A sad but fascinating place. They didn't manage to rescue all buildings yet, but now you are able to access some of them officially during daytime - specifically for photography. I'd recommend the guide tours which are offered privately, what you will learn about the history, advanced technology and architecture will double your excitement - and sadness.

Yelp
An enchanted place lost in time. Makes a great background for any kind of photographs and can feel haunted at dawn:
A mass murderer -former police officer- killed and tortured 5 women and a baby there from 1989 until 1991.
Id recommend to bring time, a lamp, good shoes and food and drinks.
And off course a camera.
The movies that have been shot there:
1995 - Detlev Buck, "Männerpension"
1999 - Thorsten Näter (TV) "Racheengel - Die Stimme aus dem Dunkeln" with Götz George
2001 - Roman Polanski "Der Pianist"
2002 - Ballett-movie "Clown Gottes"
2007 - Bryan Singer "Operation Walküre" with Tom Cruise
