The hotel is located in a quiet area, and the room was very clean – no complaints there. However, my experience with the receptionist completely ruined my stay, and I will never return.|I’m a smoker and signed the smoker policy upon arrival. I asked where I could smoke, and the receptionist told me not in front of the hotel, which was fine. The next morning, I made a coffee to go in my room and went outside to smoke. Since there were no trash cans nearby, I didn’t want to litter, so I put the cigarette butts in my coffee cup and threw it in my room’s trash can.|Later that evening, I went to reception to check out early because I had to leave early the next day. When I gave my room number, the receptionist raised her voice and accused me of smoking in the room. I explained several times that I smoked outside and only disposed of the butts in my room’s trash because there were no bins outside. She showed me the “evidence” – the cup with the cigarette butts – and still insisted. I reminded her that I’m a customer and she should listen before pointing fingers. She eventually apologized, but the damage was done.|She then insisted on checking the room with me. Of course, it didn’t smell of smoke. Plus, the room has a smoke detector – if I had smoked inside, the alarm would have gone off. She also asked why I hadn’t stopped by reception earlier because there was a letter in my room (I’ll attach a photo of it). I told her I’d been in meetings all day. Honestly, I don’t know why that was necessary.|Overall, the hotel itself is fine, but the attitude and behavior of the receptionist were unacceptable. I felt disrespected and uncomfortable. Never staying here again.|The letter itself is perfectly fine and a decent and civilised discussion would have been highly appreciated, instead of just raising her voice at a customer without even hearing the customer's story.
