This is a lovely, comfortable and friendly hotel in a great location. We can highly recommend!|First of all, though, a warning for anyone who cannot manage stairs. This hotel is of an age and doesn't have any lifts. Its stairs also wind slightly, so carrying luggage could be a problem for some, and the dining room is at the basement level, so you would need to negotiate at least some stairs every day!|The positives, however, are many.|The bed in our room was extremely comfortable, the room was very clean and, although not spacious, was perfectly acceptable with lots of hanging space and drawers for clothes. |The food was excellent, was beautifully presented and, we thought, offered plenty of choice. There was usually a choice of a meat dish, fish dish or vegetarian dish for the evening main meal. The starters were varied and there was also a great selection of delicious puddings or a cheese board for dessert. We were on a deal which included bed and breakfast and evening meal (no evening meal on a Wednesday as that is the chef's well deserved night off!) Hot breakfasts were very good and cooked fresh to order. No dried up scrambled egg here :) I now need to go on a diet!|The very best of this hotel, though, has to be awarded to the staff. I would be hard pressed to pick a favourite as they were all truly wonderful. So I will just name them here and take this opportunity to thank them for helping us have such a brilliant holiday:-|Daniel, the General Manager |Ben, the Head of all things Food and Drink Related|Lee, Harrison and Nid who all looked after us with patience and a smile (a special thank you has to go to Harrison for his recommendation of the strawberry ripple and gin cheesecake!)|Apologies to anybody whose name I missed - including the chef - we never saw him as he was always slaving away in the kitchen, but I have to thank him so much for feeding us so well!|Thank you all very much and we hope to come back as soon as we are able!
