BROKEN GLASS IN MY DRINK I was chewing what I thought was ice from my drink when I suddenly had to spit out a jagged shard of glass. My glass itself wasn’t broken—the shard must have come from their ice supply. I’m incredibly lucky that the shard of glass was large enough that I tried to bite it, rather than immediately swallowing it and probably dying. I’ll be looking into how to report this to health authorities, because this is just an absolutely appalling and dangerous error. Unless you want to spend the final moments of your life choking on your own blood while shards of glass rip your throat apart, avoid this bar at all costs. On a positive note, this experience served as a reminder of how fragile life is, and to appreciate your loved ones while you’re still breathing.

Arrived in Glasgow for a conference and was finding my feet in the surrounding environs. Stumbled upon BeGin and was glad I did. Sara behind the bar made us feel very comfortable, was full of recommendations about the west end and is truly wise beyond her years. Mazen made us an excellent old fashioned and Robbie the manager although very busy was singularly handsome and quick with a good one liner. We'll definitely be back and this little gem is worth a trip.

I had a great time here with my mates. Ariana was lovely to chat with and had so much positive energy. Her conversation and great drinks made the night for us.

Would give it zero if possible. Came in and were greeted, told we could sit anywhere. Staff were up chatting at the bar and no one came to take our order. Only one other table in the place with patrons as it was 5pm. Waited for about 15min, still no service. Went to leave and staff made eye contact and still said nothing to us. So I guess if you want to sit at a table, be ignored, and never be served I’d recommend coming here. Otherwise absolutely not.

Went way down hill since last time I visited. And you can tell, it’s a Saturday night, GlasGlow on across the road and it’s hardly jumping. Maybe explained by the staff not really knowing what they’re doing as well as the lack of even a gin menu (in Glasgow’s premier gin bar!). Fiancé had to explain to the barmaid what a perfect serve is. Anyway, this is what we got for our perfect serve (which kinda tasted like a basic G&T)…

I like beGin ,we use it as a meeting point and sometimes ending point if we're having a meal out on byres rd or great western road this it's a nice little place varies in businesses, can have a chat easily and good selection of Drinks , can be slightly pricey on certain things though.

It's just an offshoot of the Grosvenor Hilton complex so expect hotel prices. We arrived before the rush on the weekend so service was fine. The wine list is a bit uninspired but the atmosphere was quiet and relaxed which I appreciated after a long day. Staff were attentive without ever being obtrusive.

Nice place to eat lovely restaurant and pleasant place to relax recently been refurbished and looks beautiful. Dan behind the bar was lovely and made sure my stay was very plesaent he was fantastic. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Service was horrendous. Came in at 5:45 on a Wednesday when the place was largely empty. Four females employees stood at the bar gabbing and ignoring our presence. Even making eye contact couldn't interrupt their conversation. The server came over (legitimately after a full 15 minutes of sitting there) and when we asked for recommendations she said "let me ask my supervisor". The employee couldn't even recommend a single drink. Unbelievable. When the server asked her supervisor for a recommendation the supervisor had the gal to role her eyes and say "did they look at a menu?" It took another 15 minutes to get our drinks and I watched them sit at the service well while our server chit chatted some more. Bottom line, don't waste your time here. The owner should be ashamed of his employees.

I actually really like this place, not sure why it gets such a bad press. Been in for drinks on several occasions and always had a good evening. Its not over crowded and its not one of those places you can't hear yourself think let alone have a chat. They do a great selection of cocktails. My only disappointment would be their lack of choice in cider, its a bottle of Magners and thats your lot. Its a very stylish bar in comparison to what it was years ago when I remember it in my student days as Studio One (Jingz! thats showing my age!!!) What a monumental improvement! I'm with Gavin M on this one... YAY!!! I'm a Fan!

Been out and about in the Byres Rd for along time,ah the Bobar its a really nice bar but lacks something bar staff are really good,better than a few I could mention. Overpriced but considering it is a Hilton hotel bar and desparately you get the feeling trying not to be. Best nite when it comes alive and kicking with a great atmosphere is a sunday nite where it hosts the live blues band with their friends who fill in with guest spots, a great nite . When the band stops pop over to Oran Mor. Preferably with no work on a Monday..

I think the poor old Bobar has been given a bit of a hard time here, which is as much to do with crossed wires amongst the reviewers as it is to do with the place itself. I don't think it's trying desperately to do anything, it's just a hotel bar, for people that are staying in said hotel and a few punters off the street. Bearing in mind that the hotel it's attached to is a Hilton, I don't think it's surprising that it's done up as a wanky style bar, rather than a spit and sawdust for regulars. It's not great, perhaps not even good, but it's a hotel bar. Jesus Christ.

Soulless place to sit and have a pint. Even with a big game on and a couple of beer buddies there was something distinctly lacking about this place - think Travel Lodge reception with a bar in it. It even had a resident Alan Partridge character on hand. Have to say the woman who was delivering drinks and food to tables was working her socks off with great customer service. The only redeeming feature.

Right, let's start with the positives. The location is good, there's a good selection of drinks and the food is really nice. One of the members of staff was happy to help with whisky suggestions and they let us order a desert off the adjoining Bovine menu. So why do I not like this place? The service. I have been a few times (my family stay in the above hotel) and the staff are pretty miserable. There is also this awkward table/ bar service combo. Every time we have been we sit down and the staff ignore you and just stand aimlessly at the bar. So you go up to the bar to order drinks, get your own menus etc etc. When you order your drinks the staff then look at you like an idiot. Apparently they are now serving it to your table, so it's now table service right? No. Next drink you have the same process goes on. It's just strange. While I don't care whether it's table service or not, this combo is just awkward and makes you feel completely unwelcome. I don't think it's necessarily the staffs fault, I think they just need a better system, but it ruins the whole experience

This place opened at the top of Byres Road in 2006. And it has no reviews until now. In other words, it's in arguably the most thriving social hub of the city, an area in which every other nook n cranny has been scrutinised by Yelpers, yet this place has remain untouched. Really, that says it all. You see, Bobar is the most sterile of the Byres Road style bars, offering little in the way of atmosphere or character. As part of the Hilton Hotel, it attracts a fair share of guests but passing trade on Byres Road tend to bypass it in favour of the far superior Oran Mor situated opposite. Over-priced and flashy, customers enjoy drinks to a soundtrack of glorified muzak, while yuppies and luvvies mingle. Just awful. My girlfriend did once spot Roy Walker tucking into a salad in here, so I guess it gets an extra star for that.

Bobar an overlooked bar which is often empty, almost impossible to believe considering its prime location at the top of Byres Road. This place really isn't my cup of tea as I am not a fan of style bars which this place certainly is, or is trying to be. The opening of a new steak restaurant in the Grosvenor Hotel next door might draw a few more customers in.

A bar that lacks character, charm and any feeling of atmosphere, BoBar is trying desperately to be a style bar and failing dramatically. In the 4 years I've lived around Glasgow's West End never before have my pals suggested we nip in here for a pint, or meet here before a night out. Truth is, no one actually says these things. When I popped into BoBar the other day there was no one else in the pub. I imagine it does its trade on a friday and saturday night when everyone is out in the West End except people who actually live and work here. The failings of BoBar is a shame as the place does have one of the best locations in Glasgow. Hopefully it can pull its socks up and make a change for the better in the near future

I knew this place was likely to be pants, but Oran Mor was heaving and we had had enough after 1 and it was a handy place to re-lubricate on our way to Ashton Lane. The bar is well stocked, the prices were average the music not great, but not too chartish and its a nice looking place. The problem with BoBar is this: I moved 200 miles and thought I had managed to leave the 'far too much attitude, professional girlfriend, leering blokes' scene in Deansgate Locks. This is Glasgow's version. And yes this is attached to the Hilton, but it is trying to stay away from the Hotel bar feel, but just going about it in the wrong way. Then again I am really not its target market as I am not a Z-list celebrity and do not wish to wake up next to one.

Looked like it needed to be cleaned , the toilets looked okay the service was fine although I watched a guy making cocktails and it looked like he couldn't care less splashing alcohol on the bar I was having a meal in bovine later and sadly it wasn't any better again the service was fine but the food was awful I had gnocchi for my main and it was burnt I thought it was boiled my sister had the fish and was very dissappionted with the portion my dessert looked amazing but tasted terrible a doughnut on top of ice cream in a glass , I don't know how old the doughnut was but it was very tough like the gnocchi , we had a deal about the price thank god paying full price would have been painfull don,t think I will ever be back which is a shame as I had looked forward to going for quiet a while

Update since my last visit. Again the food was very nice at the price just like last time. Huge improvement on the service this time, clearly caught them on a bad day last time. Was very quiet when we were in just like last time, which just leaves the atmosphere a bit flat.

Very nice place to grab a drink before dinner. My husband loves gin, so this was a gem to find on our honeymoon. Every drink we had was superb, and the atmosphere was perfect; the music was on-point.

This place seems to have had a bit of a hard time. I've lived in the west end for the past 7 years and have frequented this lovely cocktail bar since it opened. Granted during the week it's not the busiest place however it does mean that you can actually take to the bar staff and they are more than willing to explain and create drinks for you. I personally don't see this as a hotel bar at all unless that is the hotel is massive because you could barely move last weekend. Having moved from Edinburgh were the bar scene is a lot more happening this bar is exactly what I like in a bar. Its have great wine, great range of spirits and a excellent selection of cocktails that you cant get anywhere else in Glasgow. If your thinking about coming give it a try, Fridays and Saturdays this place is jumping with some excellent djs playing a sometimes weird mix of music but weird stuff mixed in with old crowd pleasers ( last weeks final tune was from the sound of music) All in all I think that this is one of the best "style" bars in Glasgow. If you like good drinks and nice surroundings I would highly recommend it, if you like woo woos and shark bites for £2 don't bother, just stick to your G1 bars. Oh and I'd argue that they have the best tasting pints in the west end, whoever said Oran Mor was better than Bobar....No chance! Have you ever had a pint in the Oran Mor! Oh Dear!

Its an OK place to have a drink. I also had the Jimmy burger for dinner and it was really big a full burger patty with haggis on top. A lot of meat for one meal. The atmosphere is bland but servers are nice.

Three of us went for lunch last saturday afternoon and sat outside (in the shade) and had fairly good main course that arrived quickly and was pretty tasty. The reason I gave this 1 star was we had to wait about 30min for the staff to clear our plates at which point we promptly ordered dessert. Then another 30 min wait for the worst ice cream sunday ever. It was an abosolute joke with no real explanation from the unattentive staff just an insincer apology about it being busy (there were about 6 tables eating max) We will not be going back - AVOID.
