||I am all for giving praise when it is due, when people make an effort to run a business whether high end or low end as long as some thought and effort has been put in. It saddens me when I have to write a review like this for a business that is located in such a wonderful area.||I read with interest a review by someone else who was also unfortunate enough to be given the “luxury” room opposite the main hotel building/ reception. This turned out to be our room also. ||After a long drive to Bella Coola we were looking for a good bed, nothing fancy and a good basic room. Clean, light, air, that sort of thing. we were rewarded with a room that felt like a converted garage, stuffy, bad light, horrible small beds and a small window for ventilation of both bedrooms. I drafted this review in the middle of the night (2am) not being able to sleep due to the stuffiness of the room and having been woken by my daughter who said she was finding it difficult to breath. We were unable to open a window safely(bears are about) and I imagine the same would be said in winter. There was a sealed window in our “bedroom” that could not be opened so very poor ventilation and a health risk in my opinion. We resorted to opening our door and wafting some fresh air in from the corridor for 20 minutes or so. If I were the owner I’d consider litigation against the architect who designed this additional wing as they plainly had no idea what they were doing.||To say I was completely underwhelmed by the accommodation is generous. After seeing the accommodation I asked whether there was an alternative and was greeted with a “no, and all the other hotels in the area are fully booked” .....a well rehearsed responsive threat, just what you need when you are tired and in the middle of nowhere. At that point my patience ran out so I walked away.||Some other notable features:||No headboards on the beds - lovely like being a student again, uncomfortable small lumpy mattress.||No enough bedside tables ||Metal window blinds were a particularly interesting feature, noisy and totally ineffective at keeping out light . ||The attempt at a Japanese garden as you entered the building was interesting ||In the winter given the very poor ventilation of this space and single glazed windows I am 100% confident this room will have a condensation problem - if anything bigger than a gerbil was sleeping in it.|||||||
