Bell Witch Cave

So much fun! The property/experience is owned and operated by a family that takes so much pride and care in management of the farm, burial grounds, cave, and cabin. Very professional and knowledgeable team! We did the 3 hour lantern tour with Candy and Makenzie as our guides. They were awesome! The tour was the perfect mix of history and paranormal stories. The cave was amazing!! We recommend wearing waterproof hiking boots with good ankle support. Thank you for such an amazing evening! We can't wait to go back ❤️

This place is amazing! Truly enjoyed the casual tour and i loved our cave guide! He knew his stuff, was friendly, and made the tour relaxing for those of us who are a little claustrophobic... then our farm tour was lead by a wonderful lady and we learned a lot! Highly recommend and will go back for sure!!!

This is a great tourist attraction if you love folklore, local history, or caves! I grew up hearing stories of the Bell Witch, so it was awesome to hear the guide’s retelling and actually put a place to it. Wait was about 20 minutes in order to get a full group on a Sunday, and the staff was kind. The cave was amazing on its own, and you’ll learn more about its history that doesn’t involve the haunting. The guide was excellent, and we even saw some neat critters. The cave isn’t accessible for those with mobility issues or very small children due to loose rocks, low clearances, and slippery areas, but my clumsy four-year-old did just fine—even after a few days of rain. We were a little slower than the rest of the group, but our guide was friendly and patient with us.

10 out of 10 recommend. I didnt really have intense paranormal experiences however I heard a spat type sound for sure. The family that own the property are top notch! Very kind very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I will be making another trip down with my other family members so they can experience it.

The Bell Witch Cave and John Bell Cabin was an adventure! The experience in the cave and the stories told are epic. The guides definitely know their history and make the tour through the cabin and cave so much fun! Definitely recommend!

We did the lantern tour last night with Autumn as our guide. She did an amazing job and was very patient and understanding with our small group. She took her time, gave us great historical information. The cave is a challenge ( wear good shoes ) but so worth seeing such a beautiful natural historical place. The family is doing a fantastic job at keeping this alive!! I hope to return again one day!! So much to see!! Thank You again, Autumn, for a great experience!!

I have always been interested in the paranormal. Guess it's because my mom died when I was 10, and I longed for signs and connections. I have many years of unusual spiritual experiences. And have been drawn here, because of its dramatic history. A bit of history, On a secluded farm about 30 minutes from Clarksville, in Adams, Tennessee, lies the Bell Family Farm and the Bell Witch Cave. One of the most documented cases of a haunting in American history, most people have heard the story of the Bell Witch. From 1817 to 1821, a man named John Bell and his family were harassed by a mysterious and invisible spirit now known as the Bell Witch. According to the legend, the witch had the ability to speak, shapeshift, and be in multiple places at once. Former president Andrew Jackson was quoted as saying "I had rather face the entire British Army than to spend another night with the Bell Witch" after he and some of his troops spent a night at the Bell's farm. The tour is good, the area and history draw you in. I felt sadness, and history, energy lingering. There are books, movies, songs about this family, and scientific research. There are paranormal tours, and more for your enjoyment of the unknown!

I was sooo excited to visit the Bell Witch Cave during my trip to Tennessee! It was a bit of a bummer that no photography was allowed in the cabin, and no video in the cave, but I believe that's their attempt at hoping nobody video records the entire experience and posts it online. Anyway, it was a great experience overall. Spooky vibes, and if you're sensitive to paranormal activity, you'll likely feel plenty of things while walking around and into the cave, given the fact that the cave is directly below an old Native American burial site. I was very excited about this detour while on a road trip to Nashville, and it honestly disappointed me. An adult ticket is $23 and includes a tour of the cave and a tour of a replica of the Bell cabin. You have to sign a waiver before going on a tour. If you know nothing about the Bell Witch legend, maybe the tour of the cabin is worth it. But honestly you can learn more from a podcast than what I learned on the tour. The replica cabin is poorly staged, and you can't take pictures. There is an "exclusive" museum room in the cabin with genealogical information about the family, which is interesting but not extensive. The cave itself is very cool. You get to go into 2 areas of the cave, and the tour lasts about 40 minutes. However, fair warning -- this cave tour is not easy or accessible. I'm not sure how the other reviewers are calling this super easy. There are tons of stairs and steep gravel pathways to get to and from the cave entrance. The paths inside the cave have not been altered to help with tours, so the ground is wet gravel with running water. The passageways are skinny, and you have to be completely bent over for a large section of it. We had to crawl and climb to see some features. Do not do this tour without closed toed shoes with traction. There were people on our tour who slipped and fell. I love doing spooky and scary experiences, and this tour didn't live up to the hype. We got minimal scary stories on the cabin and cave tour. In my opinion, it's definitely not worth the money or the time to drive to the middle of nowhere for this.

So cool. A little disappointed that the cabin is just a replica and you can't take photos in it. But the cave was amazing. Our tour guide was very good and funny. I didn't get to experience anything supernatural but it was still amazing!

Prior to coming, I called multiple days to try and get information about the tour and if the tours were still running, due to rain. I received no call back. We decided to take a risk and drive out there and chance they were open. They were. The tour start times were very random. They just said to wait by the entrance of the replica cabin. Based on the photos of the actual house. The replica house didn't look like it. The replica house was also not at the actual location of where the supposed hauntings took place. The burial grounds of the family, is not owned by the property owners, is not located on the property and is not available for tours. The cost for the tour of the cabin and cave was $23. It's a little much for such a short tour of a replica cabin and the cave tour. They do have a military a senior citizen discount for $19. The cave itself was very cool. Apparently it used to be an Indian burial ground. Overall, there was a witch story told about this location. It's not at the actual site and you can't see the graves of the family that was supposedly being haunted. But the cave is cool.

This tour is a fun tour filled with history and ghost stories. The cave is about 69 degrees year round so it's a great activity to do when it's hot! You definitely need close toe shoes with good tread. If you are claustrophobic you might want to reconsider the cave. One lady slipped and fell because she didn't have on the right shoes. Another guest felt uncomfortable because of the tightness in parts of the cave. For me I enjoyed every minute and our guide was great! I would go back if I am ever in the area.

There was so many people on the tour it was uncomfortable. After not all being able to fit into the cabin and hear the story; we got sent down the hill to the cave where 30 MORE people are. So now 60ish people shoved in this small cave. The tour guide Cara, even made the comment of how she'd never had that many people shoved in there before. We couldn't see anything or "explore" because there's so many people and unable to move around. Literally, all shoved in there like sardines. Insanely expensive to be so many people shoved together. The tour should have been broken up more and not so many people. Extremely disappointed. BORING!!! $23 to walk around a replica house to hear a story you can read about on the internet. I want a refund!

Fantastic tour , tour guides were awesome and knowledgeable . It would've been good if the cabin was real, not the replica was not disappointed .I would recommend it .

Our tour guide Eric I believe his name was excellent, very well detailed, and with his southern accent he told the story somewhat like how Morgan Freeman does his narrating in his movies. I would recommend that you give it a tour if you're in Tennessee. We brung all of our kids and my cousins from California came with us and we had a great time!

Beautiful scenery, great history. The cabin story was well put together, and tour guide was awesome. It was like touring with a friend. The cave was amazing! We loved climbing through and hearing the history behind the bell family and the bell witch! Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back.

SUPER awesome tour guides. Cooper and Blaine guided my group through the cabin and the cave, respectively. Both had a great personal flair and were excellent storytellers. I was in a small group (five people), and our guides were so personable they made us all feel at ease and like we were there to discuss the legend rather than stand and have a boring, scripted speech barked at us. We start with a tour around the Bell cabin replica, discussions in every room, and then took a little time out in the 'museum room' to chat with our tour guide and wait for part 2, which was the cave tour. The cave tour included one story about the Bell haunting, but the rest of it was just a super cool exploration of a natural wonder. Being August, it was great to be in the 58-degree cave for awhile to cool off. Blaine did a great job telling us about everything, and even put me at ease, and I am extremely claustrophobic! Fair warning: wear close-toed shoes, and don't go if you need mobility aids. I dropped off a star because this tour destination needs some FINESSING. There is no bathroom - just a portapotty outside. Come on, y'all. We are walking through a cave where bats poop; let's get some running water going here so we can wash our hands. Also, the Bell cabin needs some crucial updates. The museum looks like a 5th grader's book report, and the cabins aren't much better. They could totally up the creepy factor, though the dying John Bell mannequin is fantastic. Why not have a section of employee stories? Our tour guide said the most annoying question is when people ask 'have you ever seen a ghost'? Put that on paper, display it next to your name, and have employee experiences be part of the museum! That would be way more interesting to read than a collage of newspaper articles from the mid-1900's. Also, let's read up on fan theories and include them in this museum. Are there conspiracy theories about why the real Bell cabin was torn down? Surely they exist...Theories that the witch was a manifestation of Betsy's troubled adolescence, or that it was Lucy all along...amp up people's suspicions and get creative! This is one of the coolest stories in American history, so it should rival any tour they give in Salem or Sleepy Hollow. But don't change a thing about your personnel. They were so fun, kind, and personable, which is exactly what you want when touring a demon's former home. :)

Loved it! So cool. Definitely some spirits down there. The tour guide was super awesome as well. It's really beautiful and serene. A bit intimidating if you're afraid of tight dark spaces but super cool. Worth the venture. Beautiful place overall!

Bell Witch Lantern 3 hour tour was fun. Started off crazy because they told us 8:30 pm when it actually started at 7.. we got a call after 7 asking if we were still coming. We were actually on our way out the door so we could be early. Now we were really late. We drive like crazy to get there. We get there a little after 8 and we're placed with the 2 hour group. They were already going through the pictures. Apparently, both tours were to start at 7 and the 3 hour tour had already left. I felt bad for the 2 hour tour goers who had to wait for us. They were understanding but to me this was so unprofessional on all accounts. We did get to see some pictures, we saw see a replica cabin but have no idea if anyone inside was authentic, the cave, a "grave site" and an "Indian burial ground." Now, the price for a 3 hour tour is $50 a person (4 person minimum, but they waived that because they had enough on the tour) and it is not worth $50. Price for a 2 hour tour is $35 a person and much more reasonable but actually $25 a person would be sufficient. The tour was about an hour and a half tops. The only difference is the "burial grounds." The cave part was really cool. I know a lot about the cave because of my younger years and my parents telling me stories. So seeing it again was cool. The cabin is a replica of what the actual cabin would have looked like but the house would have set on a different part of land. The burial ground for the Bell family is on a different part of land that they don't own and is fenced off. They do have a nice tombstone marker that says about where the actual graves are. The Indian burial ground was just some land and trees on top of the cave. Not saying it doesn't have Indians buried there but it wasn't much to see and they didn't have much to say about it. Only that the previous owners had dug into the land and found remains. Now, due to their mistake (I have the emails of the wrong time given) we didn't get any discounts or anything extra. The only thing was instead of riding on a wagon or whatever the others took (we could hear the a a tractor) we got to go with the owner and her friend in a Jeep. Because we paid for that part of the tour.. Hopefully, they can make it way better than it is currently as the grown kids have taken on the business.. They need to all be on the same page of bookings, they need to really up the game on the information on the cabin, they had a good story on the cave but could have been so much better, the "graves" well, those are a joke. If you're going to have a tombstone you need to have more to say about it and not claim anything regarding it being the grave site because it's not! Also, the Indian graves need to have some sort of authenticity. They should have pictures, when those graves were found, anything to give you the proof. There is nothing! Don't do the 3 hour tour. The 2 hour tour would be perfect and just as sufficient. You're not missing anything by not seeing a tombstone and the top part of the cave which is just land. Good Luck on your adventures. The Bell Witch story is cool and The Cave is cool.

Very scary and amazing experience, definitely recommend going before Halloween and towards closing time! Saw orbs, shadow figures, found artifacts that they didn't even know about. DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING FROM THE CAVE!! It is said that if you do that it brings bad junk until it's returned, my girlfriend posed with the grace in the cave and I promise you shit started happening in the house that couldn't be explained. Not sure who or what followed us home but we casted it away now. Do your research, watch some videos.if you like historic scary stuff then this is a good place to go!

Went on the 3 hour lantern tour. Very unorganized. A lot of waiting and general disorganization. I expected more for $58 ($50 + tax) No lanterns. Had to use our phones for a flashlight. Very long winded stories. Porta potties needed to be emptied. Not awful but disappointing. Not saying I expected professionalism but it was pretty unprofessional. Our tour started at 7 and gates were not opened until about 10 minutes till. Not sure why we couldn't get in and park in their parking lot at the gift shop. Cars waiting on narrow 2 lane road on a hill at night was dangerous.

We decided to stop at the Bell Witch Cave while visiting nearby Dunbar Cave one weekend. We did the cabin and cave tour. We didn't have any issues with the venue being closed or having to wait very long for our tour to start (about 15 minutes of waiting time). The cabin tour was interesting - you get to learn more about the bell witch legend before going into the cave. The cave tour was awesome. Just heads up that the rocks are slippery, you have to crouch down and watch that you don't hit your head. We had none of these issues but could see it potentially being an issue for some. It was very neat and would highly recommend it! I do believe they offer candlelight tours for the Halloween season which sounds cool.

*visited 7/13/2022 As a paranormal buff, this was on my bucket list of "to-dos" while visiting family in TN. Drove about 1.5 hours family of 9 ( 3 adults 5 kids 8-15 y/o and one 2 y/o) All staff was friendly & knowledgeable, answered questions before the tour started. Our tour guide was ( I believe) Eric. His accent combined with the story telling of the history and his personal paranormal experiences was everything. The cabin is a replica but cool nonetheless- one room has photos, newspapers articles & books of the bell witch, along with other historical documents . The cave is down a hill (what goes down must come up) prepared to get slightly wet, there is water dripping & little pools. The cave floor is rocks and low rock formation ceilings- safety is key as it does get slippery. it was worth my $18 and drive time for the experience Thank you for opening this to the public!

It was a pretty cool adventure. I had never heard the story and the history of the area and I found the workers to be very informative and knowledgable. We did have issues though. The cabin is NOT worth the $8 fee to go into. You sit, listen to a audio tape (that's a little hard to hear,) and you can't even take photos inside the cabin. The cave, however was very cool. I wish the guide was a little slower walking but otherwise it was good, family fun!

Enjoyed the walking tour of the Bell Witch Cave and learning about the family who lived in the home nearby. Gift shop has picture postcards and other items to remember your visit so there's no need to touch or take home anything from this historical site. There's a whole book of letters from previous visitors who disrespected the Bell Witch by touching or taking items from her home. Good walking shoes are highly recommended.

I had such a fun time, highly recommended this spot!! The owners are awesome and have kept this place in its natural state. It's a must see!

We went for a girls weekend experience and really enjoyed both the cabin and cave. The guides were great, the staff were welcoming and we were able to ask plenty of questions. Thinking of going back again in the fall for a spooky experience!

Great outing for exploring. We toured both the cabin and the cave. WARNING!! some areas of the cave are very low and you much crouch, bend over etc. The walk down to cave is steep and the walk back out is a high hill. If you have mobility issues this is not for you! There is water in the cave, you might get wet shoes, dripped on and the humidity is high. The cave itself is fascinating. The water is ice cold. there are a few areas where there might be a breeze. They encourage you to take lots of pictures in the cave, NO VIDEO AT ALL in either place though. We look forward to next summer so we can come back and try the tubing. The area is beautiful. The owners are on property giving tours. The cabin is just ok. Its something to do once. ANOTHER WARNING, very young children are not allowed on either tour. porta-pottys near ticket office

We drove 6 hours to visit and upon arrival the gates were locked. The website and the sign clearly stated that they were open with no reservations needed. So we called the phone number listed and got an answering machine stating that they were closed until further notice. Very irritated.

If you are into supernatural. This is certainly a fun place to visit. The gentleman in the overalls is very present there. He has his family running this tourist attraction. They're not the most informed, But you can definitely see that they believe it that these supernatural powers are real. It is a hike. Wear safe foot wear. My husband honestly didn't think that it was quite worth the money. But I personally kind of wanna go back. Certainly a fun thing to do for Halloween if you don't want to go through a really scary haunted house. But you want to be scared just a little bit. At the inside of the cave is amazing. I even might have captured a little bit of light that is unexplained.

I think this is a really good supernatural location. I captured a really good white orb on the trail leading to the cave. When we got to the cave our group was well into it. I stopped in my tracks before entering. I haven't felt like that in a long time. Kind of uneasy and cautious. I'll definitely go back.

my boyfriend and i went to the cave tour today and it was amazing! only the cave tour was available. the walk to the cave is a bit steep, but not bad and well worth it. weather in tennessee was humid and so hot. however, inside the cave is nice and cool. there's a stream of water running inside the cave so it is a bit muddy, not bad at all. i wore vans shoes and i was good. our tour guide was so knowledgeable on the Bell Witch and its history. she was lovely, and had so many stories, as well as so much info. if you like all things scary, this is a must!

This place was definitely worth the drive. The scenery on the way up was just beautiful. The environment as a whole was breathtaking! Then once you get to the cave the vibe definitely feels different. Some of my pictures definitely came out a bit odd even at the end when it was just my husband and I talking with the trail guide (who was awesome btw for letting us really take our time and getting the chance to be alone in there). We didn't do the cabin just because it's a replica but it worked out anyway considering it was too hot for the cabin. The cave was definitely worth the trip! I'm going to make sure to post up some of my pictures.

We thought it would be fun to check out the Bell Witch during the Friday before Halloween. The Bell Witch Cave was interesting enough, but we didn't get any real ghost stories, just assurances that spooky things had happened there. Apparently, they only take cash after 4:30, and the place didn't even open until 6:00 pm. Really? And the cabin wasn't open at all. Really? However, I did get closer to the Bell Witch cabin than Andrew Jackson did. Supposedly, Jackson said that he'd rather face the British in another battle, than meet the Bell Witch again. But truth-be-told, fighting the British was one of Jackson's favorite things. My daughter and I thought a hayride would be fun, but I've always thought that a hayride implied the use of some hay. But not here. The ride was a utility trailer being pulled by a tractor. There were no hay bales to sit on, so everyone was sitting cross-legged on the trailer bed. Seriously, I am way too old for that kind of nonsense. But I guess I can check the Bell Witch off of my bucket list.

Not worth all the Publicity. Dirty hole in the ground they charge you money to look at. The people who run it are "Interesting" might keep your ears open for Banjos.

Lame... we were there on a Saturday night. Be prepared to stand in lines for hours. They sold way too many tickets and we're too unorganized for that big of a crowd. We stood in line for an hour for the cave tour then we're told it was gonna be another hour. We left. Waste of money.

I can't quite say this is worth visiting, unless you are interested in the paranormal and/or history or at least have some knowledge of what has become known as the Bell Witch Haunting. I went last Halloween, and it was somewhat underwhelming. This cave is in the middle of nowhere, more than an hour from Nashville, and it cost $12 to enter the fairly small cave, or $18 for a combined cave/cabin tour. This was farm country; the proprietors looked like very home-grown folk, which for an Asian suburban student made the encounter a tad awkward, though they simply let me purchase a ticket and told me where to go. First the legend; long story short, this is supposedly the only place where a ghost has been recorded to kill someone. After one Kate Batts was cheated out of a deal with a John Bell in the early 1800s, she supposedly cursed him and his family with a violent poltergeist haunting that involved floating objects, people getting beaten and stuck with pins from unseen elements, and a ribald, swearing, singing ghost. Supposedly this Bell Witch drove off a ghostbusting attempt by Andrew Jackson, broke up a marriage and eventually poisoned John Bell before disappearing. I have heard a dozen versions of this, some genuinely freaky, the guides however were much less interesting. They seemed to be local high school students hired by the farm, and they seemed to follow a playbook fairly strictly. It was much more interesting when, while waiting to enter the cave, they talked personally about the town, the owners, and their paranormal encounters in the cave. The cave itself is a fairly small, dry cave made up of two chambers connected by two tunnels that flood in the rains. This was supposedly where Kate Batts lived, and folklore says she resides to this day. It is quite wet underfoot, though you could find your way across without getting wet on you sneakers. The first chamber contains a Cherokee(?) grave, while the second chamber has some formations, including one shaped like a human skull. Here most of the hauntings are said to occur, cameras malfunctioning, people getting pushed etc. Could be creepy. Except for the dozen people crowding the chamber. My camera worked fine too. Also on the property is a replica of the Bell Cabin. Looked authentic enough, though again the guides lacked that good stoytelling skill. I did meet some interesting people who would participate in such a tour, including some guy who came down from Illinois; we had a nice chat about the legend and its source and embellishments after the tour. If you are genuinely interested in the morbid, it is worth your time and money. It would help to read up upon the story before you come however, to get in the proper mindset for a American Haunting.

Definitely worth taking the time to checkout. The tour guide was very informative and was super friendly. Did the tour of the cave only but there is an option to tour the cabin as well. I had seen the movie American Haunting but obviously Hollywood took some liberties to sell the movie. We didn't experience any paranormal activity while in the cave. However, in reviewing the photos we took, there were a large and a small shadow in the shape of what appeared to be an adult and child that appeared in my photos at three different places in the cave. I'd say to definitely go around Halloween. I'm sure it'll add to the story and the experience.

If I could give the Bell Witch Cave negative stars, I would. My experience on June 6, 2019 was the most insane and terrifying experience in my life not due to the tour, but the owners. My friend, myself and two children decided to set out for a day adventure approximately two hours away to experience this historic site. We made sure we read the rules and times of operation before arrival. Their website states they are open from 10am-5pm and no appointment necessary. Therefore, we arrived a little before noon. Upon entering the gate, it was clear the gate was latched, NOT LOCKED. We tried to call the office number for the cave, but were having an extremely difficult time due to cell signal. So, since it was not clearly locked we decided to go ahead and drive towards the office to figure out what was going on. While I was driving I was approached by the legendary 'man in blue-overalls' head on in his blue pick up. He blocked me in, jumped out of the car and started screaming in my face. He asked what I thought I was doing here? And to get off his property! I also stepped out of my car in this man's rage as a protective mother, not knowing what he was capable of. At first, I really thought this was some kind of sick joke until I realized how serious he was. Keep in mind, I had two small children in the back seat that were absolutely terrified by this man's encounter. Myself and friend are two young women in our mid twenties and certainly do not look suspicious by any means. Instantly, I apologized to the man and told him we tried to call, but where having difficulty with service. I stated, the sign says your open for business so how are we supposed to know? At that time, my friend was able to make the phone call to the office while the man was screaming at me. The lady informed us that they are closing due to the rain, which at the time it wasn't raining an ounce. I informed them we drove two hours and they could care less. He kept screaming at me to get in my car and never come back! So, I got back in my car with adrenaline pumping through every ounce in my body. He was following me out of the gate at the point. I was scared and didn't know whether I should get out and un-latch the gate myself or this deliverance type psychopath behind me was going to do it. So, I get back out (flight or fight mindset) to get the hell out of there as fast as I could. He also insists of getting out of his truck to continue yelling at me and I was trespassing on private property, he was going to get my license plate and I was to never set foot on his property ever again! I'm sorry, but how is it considered trespassing when it is a business open to the public, no appointment necessary and we were there during open business hours??? I am still in shock of the events that took place at the Bell Witch Cave, it is clear this man "Walter" is his name if you would like to know is clearly unstable and should be shut down. I have never been so scared for the safety of my children and would have never thought an event like this would take place. Therefore, I am posting this as a warning to all interested in visiting the Bell Witch Cave. It is such a shame because it is such a historic landmark that could be a great experience to interested visitors. I believe there is good and evil in this world and Walter made it very clear that dark forces are attached to this property. I hope no one else ever has to go through the same experience at the Bell Witch Cave. PLEASE BEWARE!!!! They don't deserve your business!!!

We had the best time! The owners (especially Chris the wife) were knowledgeable and fun to interact with once you get them talking. This is a great place to visit for authentic Tennessee history and lore, there's nothing else like the legend of the Bell Witch! If you don't have appropriate shoes (the cave is Rocky and wet!) They have golashes at the gift shop. ***I'm editing because I think there's an interesting point that may help people planning to visit*** Please be respectful if you plan to visit the Bell Witch Cave. It is located on private property -- it is a WORKING FARM. Please make sure your expectations are reasonable, this is not a theme park and I think you will have a wonderful time if you appreciate this is a family run side business that allows people the privilege to experience one of America's most famous ghost stories. I really recommend coming out! Bring a picnic lunch in case there's a wait!

In response to Bell Witch's inaccurate statement to Julia S: Of course as a business owner, you are going to counter my statement an deem it to be inaccurate. Therefore, you twist the words of the true account to make yourself look better. As I stated, the gate was latched, not locked upon arrival. We arrived during business hours and attempted to call at the gate. How many individuals do you think would drive two hours to visit a facility during hours of operation and simply turn around? How are we supposed to know this is not a standard procedure for every car that arrives? Perhaps, it is a way to track the vehicles arriving on site. If it was supposed to be locked, you need to notify customers, and use a legitimate LOCK not a dog clip, so they are not in fear for their lives on the grounds of YOUR property! Secondly, the call was made after the gate was opened, NOT BEFORE! My friend was speaking with you and I commented that I was in the drive when you informed us you were closing at that moment due to the rain. At the time, it wasn't even raining. You were not polite or nice about the unfortunate situation and that is when your husband hastily approached my vehicle and berated us! I apologized to your husband, but it was useless. Of course, I would tell you, you just lost a customer. Who wouldn't with this type of treatment??? My friend did indeed hang up the phone out of fear of our lives and lives of children! Therefore, how can this account be overdramatized? So what can you say for all other bad reviews for your business? They are all lying too, and falsify information? I'm sure this a typical response for all inquiring customers you have failed time and time again. Great job, Bell Witch Cave Owners! You really do this business justice. PLEASE ALL: Read this incompetent response depicted by the Bell Witch Cave Owners. They will twist your words and true accounts while visiting the property. There is no wonder you can't have video on their property due to the owners unstable behavior! This behavior can only be justified by incompetent degenerates that feel it is okay to scream at women and children.

I am still uncertain on how I was able to talk 3 of my galpals into signing up for a hour drive and forking over $25 on a Saturday night to experience the Bell Witch tours...that's what friends are for? I don't regret having the experience because it was a fun outing. I also did gain some interesting facts about the paranormal experiences that supposedly occurred in this area. We booked a 45 minute tour of the Bell Cabin + Cave for $25 but declined to upgrade to the $50 package that included a 20 minute tour of the Native American burial grounds, tour of the dells, and a peek into a photo album of paranormal proof. I was disappointed that none of the descriptions of this tour (that were listed on the website) acknowledged that the tour of the "Bell Cabin" is actually a replica of the actual Bell Cabin. Mind you, they did a fantastic job with the replica and outfitted it with period accurate furnishings, mannequins, and artifacts but this should have been disclosed at an earlier time. Our tour guide answered questions and gave some information on the legend of the Bell Witch but much of the story-telling was done by a tape recorded voice. We had to squeeze into all of the rooms due to the over-booking of the tour. There were over 30 in our group which does take away from the ambiance and spook factor. The 2nd leg of our tour included a tour of the Bell Cave led by a young frat brother who unassumingly took away from the ambiance again. He was nice enough but joked way too much throughout and didn't give enough factual information or real life experiences. If I wanted a laugh, I would head to Zanie's. I paid to get spooked out and learn about a local legend, thank you very much. The cave was fantastic and had a definite spooky vibe but yet again that was killed by the herd of people that were booked on the tour and the fact that we were crammed for space and time. I don't think that my review would have been even been 3 stars if I would have purchased the $50 package. There just wasn't enough of an experience for that kind of money. However, I still had fun with my friends but we can have fun practically anywhere. TIP: This place is worth checking out for $25 but I would suggest avoiding the Halloween crowd and going during a different time of the year.

My daughter totally freaked (13 years old) and we didn't even make it in. My friends continued on the tour without us. They said there isn't really a witch but some super cool rock formations. Big Tip......wear shoes that can get wet. There is a tiny creek that you have to walk through for part of the tour. Oh yeah, there is a sign in front that says "No Profanity". I think that is funny!

This is one of my annual Halloween outings. I love going up here to hear the stories of the Bell Witch and tour the cave. It's always fun to take a big group of friends, especially newbies. It is a bit of a drive from Nashville, but totally worth it. Depending on who your guide is, you can usually get some unique/crazy/fun tales of the witch and the Bell family. In the cave there is also a disturbed Indian grave an they tell you if you take anything from the area you'll be cursed. Yes, it's hooky, but it's fun. Their have been many movies made about her/it "American Haunting" and "The Blair Witch Project" were all based on it. During the Halloween season they do have haunted hayrides, psychics and concessions. The directions on the site are actually pretty easy to follow so don't worry about getting stuck in the middle of nowhere. You do park in a field, so if you have a weeny car, be sensitive of that.

So there have been several movies that have been based on the Bell Witch. This location serves as a nice little escape into the weirdness of the south and ghosts. Both can be very disturbing. I went out there with friends one evening We arrived very late and the police basically harrassed us b/c we had pulled down the driveway and noticed that it was closed and tried to back out. They pretty much gave us a hard time for nothing. We ended up coming back the next day with a bad taste in our mouth. Its good to go in October when the weather is better for the cabin. You can schedule cabin tours and even psychic readings. Even if you dont believe in the mumbo jumbo...it can be lots of fun with friends. Cave tours $10 cabin tours $5

I'm giving the cave 4 stars just because of the historic significance & how glorious the property is. We drove from Nashville on Halloween for the "Bell Witch "Fest" , my group bought tickets for both the cave & cabin tour. We toured the cabin first and the tour guide(Elizabeth) seemed immediately extremely bored & annoyed to be there, she played a narrated CD about the history of the cabin while she just texted on her phone /did her makeup and described what we were looking at with phrases like "this is a room... and stuff, whatever " ...but it was only $8 so I can live with that. The cave tour was much better, there was a different guide that was very informative and friendly. The cave itself was awesome and creepy! The drive there was beautiful as well!

This location is, in one respect, a lot like any other haunted locale that you can visit. If you are a non-believer--it's not likely to make a believer out of you. If you are a believer this is a decent stop on your to-see list. The owner, who was on this day manning the gift shop, could learn a bit from the adage that you attract more flies with honey than vinegar.
