Yelp
my loyal followers should be noticing these two trends by now:
1) I love museums.
2) I love beer.
so, here we reach the synthesis of these two! this museum is devoted to two things: the history of brewing beer in Germany, and the legacy of Oktoberfest.
it's on a side street, and if you don't keep your eyes open you may miss it.
in true German style...there's a bar here. you can combine your admission ticket with a voucher for a beer and pretzel at the museum bar. just a heads up - the bar opens at 6, when the museum closes. we went earlier in the day, but had we known, we might've gone later.
admission is cheap. standard cost is 4 Euro per person, but it must have been a slow day, as the guy at the entrance said "you look like college students, you get reduced price"...and let D-Block and I in for 4 Euro total. AWESOME!
you'll see exhibits about brewing equipment and methods through the ages, posters of Oktoberfest through the years, paintings, photos, and more. I recall seeing a video exhibit or two at some point. overall, it's kind of static (dioramas, things behind glass) but very informative. and it's all about beer! lots of really cool drinking vessels are on display.
it's fairly small - it'll take you maybe an hour or so to see everything - but really cool. so take a break from your standard art and science museums to see one devoted to the greatest liquid on Earth!
PROST!
