Bella Cafe & Pizza Bar

Incredibly popular pizza place in Kingscote. When we were there, there was a continuous stream of people picking up pizza. Different people have different preferences when it comes to pizza. I found the base here slightly on the doughy side and the pineapples on the Hawaiian unfortunately overcooked (yes fine, some will say that’s why they don’t belong on pizza). For me the standout was the pasta though which was beautifully done. Service was warm and friendly. A good choice if you’re visiting.

Best pizza and hot chips on the island!! The chicken salt on the chips remind me of when I was a kid, 😋 Vanilla slices are delicious also. You will have to try the creamy chicken fettuccine, omg YUMMM all house made!!! We have been coming here for years & they have been delivering our food to us for a long time. Definitely our favourite place in Kingscote. Always a delicious hot meal & amazing service. Thanks guys! Yous all rock 🤤 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Dropped in on spec & couldn’t be happier. Chilli prawn linguine was excellent as was the chicken bacon mushroom w/herb fettuccine. The highlight for me was the vanilla slice (house made) best ever, even though I had to take away to eat later - so worth it.😎 Great to see a constant flow of local picking up T/away too.

GREAT food, which was very obvious by the amount of take away orders being made. We had both pasta specials, pizzas and chips-was all very tasty (the ragu pasta and the gnocchi were next level amazing) The staff working were very friendly and helpful, even with how busy they were. Thank you for a great meal! It is our 21st wedding anniversary today, and was a fabulous place to eat with our whole family.

Absolutely delicious and well-priced. The young lady at the front desk was delightful and delivered excellent service. Our order arrived promptly, despite the restaurant being fully booked and us arriving earlier than our scheduled reservation

Cozy restaurant in KI ! We dropped in for dinner, although the reviews rave about pizza I’d highly recommend to try the burgers!! The burgers were super juicy, chicken was cooked well and they did add caramelised onions and a sauce that was on point! (not ketchup) . We ordered a prawn pizza, it’s alright. Chili flakes come with additional charge of $2. Place offers beers that’s local.

Extreme expensive! Food is below average to say the least extremely expensive for basic oven pizza. $177.00 for 4 pizza and 2 pasta dishes takeaway.(pizza burnt and pasta had fish taste) all food wasn’t eaten. Girl taking order at the front desk was rushed off her feet and resulted in her being extremely rude when taking the order more training needed. Waiting time was in excess of 1hour & 20 minutes when advised when ordering that it would be approximately 30 to 40mins. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place just a shame there isn’t many other options to choose from.

Here’s my take on the two pizzas and pasta we had. 1) House special This pizza brought a medley of flavors to the table, with its perfectly baked crust serving as a canvas for fresh ingredients. The combination of olives, capsicum, mushrooms, and bacon created a savory harmony, complemented by the melted cheese that added richness to every bite. The inclusion of pineapple provided a tangy sweetness that balanced the overall flavor. 2) Meatlover This option stood out for its simplicity and bold flavors. The crispy bacon was generously portioned, and the feta cheese added a creamy, tangy kick that paired well with the diced tomatoes. The thin crust was slightly crispy on the edges but soft enough to absorb the flavors of the toppings, making it a satisfying choice. However, for both pizza, the base is a little too thick for our liking. 3) chicken and chorizo carbonara The pasta dish was a highlight, showcasing a luscious cream sauce infused with garlic and herbs. The perfectly cooked spaghetti was tossed with sautéed mushrooms, crispy bacon, and fresh greens, giving it a delightful textural contrast. The microgreens on top added a fresh, earthy finish to this indulgent dish. Bella Café offers a welcoming atmosphere with dishes that reflect their commitment to quality and flavor. The pizzas were hearty and satisfying, while the pasta demonstrated a refined approach to classic comfort food. Whether you’re a fan of robust, cheesy pizzas or creamy, flavorful pasta, this café is a must-visit spot on Kangaroo Island.

My barramundi pasta was delicious! The cafe was busy, so we were invited to leave our mobile number and received a text message when our meal was almost ready. What a great idea, because it allowed for a nice walk along the foreshore whilst we were waiting. Options included pizza and pasta including risotto and calamari, dine in or takeaway.

Flankly speaking, food on Kangaroo Island is not great. Everywhere esle we dined on Kangaroo Island kinda sucked. Having said that, Bella is one placed offered decent pizzas at reasonable price. It was not a great pizza by any mean but definitely satisfied my stomach. Another good thing about Bella is that they open late, meaning 8pm even in Kingscote. If you were sightseeing all day and came back to Kingscote late, this is one of very few places would be open.

This is a very run of the mill pizza cafe (kind of Dominos style), no thin crust Italian delicacy. I ordered the lasagne and asked for it to be served extra hot as I am pregnant and reheated food needs to be served very hot. The person taking the order said "It's hot, it goes through the oven twice." Well it wasn't, it was cold in the middle and the pasta was hard. They re-cooked it so it was hot, it took a long time and I lost my appetite when the woman brought it out and told me, it took so long because the oven was off and they had to cook it in the pizza oven. My husband tasted it and thought it was ordinary. My son's pizza was a margherita with way too much cheese on it, my husband had s vegetarian with salami and he said it was passable. Not sure why this place gets good reviews. KI certainly lacks decent restaurants but this one does not stand out as a good dining option.

Terrible service Terrible food I ordered a turkey sandwich. When it came out not what I had ordered I was told "yes it was" by the girl at the counter. Really? I know what I ordered and it wasn't what I got. Turkey sandwich usually has turkey - the sandwich I got had 1 piece literally the size of a playing card, 1 tomato slice and no cheese which I ordered. I had to pay extra for lettuce and they don't give any mayo unless you paid $1 - for a tablespoon of mayo. Seriously stay away. Rude people too . I didn't eat the sandwich gave it back to them they need to take cooking classes

Bella has a narrow open window, from 6p to 830p; make sure you don't blink else you will miss it. Fare are pizzas, quite good pizzas though. Salads are decent (tossed greens), and staff are friendly. Don't need more in this quiet town of Kingscote. It is certainly A-OK!

The food was very good... And the rest was better! Maybe the air could be better, they leave air con on as this necessary for the atmosphere not to be heavy... (slight point they could improve on) Appetizer was a very good halloumi on a quinoa pumpkin mint cilantro salad; the grilled whiting on same base was very satisfying as main and the men will enjoy the kangaroo, it was tasty and nicely cooked (ie not overcooked either) with a somewhat heavy wine sauce, but not bad at all! Special thanks to the service: the young lady was very very friendly and relating to us at every visit! They had a new trainee cook (good job!), so the timing was a bit slow, but they proactively gave us a 10% discount for that!

Staff friendly and helpful, food servings generous and very tasty. Ordered homemade lasagne and Canelloni both hot and fresh. Staff couldn't do enough. We are definitely going back.

I give this restaurant 1/5 stars for delicious pizza, 4 stars were lost for the most horrific service I have ever witnessed. There is simply no way to write this review without using profanity. Firstly, three of us walked into the restaurant without a booking to be greeted by this abrupt blonde waitress who told us to come back half an hour later so it would be easier for her - when their was clearly a table available with no reservation sign. We waited in our car because every other store in the area was closed at this time and there was nothing else to do. When we returned we were greeted with a rude head gesture towards where we were supposed to sit at. After we seated ourselves, she slammed the menus down and said "I have to put the orders in quickly or else the chef gets shitty". Wow. Terrible start. On a positive note, the pizzas came out very quickly and were delicious. However, this good experience was quickly tainted by the rudest waitress that I have ever been served by. When we had finished, we were talking amongst ourselves and she abruptly interrupted our conversation and TOLD US that we wanted the bill. We didn't even have time to reply before she walked off. She didn't even offer us the dessert menu, which I was interested in. By this point, all three of us were looking at each other in shock because we couldn't believe how badly mannered this woman was. So then we waited for our bill that we apparently wanted... 25 minutes had passed and we still had not received the bill. I then, with great difficulty, caught her eye and asked for it. After, again, having to wait around 10-15mins, watching her do everything but organise our bill, we finally got fed up and stood up to make it obvious that we wanted to leave. We paid. She got pissed off because she didn't have the right coins for the correct change and rolled her eyes as she walked off to the other room to get more money. Gave it to us then told us not fight over it. Rude. Bella should either get more waitresses or fire the bitch. Worst service ever.

I spent three nights in KI with my boyfriend and his family and ate here on our second night. We showed up on a Friday night without a reservation and were happily seated by the gentleman who seemed to run the place. There were a few tables occupied, one being a large group so we had to wait about 40 minutes for our mains but the food was tasty. We had a vegetarian pizza and king George whiting dish and both were good and had plenty of flavor. Pleasant and friendly service!
