Belmar is a beautiful beach town, but the beach needs a little touch of maintenance. It is not the cleanest beach I have been to as I saw some debris on the sand, but I have been to worse in NY. It also gets quite congested after a certain time with younger adults. The bathrooms here are surprisingly kept pretty clean.
Just an FYI to new visitors, you can get your $12 (adult cost) beach badge by paying through an app. Then, you present it to the agent at the booth to get your wristband. They don't accept credit cards/cash, just like Sea Girt. Children 13 and under can go on the beach for free.
Now, parking can be challenging. I didn't have issues as I drove down early on the weekend, and I was still a number of blocks away from the beach with regular free street parking. There are also not a whole lot of food options unless you grab something near or on 8th Avenue. Most of the options for food are along Main Street.
Even though this wasn't my favorite spot along the Jersey Shore, I would come here again. I would just do it on a weekday and try to avoid the weekend crowds.
