hour to find my loved ones resting place because of how massive it is. I was really disappointed and sad to see that my loved ones headstone and the area surrounding , had not been cleaned up in a while. Grass was growing so long that her headstone was completely covered, and her name could barely be made out. This is peoples final resting place. Please treat the space with care and respect and take care of it more often.

It was pretty but some of the plots are missing their number because of the lawn care and weather

Silvia is an amazing caring person. She helped me lay my mother rest. Took the time with me and made sure everything went as planned. On the day she was by my side. Also thank you to Mike the ground keeper for being so kind
