I visited Belles at around 3:30 pm on the 28th. I am a returning customer, but this was by far the worst dining experience I have had this year.
Upon entering, a male staff member seated me at a table directly next to the bathroom, despite the restaurant not being busy and many other tables being clearly available. At the time, I did not question the decision.
While ordering, I politely asked whether it would be possible to move to another table. Before I could finish my sentence, I was abruptly interrupted and told that, because I was dining alone, I was required to remain at that seat.
This explanation was difficult to understand, as the restaurant was largely empty, and several larger tables were not occupied by customers, but were instead being used by staff members for their own break at the time.
I cannot speak to the staff member’s intent. However, the tone, manner, and dismissive way in which I was spoken to felt unnecessarily hostile and deeply unwelcoming. Even other staff nearby appeared taken aback by the interaction. It left me uncomfortable both during and after the visit, and in hindsight, the treatment felt like I was being singled out.
As a loyal customer, this experience was extremely disappointing. I hope management takes this feedback seriously. No customer should feel dismissed or treated as lesser simply for dining alone.
