Best Beaches in New Jersey: Beach Vacations for Couples, Singles, and Families

Belmar is a beautiful beach town, but the beach needs a little touch of maintenance. It is not the cleanest beach I have been to as I saw some debris on the sand, but I have been to worse in NY. It also gets quite congested after a certain time with younger adults. The bathrooms here are surprisingly kept pretty clean. Just an FYI to new visitors, you can get your $12 (adult cost) beach badge by paying through an app. Then, you present it to the agent at the booth to get your wristband. They don't accept credit cards/cash, just like Sea Girt. Children 13 and under can go on the beach for free. Now, parking can be challenging. I didn't have issues as I drove down early on the weekend, and I was still a number of blocks away from the beach with regular free street parking. There are also not a whole lot of food options unless you grab something near or on 8th Avenue. Most of the options for food are along Main Street. Even though this wasn't my favorite spot along the Jersey Shore, I would come here again. I would just do it on a weekday and try to avoid the weekend crowds.

I’m extremely disappointed. Came with my family to Belmar Beach, expecting a relaxing day — instead, we spent over two hours just trying to find parking. Everything was full, completely disorganized. Is this how a paid beach should operate? On top of that, they charge full admission even one hour before closing. How is that fair? You're paying as if you're staying all day, but barely have any time left. The whole experience was stressful and frustrating. Way too much time, money, and nerves spent — for nothing. It feels like all the administration cares about is taking your money, not making your visit enjoyable. I'm very disappointed. I'm definitely not planning to come back.

A very beautiful nice, peaceful and clean beach with a boardwalk. It’s located in a pretty neighborhood with beautiful houses. Good parking space available, and there some good drinking dens and restaurants around. One of the nicest beach on Jersey shore.

Beautiful beach. We went in the off season and got a hotel for a great price and just enjoyed the sunrise and walked the beach. 10/10

🚫 Parking at Belmar Beach is a complete disaster. The issue isn’t that it’s paid — people are willing to pay. The real problem is that there are simply no available spots. It’s pure chaos. On a summer day or weekend, thousands of people come here — and there’s nowhere to park. I spent two full hours driving in circles, just hoping someone would leave. This is an irresponsible failure by the city management. Belmar is a known beach destination — this isn’t a surprise. So why hasn’t anyone implemented an alternative parking system? Remote lots with shuttle service, live signage showing availability, or anything to help? People come to relax — instead, they get stress, frustration, and wasted time. If this doesn’t change, it seriously discourages future visits. ⚠️ Very disappointed. I truly hope someone in charge starts listening to regular people.

The beach is really nice and clean in my opinion. Not a lot of food options besides 7-11 and a pizza spot. The parking situation is a complete disaster. But I'm not really sure how they would accommodate so many people. They should also have more handicapped spots. I believe I only counted 4 through 5 blocks. I think $12 to get on the Beach is a little too much as well. You can pay through the app though.

Beach is clean and nice. Good for swimming. Nice Broadwalk. No food stalls, though. Saw only very few number of showers compared to Sandy hook nearby. It's tough to find a parking spot, but free to park once you find it.

Long boardwalk, if you like to stroll. Usually clean beach, except windy days. Price for adult $12, kids under 12 - free. Dogs are not allowed. Parking- a little more than 2$/hour. On weekends can be difficult to find parking lot.
