Great bands on the weekend. We were lucky enough to see The Fulcos perform and what a show they gave us!!! Rock, pop, country, they do it all!!! I will definitely be back! I also love the afternoon patio performances. They always seem to bring in great artists and singers!!! Its the happening spot on the island during the full swing of summer when 930pm arrives!!!😄

Michelle S.

Google
Fun bar. Kyle the guitarist thinks he's a comedian. Not funny, but a great singer. He might be funnier when he's not hung over. Come to the bar, even if Kyle is singing. It's still a good time. All jokes aside, it's my favorite bar on the island. Low key, and good music.

Google
Terrible beer, terrible service, terrible live entertainment by some random tigers fan with a guitar. Five stars, would recommend. Detroit what?! Go Reds, who dey!

Rodney L.

Google
What an amazing place it was a little slow but they had trixy tang playing there and what a show that was so much energy . Somebody was asleep at the wheel as far as the parking for the golf carts. They should not be charging $3 an hour to park a golf cart they're going to lose out there

Google
The staff was so friendly and fun, the band that was playing was awesome and the bar itself is really cool. We had a great time and loved the baby beers, bucket drinks, rum runners and jello shot syringes. If youre looking for a lively atmosphere with dancing, plenty of bar space and tables for sitting this is your place. While we didnt eat there, the food smelled great and looked so good. There was a cute little gift shop as well becuase fun fact this is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest bar.

Google
Beer Barrel Saloon has definitely seen better days since my first visit back in 2000, but it’s still a must-visit stop for anyone hitting Put-in-Bay. The place is massive — home to the World’s Longest Bar — and there's always a great lineup of live entertainment that brings the energy. The large dancefloor stays busy, especially on weekend nights. And let’s not forget the iconic Jell-O shots in syringes… takes me right back to my younger, wilder days! While the place could use a little refresh, it still delivers on good vibes and a good time.

Google
Had a great time watching Jason Saitta perform here on the outside patio. Getting service was sometimes a little clunky but once we established ourselves with the server in our section the drinks kept flowing. The inside was massive and dark, it felt like two different places, the patio was a bright lively party and the inside was a dark cafeteria with a bathroom at the end. The Men's bathrooms were nice and clean but my wife said the women's was a disaster by 6pm. What can you do Bachelorette parties are gonna bachelorette 🤷‍♂️? Another feature of the giant empty hall was a window serving cafeteria type food, didn't try anything so can't comment on that. Overall I would say your enjoyment depends directly on who's performing that night.

Google
Was at the Beer Barrel on July 6th. Service was great. Entertainment was very unprofessional. His name is Kyle Smithers. He was downright rude to a patron who just got done tipping him. Our group of 20 immediately stood to leave. His comment to us as we were leaving was “I hate Tourists”. Kid, Who do you think butters your bread?

Yelp
This is another late-season review for a PIB bar - the world's longest! The bar twists and turns around the entire massive space, which is pretty fun. It was completely empty when we were there the last weekend in September, which was totally okay by me. I honestly couldn't imagine what this place gets to be when it's full! There was a nice patio space with open doors into the bar area and some live music. Nate and I enjoyed a couple frozen drinks and had fun listening to the great playlist (sidenote, every bar we went to on the island was playing 80s music which is my jam). The bartenders were friendly to us and it was a fun spot! I don't think they serve any food but there are plenty of restaurants and other bars with food in this area.

Max H.

Yelp
This place was terrible. We came in to hang out and enjoy the live music and play some rummy. The manager was incredibly rude and made us stop playing our game. He claimed this was a part of Ohio state law, which was proven false after one quick google search. All of the bartenders were apologizing and clearly embarrassed by the whole situation. We immediately left and went to mojito bay, which is a much more friendly establishment.
google avatar

Rod R.

Yelp
Drinks were overpriced trash in puny plastic cups. There's A LOT better places than this to blow a $20+ on 2 drinks.

Yelp
This is very sad for me to write this review because I spent a summer behind the World's Longest Bar in the late '90s, and it was the best time of my (former) life. Thousands of patrons on the weekends came through our doors, 3 live bands throughout each day, and some of the musicians became some lifelong friends of mine. I took a lot of pride in saying that I worked at the Barrel and busted my butt for the owners here. I really loved working for them, and it's sad after my latest visit to PIB that I've seen how far the BBS has fallen. Not much has changed inside since I left as an employee in the previous century. The bar, stools, stage, floor, everything is exactly the same and could really use some upgrading to continue to compete with the other locations downtown is what I kept thinking. Well, I have a lot of family that are locals on the island spanning generations, and I just learned that the owners have suffered a lot of hardships in the past five years which is why the bar still looks the way it does. It really broke my heart for the family, as they're the last people to deserve everything that's been handed to them recently. The manager on duty was pretty rude when I asked him a question, but the security staff was friendly enough. However, my heart was too broken to see the condition of one of my most favorite places in the world as it is now to come back and spend some time and money here. I'm hoping that as the season goes on that this place still hosts great live music, pours a good drink, sells great stuff in the gift shop, makes a great pizza and packs the people in like the good old days.

Yelp
Huge bar, "longest bar in the world" may be a misnomer...it is a long bar inside that basically goes at right angles through the bar. Kind of cheesy but there is plenty of seating. They say they have a full bar but it's really just well drinks, don't expect anything more fancy than a Jack and coke. Drink prices average $6 for a small plastic cup. Bartenders are exhausted from lack of staff so be patient. Live music is great, we saw a couple bands including Mustang Sally, and they're a great band and play many genres of music. Big dance for and plenty of bar and tables to sit at. Bar was probably half full and there were maybe 250 people there. Be prepared for a crowd. No masks required at this point.

Suzanne H.

Yelp
Terrible place! After getting harassed upon entry by wanting to take my small purse "to make sure I wasn't bring in liquor" I was humiliated and left! Should reconsider who you have greeting people at the entrance. Never going there again!
google avatar

Mariel G.

Yelp
What the heck just happened. We sat for 30 mins before getting our drinks and we only received half of them. When we did get the others there was a spit loogie in the water. An hour later we received our food and it was all wrong and half raw. The waiter guy didn't say anything when he came over and when we got done ordering he just walked away. Other people were having issues around us as well. They ended up closing the kitchen.
google avatar

Sabrina J.

Yelp
Best pizza ever!!! You have to go all the way to the back to order your food. Not going to lie it was a little sketchy because of how dark it was back there, but never did I think they would have delicious pizza! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Beer barrel is the biggest disappointment. This was only our 3rd stop of the day. Not even enough drinks in us to have a slight buzz. We were looking for somewhere fun and relaxing. So unfortunately we picked this awful bar. First I asked if they had draft list. Craig the bartender did not like that question. He gave me a snarky remark just for asking. Keep in mind, it is my first time at this bar. The bar is huge, I had no idea if there was draft beer nor could I see if there was draft beer. But whatever, we moved on from that. But then Craig decides to pick arguments with us. We had someone in our group of 10 people that was not 21. The security marked an X on his hand. Next thing we know, Craig the bartender rudely kicked him out because he wasn't drinking and that security made a mistake. We simply asked what happened and he said "we don't owe explanations to you kids especially when you aren't going to be tipping me well" First off, he had no idea what we were going to tip him yet. Then he proceeds to threaten to kick us out for asking. At this point, we weren't going to stay at a bar that was treating us like this. I got up and walked out after I paid my tab. After I did that, he kicked the rest of the group out that hadn't finished their drinks and ripped 2 drinks of their mouths while they were mid sipping. 2 females which one was celebrating her 21st birthday. Craig is power trip bartender that has no idea how to treat people. According to other bartenders on the island, Craig likes to do this a lot. Craig will never get anywhere in life acting like this. I always tip extremely well. Well Craig got a big fat 0.

Yelp
Self- proclaimed "World's Longest Bar" and in case that's not enough room for you they also have 1 bar outside and 2 more large bars inside. By far the largest venue on the island and you don't have to stand elbows to assholes with the smelly drunk next to you like other bars. The drinks are WAY overpriced, but where on the island isn't? 16 oz cans of domestic beer for $6 and a mixed drink with no alcohol is $6 as well. I had to ask for double poors so those went to $12!! Ouch! The real reason this place got a 4* rating and not a 3?? The band! Electric Circus out of Houston, TX! They kicked ASS! We watched them on Friday night and we went back on Saturday just to make sure it wasn't a fluke or we were just too buzzed to remember. Nope they are the real deal. Highly recommend this awesome cover band!
google avatar

Renee K.

Yelp
Oof, I rarely give one star reviews but this is definitely warranted in this situation. My boyfriend and I kept seeing "World's Longest Bar" so obviously that drew us in. The bouncers at the front were friendly enough, but that's about where that ended. We were greeted by a ton of people just mingling amuck on the patio, smoking everywhere (yuck!) and no direction of where to go/where to sit/what kind of beer or drinks are even available, etc. The inside seemed super dark and uninviting and the people hanging out there were mostly older and made us feel uncomfortable, so we just left. I will never go back.

Chase F.

Yelp
Bad food bad service wouldn't go again. Would rather go the mother and laws house to get food. Never again.

Jhartz ..

Yelp
Watch for the the little bar manager with a napoleon complex. He'll scream at you to move and not tell you why then try and take your legs out from under you. Then proceeded to go cry to his bouncers and lie telling them you told him to "go F yourself" when all you're trying to do is buy some Jell-O shots lol. Absolute joke of customer service with a chump pussy manager

Yelp
This is by far my favorite bar in the entire world. I love the drinks, the shots, the massive dark interior and of course- the stage! I've seen some great bands here over the years. If you want sunshine, head over to a patio or outdoor bar... but I love that on a Sunday afternoon, when I'm happy and hungover and hoping to miss the ferry, I can drink at the dark, cool Beer Barrel and not have to look at the sun :-) My summer isn't complete until I've had a PIB trip and a PIB is never complete without at least one drink at the Beer Barrel! My only suggestion- why isn't the Beer Barrel booking the One Hit Wonders on their stage? They are quickly becoming the islands biggest band, and while I will see them anywhere they go, they're outgrowing the Boardwalk and Hooligans!
google avatar

Sam G.

Yelp
Came to Beer Barrel for late night drinks over the weekend with a group of guys for a bachelor party. We didn't any food and just had drinks. The service was fast and attentive and we never had to wait long for a drink (and the bar was full). Typical PIB bar prices, 5-7 for beers and your basic mixed drinks. Beer Barrel boasts the longest bar, which snakes through the entire bar. The bar area is HUGE the includes plenty of chairs and tables, bar seating (thanks to a huge bar) and a large outdoor area. There is also a stage and they had live music going all weekend. I would definitely return to Beer Barrel when in PIB next.

Jody W.

Yelp
I played drums here with Kenny Kidd's band 7/7/19 - 7/15-19. The staff was very friendly. The food was great. I enjoyed the patio and the band Mustang Sally in the evenings. This is by far the biggest bar and music venue on the island. The sound man Joel was very accommodating and attentive to the needs of both the band and crowd. And the light engineer Brian was very friendly and appropriately creative with his light show. I hope to come back here again!
google avatar

Debra V.

Yelp
Here's a flashback to the good ole days. Before bellying up to the bar anywhere else, have a drink here. The bar is the longest ever. It's so cool. Imagine the crooners singing, the flirting, the laughing in this old venue. Actually the original burned down, and was rebuilt. And the place looks great. Check it out.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Still my favorite bar on the island!! Great staff, great little kitchen in the back, very spacious so you never feel like you're getting stomped on, super cute gift shop with great finds, and of course the longest bar in the world! The patio has some of the coolest acoustic sets on the island and is the perfect place to spend your Saturday afternoons!
google avatar

S. F.

Yelp
Probably the largest bar I've ever been in. Why is it so large? It's crazy. They even have a food window to go and order something quickly. They claim to have "The Longest Bar in the World". It's pretty long. They have a huge stage where cover bands play. The cover band they had all weekend was actually good (for a cover band) and entertaining. I wish I knew what they were called but, I'm not a cover band groupie. The singer/bass player dude was hilarious and did costume changes. I'm not sure if he was really a cross-dresser of if he just played one on stage. One of his outfits involved a chicken thong with talons and feathers shooting out of his loins. He also swung from a trapeze for awhile. Otherwise, this bar is pretty blah and filled with cougars -- much like the rest of the island.
google avatar

Victoria N.

Yelp
I'm not huge on bars. I don't like to be in a loud dark room ramming into tons of sweaty people. But this place is just so much fun that I did not care for a second! It holds the title of the Worlds Longest Bar (it goes on FOREVER) and has the best live music. I highly suggest seeing The Menus there, they are an amazing cover band and the lead keeps you on your toes for all of his insane costume changes (for example he wore a cheerleader's outfit and a bear mask...hm!). There's even fun condoms in the bathroom just "in case."
google avatar

Tyler B.

Yelp
The Globodome of PIB bars. Does any bar really need to be this big? The sheer size means they get the biggest names to come here during the summer, but I'm usually more intrigued by the idiosyncrasies of the smaller bands elsewhere throughout the island. I will give them props on their service - the world's longest bar means its usually not hard to find a place to belly up and get served pronto. And its cavernous size makes it a great place to sit down and have a conversation with a group of friends and not feel like your being hot boxed by a drunk bachelorette party. The food is meh, but they do have one of my favorite PIB traditions with the ol' money in the urinal trick, and that's worth a star by itself. I just hope I'm never desperate enough to go fishing for it...
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
This place is huge. So big that it makes you feel like you're not at a bar, but rather some concert venue. Not that that's a bad thing, but just not my thing. On Halloween, they had a special where you could pay $20 and get entry plus free food all evening. I just wish we had known this before we had eaten because the price didn't go down just because it was later in the night and the food was almost gone or if you said you didn't want the food portion of it. $20 just to get in. Seemed a bit high to me, but because the majority of our group wanted to go in, I paid it. Didn't seem worth it to me to pay $20 for the leftover bits of what looked like it might have been a good buffet but was now crumbs. Or then pay for drinks. I got out of here as soon as I could to someplace a bit more reasonable. Just wish I could have gotten my money back.
google avatar

Julie C.

Yelp
I never asked how long the bar actually is, but it's HUGE!!! It winds and winds and winds around forever!!! Fun place on the main boardwalk and a great spot for people watching! I got the drink where you were able to keep the bucket, but the drink was terrible. I couldn't finish it. But I got my bucket which I really wanted.
google avatar

Bret B.

Yelp
This bar is worth visiting; it is very well known as having the longest bar in the world. However, upkeep was terrible. The lights were so old and dirty it made the bar very dark. Most of the LED lights on the palm trees outside don't work. This bar needs a major revamp. It is a shame, but appears the owners don't invest anything back into the place. I ordered a glass of wine and I was served Barefoot Wine (pretty awful) in a plastic cup. I imagine John Taffer would have a hay day with this place.
google avatar

Cindy P.

Yelp
Had a great time. Worlds longest bar is awesome and the live music was great. Staff was friendly.
google avatar

Jay P.

Yelp
The bartenders were cool. The bar was big, pretty long on one side and snaked around on the other side. Drinks were over priced because its known as the "Worlds Longest Bar".
google avatar

Parker W.

Yelp
The year was 2006. I was still busted up about some girl I used to love. I drank a pint of Jim Beam at my friend's house, well actually his parent's house. They were shocked at how much I was drinking. I drank the pint in about 45 minutes. I wanted to chase it down with some Gatorade, so I did. Unfortunately, the Gatorade was half vodka and I was too drunk to tell until later. I ended up drinking a lot more beer and liquor by the time I got to the island. I ran into my old next door neighbor at Beer Barrel and allegedly, I was talking to him. He said that I was standing there holding a beer and talking and fell flat on my face because I passed out standing up. My face broke the fall and my tooth went through my upper lip. I guess I popped up pretty quick, threw up my fists and asked "Who hit me?". The bouncers yoked me up and escorted me out. I sealed the wound up about an hour later and came back in. That is why I like this bar.
google avatar

Charles S.

Yelp
World's Longest Bar, but expensive beers!! $6 for a 16oz Bud Light Can!!!!
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Interesting bar. Decent prices. Needs updating though. They should consider turning on some lights. Overall, decent place.
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Ugh. The entire island of Put-In-Bay is overpriced, but nothing comes close to the Beer Barrel Saloon. $6 for a can of beer??? And decor that hasn't been changed (or, from the looks of it, cleaned), in decades. The "world's longest bar" looks more like a bowling alley, and is not worth the effort to even show your ID to get into the place. Head to any other place on the island instead.
google avatar

Jessica I.

Yelp
Maybe it's me. Maybe I just don't belong on Put-in-Bay at all. The middle-aged hordes in stupid hats, beads and various stages of intoxication. Still, I love the quieter side of the island, and I keep coming back. Invariably someone in my group wants to come here for the live music, novelty, or -- god, I don't know why. Anyway, this would be just another silly joint on the main strip (albeit a cavernously large one), but two things make it inexcusably awful. First, the prices are appalling even for the island. More notably, The Beer Barrel has no beer barrels. That's right, no tap beer. So the name of the bar is about as convincing and exciting as the world's longest bar.
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
This place is incredible. There are few bars that can rival the sheer size of this place. I just found out that this bar is the world's longest and I would believe it after seeing it first hand. The back of the bar opens up into this huge open area where they have live music going on. The outdoor beer garden stretches the entire length of the bar. The staff is really friendly as most of them are people working over the summer before college starts up again. It is a fun place but the size of the place can be overwhelming as it can get extremely crowded. If you you lose someone in here you better have a place to meet outside of the bar as you will most likely not find them.
google avatar

Loren B.

Yelp
I'm here right this very minute and we've ordered a margarita and a rum and coke. Sent both back because the margarita was unbearably salty and the rum and coke was all rum and barely any coke. Two different bartenders made the drinks. Go somewhere else.
google avatar

Jr A.

Yelp
not sure what all the hype is about. Sure the bar is huge but that is about it. If you want food, you need to get up and go to a "concession " stand and get it your self. The drinks are pricey but their patio is a nice place to sit in nice weather.
google avatar

Colleen M.

Yelp
Whenever I go here, I never stay longer than five miniutes. The only good thing about this bar was the no cover charge, gift shop (which has a lot of fun beads) and the live music. Other than that don't waste your time stopping here. There is no draft beers and the prices are outrageously expensive. It is expected that the price is a little higher on the island and most bars are decently priced but the beer barrels prices are ridiculous. Also most bars during the day allow people under 21 to go inside but the beer barrell won't even let you past the door to the gift shop. The inside of the bar is really big but other than that nothing is special about this place. Defiently a bar not to waste your time stopping at.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Pretty good place, an the drinks are expensive for what they are. There are a few different areas/ bars to see inside. Main bar: very dark. Bar by bathrooms: all lit up with Christmas light-style LED's. Back bar: Keno. Keno gave the guys something to do while the girls danced by the stage. Again, a good mix, worth the trip.
google avatar

Valerie R.

Yelp
AMAZING TIME! I spent girls weekend at put n bay over the weekend. Easily spent 75% of the day at Beer Barrel. They had the best band there in the afternoon. I just wish that this band would have been on for the party at night. Instead they had a band from England. Not horrible but the first band rocked the place. Huge bar. Biggest ever. Delicious jello shots. Lots of entertainment. The people are so friendly, drunk, but friendly. Never a dull moment. I plan on returning as soon as I get a chance.
google avatar

Brittany B.

Yelp
I asked how much a shot was he said we have nothing under 6.00..I said that's a lot and he told me there is the door and I could leave..Fuck that guy...so rude ..he had no customer service ..this place could be better if they had good employees
google avatar

Joe S.

Yelp
A classic PIB stop. No draft beer, very disappointing. Seems like the place to be for late night music and entertainment though. No cover when we went, very attractive because of that. We liked it on the weekend nights for the music. Service was good, lots of "kids" working there from out of town or out of the country.
google avatar

Chevas H.

Yelp
Huge place! While this is suppose to be cool because it's supposedly the "longest bar", the highlight was the cool bartender that had a personality. They had a couple of guys playing music which were ok, but cussed way more than needed. I use colorful language and thought it was a little too much for the older crowd on a Sunday afternoon.

Steve P.

Yelp
Retired couple living in Marblehead.Love PIB.We cruise there in our boat in 27 minutes. The Beer Barrel was our favorite place with the great bands/ music. We drink wine.BB has cheap crappy wine. We go next door and get better wine and bring it back. Over the years at least five time'swe got up to dance or? And came back and our drinks are gone. We had to argue to get new ones.last August we got up to talk to Mustang Sally and drinks gone again! We had a coat and bag on the table. The waitress lied and said they were empty. They weren't! I argued with the manager and he barred us for the nite, threw us out. I sent Beer Barrel two emails explaining the incident and one to the owner Mr Neese and not one courtesy-response. After supporting BB for over 47 years that's what you get ! The place is looking alittle dingy and neglected inside and out and not sure if the owner cares much anymore?

Dean D.

Yelp
Been to the Barrel a few times and a great place years ago. Now the service keeps getting worse and indifferent. Expensive drink prices along with cold food. On my last visit saw a patron have an argument over a bill, walk away from the argument and then the management call the police to have patron removed. I wish the old Colonial would return!
google avatar

Kevin S.

Yelp
The world's longest *permanent* bar can be found here in the modest confines of this tiny village on a tiny island on the smallest of the five Great Lakes. At 405 feet 10 inches, the bar at The Beer Barrel is where you settle in for your serious island drinking, finding your niche in the zig-zagging, crenellated bar that meanders through the building. The Beer Barrel occupies the site of the Colonial, an ancient and revered pub where I quaffed many a foamy brew on a hot summer day. Later, after making friends among the island's few dozen-strong permanent population who live here through arctic, windswept winters, I learned that the Beer Barrel is the winter home-away-from-home for Islanders who gather to drink, eat, play cards, and socialize while old movies play on the big screens above the bar. Some of my fondest memories are inhaling a burger and several brews with the locals who were in from a frosty day of ice-fishing on the thick lake ice. The lake is frozen over, so there's no ferry--you have to take a plane in the winter, and that feeling of isolation breeds a certain little sense of community that I really enjoyed on my winter weekend visits with my friends.
google avatar

Kevin H.

Yelp
beer barrel is a great place to be. you can hang out in any fashion you want whether it be in front of the stage to watch the menus rock, outside for some air, posting up at the bar, or sitting down at a table. so much fun.

Jordan C.

Yelp
Seriously the worst ran bar on the island, we had a group of 16+ people hanging out at the bar and listening to the live music while having a drink and having a normal time with parents, kids, siblings, and coworkers. No one being belligerent, causing problems or getting sick, just joking and having fun with each other in the group and we were asked to leave because we had apparently had enough when half the group was sober and everyone else was sipping a drink. I would never recommend this bar to anyone. I would seriously think twice before entering if you are looking to have a fun time, like you could have at any of the other bars in the area.

Laura S.

Yelp
Let me first begin by telling you that there were maybe 8 people in the entire bar when we arrived around 1pm on Sunday. We immediately experienced an issue at the entrance when the staff asked to see my 16 year old sons Id and his girlfriend's Id when we were all standing in a large group with 4 adults and 5 teenagers. I told the young rude bouncer that we were the parents and guardian of the kids and he gave me a hard time by saying that had his policy and that it didn't matter that I was the parent. They kids did not look anywhere near 21 and as far as I knew, you could eat during the day, but after 9pm you had to be 21 and over. So my question is why were the kids being carded to begin with and why were they giving us such a hard time? I guess we immediately threw up a red flag to the staff that we were there to serve our teenagers alcohol! That was the way we felt we were treated. We had to wait for the manager to bring out a ridiculous black marker (that barely worked) and put a giant X on both of their hands. Why both hands and why not wrist bands? The young bouncer was smoking a cigarette in our faces as he was giving us attitude about marking each of their hands, but then finally let us in. We were pushed aside twice to let others in as if we had the plague. We should have turned around and left at that point. Needless to say the bouncer stalked the teenagers when they were sitting at their table next to ours and threw out 2 of them without speaking a word to any of us adults because their ridiculous marker (to be used on paper) came off. I was horrified how we were treated. I wrote an email to their website and never heard back - no surprise but we will never be back anyway. The place sucks and so does most of their lousy staff. The manager was rude, the bar maid had an attitude, the bouncer was a complete moron and I will never pay to be treated that way again. We will take our business to the Boathouse, which is where we ended up after we left this horrible establishment. The staff there were very professional and treated us with the utmost respect, including our teenagers - oh and they didn't have to be branded like cows when we got to the boathouse!
