I'm speechless. It's a mind blowing place, as for me, the most remarkable sight in Beirut so far. The space couldn't be designed more creatively; there are plentyful nostalgic artefacts, each square meter is visually stunning. And it's not at all superficial. Exhibition brings you much food for thought as it's about the war and people, who faced it.

One of the top ten things to explore when in Beirut. It is a great and well constructed museum commemorating the 15 year Lebanese civil war. The immersion is top notch as you venture through the dark and bullet riden corridors of the Barakat building. Many remnants of the past still remain wether it be snipers graffiti or past residents personal belongings. What was once a strategic military position on the demarcation line dividing East and West Beirut is now a tribute to the depravity and horrors of war. Admissions are free and the staff were kind and informative.

coming from a person who typically hates museums this museum was amazing. I didn’t know what to expect going into it but it’s a very immersive experience. The entrance was free and the staff were very helpful as well. The lovely lady at the desk gave me a brief history of the building and the displays in the museum and I learned so much. There’s so much to learn and as a tourist coming to a place like Beirut, it is up to us to learn about the history and understand it to get a better experience out of our stay and to pay respect forthose who have lost their lives in order to shape Beirut into what it is today. The exhibition was incredible and it was as if I was stepping into a time capsule. There were moments where I felt like I was almost brought to tears and it was just so well preserved and represented. Highly highly highly recommend for everybody even if you don’t like museums and thank you again to the lady at the desk.!

Museum about the civil war, placed in a half repaired building that was on the green line. Several individual exhibitions that take you through the experiences of those who lived through the war. Free entry, and definitely worth seeing. There was also a temporary exhition on the history of the Port of Beirut in light of the port explosion.

A testament to the dark devastating history of Lebanon's civil war. Located exactly on the Green line once dividing East with West Beirut, showcases what life would have been before the divide. The museum itself contains many remnants of this once studio in form of photos, furniture among many others. There is also a separate floor on the top dedicated to the Beirut Public Transport system info collected and collated by the local public giving birth to the busmap project. The Entry is free and you could easily spend about 1-1.5hrs here

Memory of Lebanon's civil war wounds. A special museum with great setting, a building restored while leaving the civil war marks, letting the visitor inspect & discover this dark part of Lebanon's recent history.

A truly hidden gem in the heart of Ashrafieh. One building with a thousand stories worth learning about. I won’t spoil anything in my review because you genuinely need to visit it your self! Free entry by the way.

A unique museum that documents the civil war in Lebanon through pictures, written text, and interviews. The museum spans over 3 floors with the ground floor showing the destruction of the building, the 1st floor shows chambers and its belongings, and the 2nd floor showing historic timelines. Entering the place is free. There are staff all around for questions. The place is well-documented and well-organized. Expect to spend 1 hour onwards here.
