Bekal Fort Homestay

We stayed 3 nights at this lovely homestay and we felt|immediately like being part of the family. It’s really a genuine homestay were hospitality and thoughtfulness is what you will remember. Anoop, the owner has a very good network and can arrange more or less everything for you. Anoops wife Prabha and his mother cooked us a variety of delicious dishes every day. All family members are very opened minded and we had some memorable and interesting conversations and we learned more about the life in Kerala.|We strongly recommend this homestay if you are visiting northern Kerala. You will get hospitality, delicious food and a warm family atmosphere.|If we’ll have a chance we’ll definitely be back again.

My wife and I stayed at Bekal Fort Homestay on 19th and 20th Jan 2019. We had an extremely memorable stay thanks to Anoop and his family. We travel a lot and have been to a lot of Homestays across the country and this definitely is one of the best amongst the lot. ||Anoop is an excellent host and suggested hidden gems in Bekal which we could have easily missed otherwise. ||We visited Azhithala beach on day 1 where the backwater meets the sea and the white sand beach was stunning! There were hardly few people in the entire beach and the coastline was breathtaking.|On our way back, we stopped at a Mookambikai temple and the peace and tranquility there was mesmerising.||Dinner was served to us at the time we had requested and Anoop's mother cooked us one of our all time favourite Kerala dishes. We being vegetarians were served with traditional 'Aviyal', 'Matta Rice', 'Papaya kootu','Beetroot Poriyal' and 'Poppadums'|If you are in Kerala and if you would like to taste the authentic dishes, do not miss Aviyal and aunty made a delectable spread according to our palette.||We got ready the next morning to visit the famous Theyyam dance at a nearby temple and what an experience it was! The entire village gathers to celebrate the Theyyam performance for gods and goddesses and it is an annual festival which takes place on 3 specific dates in January. We had no clue how lucky we were until we were told that our travel dates coincided with the Theyyam performance! ||Our breakfast for morning was Idiyappams and once again, a hearty meal awaited us. Another person who made our trip special was Chandran uncle. He was punctual, honest and took us around all the places at a very modest fare. I have travelled and stayed in homestays all over the globe. Would rank this as one of the best. Anoop and family are wonderful hosts, very warm and always helpful. A major attraction of this homestay is the truly outstanding food cooked by Anoop's mother. You are better off taking all your meals at this place because good, reasonably priced food options are lacking in Bekal. Travel and cab options were also very reasonably priced. I wish Anoop all the best and hope that his efforts to expand his business come to fruition.

Had a wonderful stay in Fort Bekal homestay. Warm reception, exceptional hospitality, felt like a home away from home. For the nature lovers - tranquility amidst indigenous flora that attracts birds of various types, for the keen tourists - a vantage location from where both Kasargod and Nileshwar areas can be explored, for the gastronomic savvy - home cooked traditional food... This was our first significant stop on a four-week tour of north and central Kerala. We stayed for three nights and enjoyed comfort and good hospitality. Our bedroom was comfortable, bathroom perfectly adequate and we were grateful for AC and Wifi. Our hosts were caring and provided a range of good, tasty Kerala dishes. Their son Anoop, who we didn't meet, arranged auto rickshaw transport for us to a few reasonably local attractions, the best of which was Bekal Fort. |Bekal Fort Homestay is in a fairly rural location. Thus peaceful and quiet but apart from a few local shops a short walk down the road, transport is needed to get around.|For this reason alone we give four stars not five.

One of the best place to stay in Bekal. Hosts are really nice and friendly people. Me and my husband stayed here for three nights and got to eat delicious Kerala cuisine ☺️. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Bekal fort and beach park are nearby. Anoop helped us to plan out our visit to places. We really enjoyed our time here.

We had a brilliant stay with Anoob and his family. They were really friendly and welcoming and helped us out with planning our stay in Bekal. Also, the food at the homestay was amazing. Will definitely come back next time we visit Kerala...

What a cute little homestay!||This surely gives us the feeling of home away from home. The regional food cooked by hosts was delicious!||Anup and his family did everything to make us feel comfortable. They sure were amazing hosts. ||The room prices were very economical too. Highly recommended.
