The Latest Architecture Trend Is All About Bringing the Outdoors In

"It's a similar story at the $11 billion Zaha Hadid-designed Beijing Daxing Airport, which opens at the end of September with solar farms on its starfish-shaped roof."

7 best-kept experiences within easy reach of Beijing Daxing International Airport - SilverKris

"A vast, starfish-shaped terminal designed by Zaha Hadid that serves as both a major transport hub and an architectural showcase. The 700,000 m² building—the largest single terminal in the world—feels fluid rather than rigid, with sinuous lines, a dizzying gridwork roof that admits generous natural light, and an interior layout acclaimed for being easy and quick to navigate. The project is part of a wider trend of high-profile foreign architecture in the city, and excellent rail and metro links mean visitors can use the efficient connections to reach central palaces, temples and monuments; commercial route developments have also increased international services to the facility." - Peter Neville-Hadley

Modern, clean, and well-designed airport Beijing Daxing International Airport offers a smooth and pleasant travel experience. The terminal is spacious, clean, and architecturally impressive. Its starfish layout helps reduce walking distance, and the signage in both Chinese and English makes navigation easy. Immigration and security processes were well-managed, and staff were polite and helpful. There are plenty of seating areas, charging points, and a good selection of restaurants and duty-free shops. The airport is also well-connected to the city by high-speed rail, metro, and expressways, making transfers convenient. Overall, it’s a modern and well-organized airport that handles international travel efficiently.

Amazing airport. If this is "domestic" airport we all should take the design class. Super easy to follow wayfinding signs system. If you have a choice, take business lounge- food, drinks and relax (massage chair) facilities. Really enjoyable wait for our flight.

This is the V2 lounge just outside the security clearance gates. This has many spacious lounge seats & dining tables. The openness of the area makes it unique as compared with the enclosed lounges in other airports. It offers great & friendly services from the staff. My only gripe is that their buffet dishes are limited to 8:30pm only. However their a la carte kitchen is still open till late. A great place to stay prior to anyone’s departure!

Beijing airport is massive. Always had a great experience while transiting through its massive terminal. The ceiling decorations and cleanliness throughout the airport is very impressive. Decent eating options along with typical Chinese old buildings replicas make it a unique airport to comfortably spend couple of hours before taking flight back home.

Beautiful airport with all the service that are of world class. Except the WiFi was a difficult thing. It should be more easily accessible because travellers need it before they could get a SIM, which is not the case for transit passengers.

This is really a clean and beautiful airport, but here is the catch. Arrival: Only 2 counters were open for tourists, but it was around 3 am. 30 minutes just to leave the customs. The passport inspection was thorough. You need to have your thumbprints scanned and fill in an arrival card upon arrival. Besides, if you were born with a suspicious look, they might ask why you come to China. I was lucky to skip this one. Keep it professional and confident. You will do fine. Ordering taxi or DiDi (Their famous driver app)? Upon arrival, head towards the e-hailing bridge opposite Starbucks. Please note that once you walk towards the bridge, you can’t return to the airport. Once you walk to the bridge, take escalator to the lowest floor. Your didi drivers will wait for you according to their waiting number area. Remember this. There is a number assigned to every driver. Read the pillar. AND BEWARE, there is a group of unlicensed taxi waiting for you there. They will bug you. If you can speak Mandarin, you will be an easier target. Ignore or avoid them. To be safe, walk towards the e-hailing waiting area once your didi driver arrives. Departure (bye china): There are 3-4 customs check, the system here is very very thorough (unlike Singapore), and it took me 30 minutes to fulfill all their standard inspection. Follow their rules and try not to keep any liquid in hand carry no matter the amount. Otherwise, the signage is clear and it is easy to locate places. Food and drinks are plenty. It is very English language friendly. You don't need any assistance.

Pros: ✔ Convenient navigation – everything is clear and well-organized, signs in English and Chinese make it hard to get lost. ✔ Beautiful interior – modern and stylish design, pleasant atmosphere. Cons: ✖ Limited food options – few cafes and restaurants, and the available ones aren’t always great in terms of quality. ✖ Weak business lounges – expected more from the business-class areas: lack of amenities, poor food selection, uncomfortable. ✖ Almost everything closes at night – after midnight, most cafes and shops shut down, making it hard to grab a snack or buy essentials. Overall – a standard international airport, nothing exceptional but no major flaws either. If you're not flying late at night or expecting luxurious business lounges, it’s decent enough.

The airport is user friendly in terms of layout and to navigate. However the frustrations involved are countless and I really do not know what we would have done without google translate
