Rooms are in need of some TLC. However clean sheets, towels and bathroom was a plus. Also air-conditioning worked great. Someone was closing their door at night like they were the only ones there....loud. The staff was friendly and helpful they get 5 stars. Close to the ferry terminal, bank and a small grocery store.

When I arrived at the property I tried to connect into Wi-Fi because I have to have internet. The connection was terrible and I just could not get a stable connection. So I told them that I will have to cancel my reservation.
The hotel charged me a cancellation fee of one days rent even though they were the ones who promised Wi-Fi in their listing and could not provide it. When you say you have internet you have to give internet because some people rely on it for their work. Don't lie and say that you have internet when you don't. And don't charge the customer a fee for cancelling the reservation when it was your fault because you don't have internet.
The place is also in a shabby part of town. I didn't feel secure about that location.
I saw the room and it wasn't too bad but not very comfortable but a reasonable room for the price.
I am done with these budget Hotels and I think from now on it's better to pay an extra $15 per night to get a better hotel.
Edit: thank you for your reply. In response to that I will tell you that it was a clear day there were no weather issues. I chose another hotel and when I got there the internet connection was just fine and it was only a 10-minute walk from your hotel so it's the same weather area. Perhaps your weather excuse would be valid if there were bad weather that day but there wasn't. I think that you just got cheap internet service and you should upgrade your service if you're going to be a hotel that offers internet.

AC worked, staff was great, they held my bag prior to check in, & accommodated the extra 2 blankets that I requested & laundry for a cost. I walked to the markets, taxi stand, water taxis, & street food.
Cons
No heat - so, ask for blankets
Mosquitoes in the room - the staff provided the mosquito coil & most of the mosquitoes left

The hotel is well maintained and the staff are helpful and accessible if you need anything. It's in a convenient location and there are balconies on every floor overlooking the canal. The area can be a little sketchy at night, but the hotel is well secured and I felt safe there. The prices are very reasonable as well.

The Belcove is a good choice for budget minded travelers who want to see the real Belize City. Accommodations and furnishings are very basic and somewhat aged. However, everything is kept clean. Staff are accommodating and friendly. The location is very convenient and walkable. For being located downtown, the noise level wasn't too bad. I would stay there again.

Great place. Unsure about people stating it's in a dangerous part of the city, as it's in the MOST safe area I can think of, been coming here 25 years. City looks worse than it is. Had more people in Santa Barbara CA begging for money. Staf super helpful and friendly. Right by swing bridge 8 minute walk to water taxi. Dive bar near, on the water, or cross the St to a fancy overpriced touristy bar. Main St right there 5 minute walk to Brodie's stock up on cheap food/ water before heading to the cayes. I think people that don't travel much trip out about leaving the main St from the swing bridge. You have to pass 2-3 buildings where*gasp* people are drinking beer and eating from a taco truck. You might God forbid have someone ask you for a dollar or a cigarette and not even in an aggressive manner. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Do reserve ahead they can and do get booked. Try to specify you don't want the downstairs noisy rooms..the st noise and reception area will wake you up early otherwise. Anyone who feels this part of Belize City is dangerous is wrong..the South side is further down that's where you don't want to go. If you're on the way to the water taxi ask the staff to tell you where spoonaz restaurant is they serve a great breakfast. But you can't beat the Belcove for value, safety, location and cleanliness also as mentioned the staff are all awesome.
