The bell tower of the Cathedral is one of the recognizable symbols of Vilnius. In the 17th century, a clock with two bells was installed in one of the oldest and highest towers of the Old Town. To this day, the large bell chimes every hour, and the small bell chimes every quarter of an hour. The bell tower acquired its current appearance at the beginning of the 19th century. The 52 m high building (57 m with the cross) is a cultural heritage site of Vilnius. The bell tower offers a breathtaking panorama, as well as a view of three sculptures above the pediment of the Cathedral, one of which is an image of St. Casimir. Citizens and visitors of the city who climb the bell tower can see an exhibition of bells, an old city clock, and study historical reconstructions of previous views of the bell tower and the Cathedral.

The freestanding, 52-metre-high bell tower of Vilnius Cathedral began its life as a defensive tower of the 14th-century Lower Castle (the loopholes are still visible). It is assumed that the tower served as a bell tower as early as the 15th century and was raised with an octagonal Gothic-style storey. The tower was raised twice more (in 1550 and 1598) and after the fire of 1610, the damaged bell tower had to be renovated in addition to the church. Due to its age and unstable subsoil, the tower now leans slightly.

Price: 6€ Time: 15 minutes Nice view of the city to take pictures that can only been see from this tower. You can climb the belltower to have a small viewing window on top. The climb has small stairs until arriving to the bell floor where it change to wood. The big bell will ring at o'clock and the small bells will ring every 15 minutes. On top, you can open the metallic window to take nice pictures.

Price: €5 per person for entrance Offer: Great view of the Old Town To be honest, I JUST LOVE VILNIUS UNIVERSITY AND ST. JOHN’S CATHEDRAL. So much so that after visiting here with cloudy weather, I decided to come back as soon as it gets sunny the next day. 😂 The cathedral is absolutely breathtaking and beautiful. The bell tower is very different from those viewpoints I’ve visited before. It does a wonderful job maintaining the tower as the way it was built. It has lift to bring you up to the 4th floor and just a little stair up, then you will reach the balcony. For those who afraid of heights, please be mentally prepared for the lift and climbing. Be brave for this time and I guarantee you it’s absolutely worth it! The only problem is that at the balcony, because they didn’t put any extra fence on the balcony to block your sight, I would say it can be kind of dangerous. The tower is very high to a point that you wouldn’t want to climb to sit on the balcony for pictures anyway but I would be extra careful if I had a naughty kid.

The Bell Tower is right in front of the Vilnius Cathedral. It’s beautiful and historical. It’s a famous landmark and makes a stunning background for selfies. There’s a museum inside the Vilnius Bell Tower. We went inside to see this historical site. I was impressed of it’s history and the museum display, as well as the old clock there. We climbed up the tower with its old narrow wooden stairs. Nice view from above. We paid €6 per adult.

A view that will dominate any visit to Vilnius. Beautiful structure in front of the cathedral. Took the trip up. Was met by an incredibly friendly and informative member of staff. Interesting to see all the bells and then to listen to their relaxing chimes. Great views of Vilnius city when you reach the top. As ever with old buildings if you're the same height as me, watch your head!!

The tower is a landmark of Vilnius. It is located next to the cathedral and almost at the center of the old town. I’ve visited the tower during Christmas time. There was a decorated Christmas tree next to the tower. Unfortunately, tower is inaccessible to people with walking disability. Entrance fee was 6 euros. There are souvenirs available inside the tower. I have added the video of climbing up the tower through the narrow stairs and view from the top of the tower. Takes about 5 minutes to climb up. The bells of the tower ring hourly; so if you want to see the bells ring up close, try to visit near the top of the hour. Be careful if you don’t want to hurt your ears, cover them up with something, but it’ll be probably ok for most of the people for a short period of time. Bells rang for a couple of times when there was 15 minutes to the top of the hour, and rang for about 5 minutes or so on the top of the hour. Would suggest you visit if you’re at Vilnius.
