The lockdown reliance on tech makes a detox more urgent than ever - SilverKris

"Founded in 2014 by two former bankers, this eco-luxury retreat in Ubud’s rainforests and paddy fields (the quiet village of Kenderan) offers immersive mindfulness and wellness programmes that blend ancient Eastern techniques with contemporary experiences. Core offerings include bespoke digital-detox retreats—where participants surrender devices in sealed bags—daily routines of meditation, nature baths, yoga classes, mid-day juice cleanses, an hour of silence each morning, and journaling and sharing sessions each evening; the curriculum follows the eight limbs of yoga with sitting meditation, asana, breathing practices and self-reflection. The resort comprises 13 private Balinese villas and resort-style facilities such as a kidney-shaped infinity pool, a yoga pavilion, a spa, and a lush edible-greens garden; meals are plant-based and inspired by Ayurvedic principles. It emphasizes sustainability and local stewardship, using locally sourced materials and staff, composting food waste, avoiding single-use plastics, and employing rainwater harvesting and recycling systems. Beyond retreats for individuals and corporate teams, it hosts themed programmes (honeymoon, music and dance), intimate weddings, adventure tours, and cultural events like contributions to the Ubud Writers Festival, and has extended its community through online offerings such as a 100-day “Calm in Chaos” mindfulness programme." - Creative Solutions

Just 3 days with a group of friends at Sattva. Amazingly beautiful place. The CEO, Renuka, is personally involved in the menu and food prep, and the gardens and rooms are a full reflection of her attention to detail. The vegetarian meals were lovely—including the tempeh burger :-). The staff are incredibly attentive, especially Mona, Soni, and Komang. Mona and Soni are sharp as tacks and incredibly friendly. Komang went above and beyond—she chased my cab down on her scooter since I had left something behind. Loved the activities. The spa and massages are lovely—the massage beds open out into the garden, which is amazing. The fresh water pool is cool and refreshing. Excursions included Pura Gunung Kawi Tempaksiring (a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 1,000 steps down but just lovely), Manuaba Waterfall (wading through it is not to be missed), and Ulun Danu Beratan (Lake temple), which is stunning and built for Instagram. We had a pizza on the way back, overlooking panoramic tiered rice fields. On our third day, we did a class 2/3 rapid on the Ayung river—stunning. Overall, I plan to be back—Sattva is a special place, and the owners, Renuka and Subba (the Yoga Master), take personal hosting to another level!

Don't hesitate! If you're looking at this page, just book it, you will not regret it. My husband and I stayed at BeingSattvaa for our anniversary and it was so wonderful. From the calm quiet jungle and lush green views to the incredible team to the sustainable approach to delicious vegetarian food: we loved it. You know that feeling you get in the regular "resorts", including in Bali, that something is a little off, maybe a little removed from the place you're in? Here we really enjoyed the spirit of the place, and we loved walking up into the small village it is located in. There are all the things that make a stay very comfy: a lovely pool, a big clean comfy room, super handy shuttle service into town, handy WhatsApp comms, a very good daily morning yoga, and so much more. But the reason we really loved it was the kind, eye-level service. These are wonderful pros. Also special note on breakfast: we LOVED that you just order a dish, and a small buffet. So much less waste, and the breakfast was super fresh and nice. Delicious fruit, a homemade banana or chocolate bread and croissants, and a lovely dish. Wonderful. OK, we could go on, but truly, if you are a little bit done with cookie cutter hotels, need a space to unwind in nature and love to do so in sync with your surroundings, search no further, come with an open heart and you will have an exceptional time. Thank you for a wonderful stay dear BeingSattvaa family, we hope to meet you again soon!

Our four days at Being Sattva was an incredible experience. The resort nestled in the lush landscape of Bali, is like a dream you don’t want to end. Beautiful architectural design and details intended to connect you with nature nourishes the mind and soul. Waking up to chirping birds and gurgling water was so blissful. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay in the resort. The super clean rooms are beautifully appointed with exquisite touches and locally sourced furniture and decor. The meditation and yoga sessions, the spa treatments and the healthy food, all enveloped in top notch, genuine Bali hospitality makes this a perfect place to rest, recuperate and re-charge. Shout out to Team Sattva and our wonderful hosts Subba and Renuka for creating a memorable experience for us! Exceptional attention to detail! A wonderful destination for your wellness journey. Highly recommend!

BeingSattva felt like a big warm hug! In addition to being surrounded by thoughtfully designed spaces that blended into Bali’s natural beauty - every space evokes a sense of peace. We were the happy recipients of hosts Subba and Renuka’s thoughtful attention to every little detail - from the care that went into every meal, to the planned excursions. The meditation and yoga practices led by Subba left me feeling so wonderfully refreshed. The staff were exceptionally friendly and competent. They remembered all our names from day one! They genuinely cared about our experience. We were there for my husband’s reunion retreat, but plan to come back with our family.

Recently, a group of us from the IIT Class of 1985, along with our spouses, decided to organize a retreat. We chose "BeingSattvaa" in Bali, hoping for a nice getaway, but what we experienced was truly one of the best vacations we have ever had.||From the moment we arrived, it didn't feel like checking into a hotel; it felt like arriving at a sanctuary. The ambience is breathtaking—tucked away in the serene surroundings of the woods, the resort feels completely immersed in nature. It provided the perfect backdrop for us to disconnect from our busy lives and truly reconnect with one another.||The experience was unique because of the personal touch. The staff were exceptional—warm, attentive, and incredibly, they knew every single one of us by name. It made us feel at home instantly.||Our days were a perfect blend of activity and relaxation. The host led us through mindful yoga sessions that set a peaceful tone for the day. This was complemented perfectly by the super healthy, delicious meals curated by the hostess; you could taste the care put into the food. When we weren't enjoying the wellness aspects, we were having a blast in the stunning infinity pool, which looks right out into the jungle, or exploring the cultural beauty of the local Water Temples.||"BeingSattvaa" wasn't just a place to stay; it was a place that nurtured our friendship and well-being. If you are looking for a venue that offers luxury with a soul, specifically for a group retreat, this is it. We left with full hearts and great memories.

Being Sattva is an outstanding getaway — and not just because it ticks every five-star box. Yes, the resort is spotless, the food is excellent, and the service is flawless. All of that is a given (and would clear any rigorous evaluation rubric). What truly makes Being Sattva unforgettable, though, are Subba and Renuka. They add something no five-star (or even seven-star!) hotel ever can — genuine personal care. From thoughtfully curated yoga sessions to unique local tour suggestions, and help that comes not from a checklist but from the heart, they elevate the entire experience to another level. You don’t feel like a guest here; you feel like home. Beyond great. Deeply personal. Truly unforgettable.

Lots of beautifully created spaces ideal for mingling, hanging out with friends balanced with spaces for solitude and reflection.||Friendly staff who serve you with a smile, learn your name the moment you arrive and take care of you like their own. ||The rooms are spacious, clean and well maintained. Tastefully decorated with locally resourced furniture.||Excellent food with locally sourced ingredients with many vegetables grown on site. Good selection and options from varied cuisine.||Perfect whether traveling solo or as couples or in large groups. Highly recommend.

Walking into Being Sattva was magical - we were welcomed by a recreation of Monet's Garden ! Every tree and every plant had a story recounted by Subba who took us around the garden. There were orchids and rare plants everywhere lovingly nurtured by Renuka and the chief gardener.|The yoga sessions in the morning were refreshing. The food was outstanding. The personal effort Renuka took to create each meal was heartwarming. The elai sappadu giving us a traditional south indian meal made us feel at home.|Subba had planned a itinerary and we enjoyed each one the trips - the waterfalls, temples and rice fields.|Soni Komang and everyone took very good care of us. Soni helped me get a tattoo artist and I got tatted !|We didn't feel we were in a resort. It felt like we were visiting Renuka and Subba's home, the way they took care of us.|A fantastic experience.
