My husband and I visited to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately, the experience was not what we had hoped. Upon arrival, the hostess was a bit abrupt, which made for an awkward first impression. We were allowed onto the grounds 45 minutes prior to our reservation, which we appreciated. The misty weather didn’t dampen our spirits—we enjoyed sitting by the campfire and having snacks. The wooded grounds were beautiful and exactly the atmosphere we were looking for, even in the rain.
However, the accommodations themselves were disappointing. The rain was relentless all evening and into the next day, and by morning we were faced with a musty, damp-smelling area, an outhouse with a strong odor, and, most concerning, my husband suffered an asthma attack triggered by the environment. We had no choice but to pack up and leave early.
I did email the host to thank her for the evening but also explained that due to the musty odor and my husband’s asthma, we could not stay. I never received a response. At $175 per night, with accommodations that fell short and a complete lack of follow-up or concern, I expected at the very least an acknowledgment or inquiry about my husband’s wellbeing.
