Amazing hotel with beautiful, clean rooms. The location is great too - close to many attractions and in the middle of the coziest hutong-area with many great places to eat. The staff was also super nice and helpful! The best part of the hotel experience was that they helped us arrange a trip to the wall for 500 yuan per person. The trip inlcuded transport to and from the wall and approx. 3-4 hours on the wall. We were in total 5 people doing the trip and our very nice guide, Jackie, instructed us how to get from our starting point to the meeting point. After that, it was like climbing the wall independantly - we could freely split up and walk in our own tempo, which was greatly appreciated as some parts of the wall are honestly very difficult to walk/climb. The part we were taken to had almost no other tourists and very few people in general. We got to watch the sunset and eat a simple but amazing dinner at a farmers restaurant (vegetarian options available) after descending. All in all an unforgettable experience!

We stayed 4 nights in April 2024 and had a great stay. We booked a super deluxe double room via Booking.com for ¥864 a night (around €112). The room was quite spacious with a seating area and a table with bar stools. It looked exactly the same as the photos online and was in excellent condition. ||Communication with the hotel through Booking was excellent. They organised an airport pick up for us on arrival for ¥200. The staff, Zachary and Sunshine, were also extremely helpful during our stay. For example we didn’t know you have to book to visit Tiananmen Square and Sunshine did it for us on her phone and also helped with a restaurant booking. She also booked our return taxi to the airport. ||The hotel is located in an extremely busy hutong which is full of touristy shops and food outlets and is packed at all times. Off this hutong are quiet ones which are nice to wander around. You can walk to Shichahai subway station in around 10 minutes. The Houhai lakes and drum and bell towers are also in walking distance. ||The hotel is listed on Google Maps as ‘Beijing downtown backpackers’ so presumably it used to be a hostel. The reception and corridors look like a budget hotel and could do with some redecoration. However, the room itself was nice with new furniture and good amenities. The only thing missing was a fridge and a couple of things need updating in the bathroom. Despite the busy location, the hotel was very quiet. Note that the hotel does not offer any breakfast options. There are a couple of cafes nearby as well as a Starbucks.||Overall a good option and reasonably priced. Recommended.

Primarily the location is excellent. It is located in an alley where tours provided by local agency as walking tours would normally end there. Secondly, the room is clean. We felt at home the first night we stayed there. We have a good sleep despite it being located in a busy street. We cannot hear the outside noise at all. The toilet fixtures are even more high tech than the expensive hotel we've stayed in Shanghai. The breakfast offered is also good but we've only eaten once since our tours usually starts at 7am. Maybe they could move the breakfast schedule from 8am to 7am.That is the only comment i have regarding the schedule of breakfast.

I stayed in the Beijing Downtown Travelotel for 4 nights. Overall experience with the staff and stay was fantastic. ||||Prior to my travel, Hotel sent all the details on how to get there which I found very useful. Check-in process was smooth and because I arrive in the morning they already had rood ready for me. I stayed in 2 different rooms for 2 nights and both rooms were very clean in spacious. ||||Breakfast was good but same everyday (atleast my vegetarian breakfast). That is one area they would like to provide better options. When I booked early trip to Great wall of China, staff arranged my breakfast take-away.||||Hotel is located at the buzzy street and till late night you can see tourist walking around. However, there is no noise inside the room. ||||This is small and cozy hotel where I felt home.

The staff here genuinely cares about the quality of your experience in Beijing. They were extremely kind and thoughtful. The accommodations were excellent too. Everything in the room was hotel quality with cleaning service, bath items provided, towels and really modern, clean amenities. The only thing "hostel" that I experienced was the nice common areas. The location was really cool too. The hutongs area it is located in was a wonderful experience to walk around in and close to the forbidden city.

We spent 4 nights in this hotel during our stay in Beijing. The location is great, by one of the traditional Hutong areas with a busy walking street full of shops and restaurants. From here you can walk and explore the nearby areas and attractions such the Lama temple or the Drum and bell tower or even rent a bicycle and reach the Tianamen and forbidden city areas. Very clean, spacious rooms and very attentive personnel at the front the desk. We also booked the Great Wall tour and were very happy with all the service provided and service included - Excellent!

Excellent place! Beijing is quite expensive generally so expect to pay more for accommodation compared to other places in China. This is in a brilliant location of a hustling Hutong and really close to the metro station. We organised our Great Wall tour and forbidden city tickets through the hotel as well - very helpful thank you.

Stayed here 4 nights in April 2013. Due to how booked they were and my late reservation, I changed rooms twice. Each of my 3 private rooms with ensuite was clean with a clean bathroom as well. The staff is friendly and speaks decent English. Breakfast is simple but enough to get you moving in the morning. WiFi only works in the common room and restaurant but has good signal in those places. The location is central in the hutong and only a 5 minute walk to the subway which will take you to any tourist site in Beijing. Highly recommend their Jinshaling Great Wall day trip even if you don't stay here. It was fantastic, relaxed, and done for a great price. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Beijing.
