Great location! Serenity and other staff members were welcoming and engaging! I guess we didn’t read the small print. No TVs anywhere on site. No refrigerator or microwave in rooms. Rooms are very tiny. Walls are so thin!! I got awakened often by someone snoring in the next room and by other patrons’ conversations. The balconies are not private. You can reach out and touch someone if you wanted to. Rooms are older and need updates. It was clean but baseboards and walls need a deep cleaning. Breakfast was fine and consisted of muffins and yogurt. The restaurant was nice but $35 for a pork chop and potato wedges was a little steep for us. For the price, we expected more, but again, we probably did not read the small print.

Wonderful Stay. Lobby was welcoming with a fire going. Girl at front desk was very kind and helpful. Our room was at the end with a private balcony. It was very clean and cozy with a cool rustic vibe. We were on the roadside but cars and Trains didn’t keep us up at all. I could see if other guests are noisy it could be bothersome but we didn’t have that problem at all. Great location to enter park from the west and direct path to make the drive to enter in the east. Beds were comfy. Bathroom clean with hot water and good pressure. Coffee and pastries in morning were good. No complaints. A great place to stay just outside the park.

We arrived by Amtrak and walked to hotel. Lovely decorations. Comfy bed and nice towels. Breakfast bakery is delicious!!! Walkable to different restaurants. So convenience to explore the majestic Glacier National Park!

Agreed with other reviews. Pros: location is awesome, easy drive to going-to-sun road. Friendly staff. Friendly welcome gifts and card on the bed on arrival. Good coffee and pastries. Restaurant exceeded our expectations and outdoor seating next to the garden was great. Cons: room is too tiny, sink was backing up water, the bathroom/shower is uncomfortably tiny. Small bed. There’s no AC, so it gets a bit warm in the rooms (they have a lot of fans on, but still difficult to sleep). People mention some haunted/paranormal activity, but we didn’t experience it. I wouldn’t look forward to staying again for the rooms at all. But the service and location are most memorable.

We had read the reviews of Belton Chalet before arriving and knew what to expect. We booked a superior room and were given a room on the ground floor next to the reception area facing the road. It had a large balcony which was nice but not private so you see other guests.||As other reviewers have said the rooms are small, dated and tired. It was probably last renovated 20 years ago. There is no air-conditioning so the rooms get very hot. The Chalet do supply earplugs and a white noise machine to muffle the noise of the trains that rattle past 24/7. As we were hiking each day we were tired so found these worked ok to help us sleep.||The bed was a small queen but comfortable enough. The bathroom was the size of a closet with a very compact shower and toilet. There was no space to move around either in or out of the shower. The tiny handbasin is located in the bedroom and there is nowhere to put any toiletries. ||Is the property overpriced at $380pn for what it offers, yes. Putting that aside, a few things let the property down. Housekeeping did a good job one day out of our 3 day stay. On the second day they took the tip we left but did nothing. Needless to say there was no tip on day 3. The breakfast consisted of defrosted iced buns. Not pastries as advertised. Coffee was only available in the morning and no coffee making facilities in the room. This was poor. Also one of the blinds in the room became unfolded and couldn't be opened. We couldn't figure out how to reposition the cords but housekeeping made no effort to fix it.||What saved the experience for us was the location (under 10 minutes from the park entrance) and the superb restaurant. The food was high quality, delicious and surprisingly good given the remote location. You can tell that the chef is trained in fine cuisine. The drinks also matched the food quality. Service was good or very good depending on who the server was. We ate in the restaurant all 3 nights.

We stayed at the Belton Chalet the first week of September. The first thing to know is this is not in any way a 5 star hotel. It isa best-a two star hotel. We have stayed in historic properties all over the world. This property could be so much more. The biggest advantage is the quick access to the West Glacier entrance. There is no other asset. The property needs maintenance. Boards are rotting. Drains are slow to drain. Pipes moan loudly. Floors creak. Internet is awful and needs updating. Sinks are stained. Curtains and blinds are dirty and stained. No breakfast service , just a handful of day old pastries and a thermos of coffee. We did dine in the restaurant for dinner. $33 for a plate of pasta. It was good but no sides were served except a piece of toasted bread. Servers did not know about wines and seemed flustered. They gave us the wrong check for $250 instead of our bill for $100. Nice and helpful folks at the front desk. We disliked the hotel so much we checked out a night early and they charged a $30 “ early checkout fee.” They either need to do a complete update of the hotel portion or close it and focus on the restaurant. Look at their response - exactly what they say to everyone.

This place is AWAYS AMAZING!! We come everytime we visit GNP. On this trip our server was Trinity. She was great!! Recommended the best drinks and food options. We all left with smiles on our faces. We always look forward to eating here when we visit. I would recommend making a reservation during busy summer hours!

Very nice rustic hotel just outside of Glacier NP. Rooms are comfortable but lack basic amenities. Very pricey place to stay but you don't get much. There is no continental breakfast only coffee and pastries. It was a nice experience but next time we'll opt for more amenities!

Fancy!!! See my food photos. Terrific service! Our server was from Florida and came with the season to serve the national park lovers. The Barclay's food truck chef told us to eat here as his friend is a chef here. Great tip! This is the place to have a fancy meal by Glacier.

Spectacular food and service! Took my son here for a fancy steak dinner date and we had a great time. They welcomed us nicely and there's no bad seats. Such a quaint, cute place. Portions were generous. Good was amazing. All good things to say! I encourage you to dress smartly for this restaurant. They didn't turn people away but those who didn't bother to shower or change after their hikes were a little out of place.

We wanted to treat ourselves after our 15 mile hike and this was perfect! We ate outside and it was beautiful as the sun set. I had the chicken skewers which were great and the sauce was amazing. My friend had the gnocchi and she paid extra for meat, however the meat was $9 so she expected chunks of meat but it was more like pieces. Which was disappointing. We did have a long wait for our drinks and then once we got our food we didn't see our server again. Overall it's a good, high quality restaurant and if you want to test your self it's a good choice.

-Honeymoon suite is bigger room than the rest I believe. -Claw foot Tub & Shower, great hot water -No tv or fridge, but we didn't need either. -Patio is not 100% private & is shared with anyone that walks down the hall and room #30's patio is right beside it. -July 2023 night weather didn't get super cold for sleeping, could use individual AC in rooms. They do have fans. -Amazing food at Dinner! Great price for quality of food. -Manager Tom is delightful to talk with. Reservations suggested & bar stays pretty full. Bartender Kevin is great as well! -Perfect day weather & it stays light out until almost 10PM -5 Mins from West Glacier park entrance and Beargrass cafe w/ small breakfast bites, smoothies, espresso -10 Mins from Stonefly lounge (Great Pizza & drinks w/ the locals) -Glacier Highland next door has great breakfast!

Great food, great service. We had to wait for our table after making a reservation several hours in advance, but the manager offered to buy our entire party drinks while we waited. Our server was bright and friendly, and all six of us were happy with our food. The prices were what you would expect for a 4 star establishment. We spent one night in a cottage, which was small but comfortable, and we had wifi. Ps. I don't know what some of these other reviewers were expecting when they booked a famously haunted hotel built in the early 1900's by a railroad company. Yes it's rustic, yes it's next to a train track, and yes that's part of the allure of the hotel.

This review is for Belton Chalet Restaurant. We are staying at Belton Chalet and decided to eat at the restaurant adjacent to the chalet. The vibe is beautiful both in the restaurant and the bar. We had a reservation (recommended) and were seated immediately. Mikolaj our server was friendly, helpful and attentive. I had the chicken skewers which were delicious. All in all, a great experience. So, now that I have checked out of the chalet, here is a review for that experience. I wanted to stay in one of the Great Northern Railway lodges. Based on the timing of my arrival at glacier National Park, most of them were closed for the season. Thankfully, This place was still open. Keeping that in mind, this is a historical lodge that was built a long time ago, I think it's important to keep the expectations in line with when the facility was built. The rooms are small, ours had a queen bed in a room that really was ideally suited for one twin bed. The floors creek, and there are some personality issues with the plumbing. That said, it was a great historical experience. The staff are extremely friendly. Overall, a four-star experience as I see it. I would stay here again.

We did not know what we were walking into here. I would start with recommending a reservation. We were able to be seated because we got there just a little bit ahead of the dinner rush. Where to begin? This is such a beautiful location. It is charming, and could be such a romantic date night location. We did not realize this was an upscale restaurant, we were casually dressed in hiking clothes. Some people were also casually dressed, but there were people coming in after us dressed up. The restaurant staff is extremely organized and there seems to be a casual seating area, a bar seating area, some outdoor seating and an indoor room that looks a little more classy for those people who are dressed up. So don't hesitate to visit here if you were just in hiking clothes and that is all you brought. The waiter was so attentive. He also answered all of our questions and made some great recommendations. The steak is a little bit pricey, but I would put it up against a steak that I would consider one of the best in Fort Worth Texas. Who rubs a steak with coffee?! They do and it is like nothing you will ever experience anywhere else. The meat was so tender, and had Smokey notes because of the coffee rub. For dessert, we all chose to get something different and share. The chocolate mousse was rich and thick and you just feel the need to close your eyes and savor the moment. There is such a beautiful view if you are seated outdoors. Plan to make this one of your meals out in West Glacier.

For $350 a night there are a lot of expectations. You might be surprised that none of them exist. I should have read the reviews before I booked this room so that's on me. Please do your homework. But I think this one picture says it all. Each room is issued ear plugs and a sound machine!! What does that tell you?? And the fact they don't disclose you may or may not have cell service is just wrong. The restaurant is noisy and brightly lit at night. I wasn't comfortable in there at all. And the best part? When we checked in, there was NO parking. The desk clerk suggested parking across the street on a busy highway!!!

The Belton Chalet is a nice building, and would be a rather nice place to stay except it is about 110feet off a main highway and is thus very NOISY and it ruins it. Its just a sad fact, the location ruins the whole experience. Have fun listening to trucks and cars making loud noises - exhaust braking etc. Its horrible.

My son gave me a birthday/mothers day gift to Montana. We stayed at 3 different hotels thru our 7 day trip to Montana. This was our 2nd. hotel because it was near Glacier White Water Rafting & west entrance to Glacier National. This place is Haunted. Did you hear me? #Haunted .......i will never return.

Restaurant review - 5 star restaurant reasonable prices. We started with the Caprese salad,hummus platter and bison meatballs. All were excellent, but the wingless platter was like nothing we had ever tasted an unbelievably delicious (spread the top of the cracker with hummus, sprinkle some dukkah, and then drizzle with balsamic and olive oil - to die for!! and very ample portions) Every dinner entree was fabulous, but everyone agreed that the filet is second to none - in line with the best steakhouses in the country. And finally,The blondie dessert had everyone full to the brim. We were celebrating a 70th birthday well on vacation, and this was such an unexpected treasure and highlight of the trip.

There is a total disconnect here between the Yelp (4-star), Google (5-star) rating, the cost, and my personal experience at Belton Chalet. The more dramatic disconnect is between the pricing and the experience. I'll explain. When I think of a 4-5 star $1,000 hotel stay, I think of such things as reliable internet service, mobile phone connectivity, window coverings for privacy, on-site dining, housekeeping service, a bellman to assist guests with bags up the stairs, a full -service restaurant that serves 3 meals a day, a bar, a closet in the room to store luggage and clothing, TV, a balcony with a spacious room and a bathroom large enough for a sink (the bathroom was too small for a sink so the sink took up valuable space in the room, along with the tub). Our welcome amenity did include two packets of foam earplugs on our pillows to block the noise of the Amtrak trains running periodically throughout the day and night right out front. The rest of this review is intended to provide the disclosures that should have been made by the hotel in advance of our stay. Upon our check-in at 10p, we were advised our room was at the top of the stairs. We were informed there is no housekeeping service, but we can request fresh towels every day. We were also informed the on-site restaurant does not serve breakfast but we can drive or walk to a nearby restaurant that does. There is ZERO mobile phone connectivity and no internet service (for the first 24 hours) so beware that you may be completely off the grid completely or for long stretches (in our case, 30 hours) before internet is restored. We are caregivers for our parents and must remain accessible 24/7 in case of emergency, so being off the grid is not an option for us. Staff conceded they are well aware of the communication challenges and have been working on improving them for a long time. This should have been disclosed in advance, given that b there is zero mobile phone signal in or nearby the hotel. On arriving to our "Honeymoon Suite" we discovered a threadbare room not large enough for a bathroom - like a small room one might find in the 1800's. Indeed, that's the theme here. The Belton Chalet maintains the same historic look and feel as a late-1800's whistle stop on a logging railroad route - located directly across the street from the historic train station. They nailed it, too, right down to the earplugs and lack of communication. Remaining true to its "historical" theme, the floorboards are original--which is good, because when you walk in them, it makes the passing Amtrak train harder to hear--but no worries, since all you have is opaque ill-fitting sheet of fabric as a window covering, the passengers will enjoy peering into your suite as the train click-clacks its way up and down the tracks. The earplugs on the pillows is a classic touch. The walls and doors are so thin, we hear our neighbors snoring and every door that opens and everyone who walks by our "suite". A tiny prefab fiberglass shower is crammed into a closet-sized WC with the toilet--not enough space for a sink or tub--so those are actually next to our bed! Yup, just like in the old west! No space for toiletries. The clothes stay in our suitcases, which take up the rest of the walking space around the strangely (diagonally) placed bed, consuming even more of the precious space. Our room has no balcony or view, but if we step out into the hallway, we have access to a public balcony with the view completely obscured by the trees. Not the honeymoon sweet we envisioned. Other rooms have nice views and balconies. Breakfast is sounding pretty good about now. I think I'll walk over to the restaurant down the road for some grub.

Loved the historic feel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved the cookies at checkin and the pastries and coffee. It was a little noisy at night as the trains run every couple hours and we needed to leave window open as it was during a heat spell so the ear plugs were used. Will definitely stay again

The Belton looks like a tourist trap to avoid at all costs, and I've done so for years. This summer, we were headed out of the park and really wanted grab dinner - we're glad we stopped! The wait staff were great. The service was great. The food was Great! We'll be dining at Belton Chalet next time we're in the park.

I had a wonderful dinner experience at the Belton Chalet a couple weeks back. I was dining solo but made a reservation a week prior just in case. I requested the bar. I showed up a little before my reservation and was able to secure a bar seat. I was lucky to have some awesome neighbors at the bar who offered great conversation along with the amazing bartender, Laura. I started off with the BlatHead salad. I really enjoyed it. For my entrée I ordered the Montana Meatballs. Holy cow were they good! I enjoyed them so much and would highly recommend them to everyone! The meatballs were served over mashed potatoes and came with pickles and a huckleberry jam. I know, sounds like a crazy mix. It worked! For dessert I had the huckleberry beignets. I attempted to share them with my neighbors because the portion was huge! I had no takers and ended up eating the whole plate myself. They were delicious! I had a couple draft beers as well which I enjoyed. The whole experience was great and I would definitely return when visiting Montana in the future. Laura was an excellent bartender who was friendly, sociable and extremely knowledgeable about the entire menu.

So glad I made a reservation here! Such a gem; delicious!! Everything was cooked to perfection. The bison meatloaf - fantastic! Flathead fish- never had fish so good, the butternut squash purée is to die for. Will be back whenever we are in glacier!!

After many years of Whitefish, Big Fork and Columbia Falls restaurants, all good btw, we decided to try Belton Chalet and we were not disappointed. Local Farm to Mkt pork and Flathead Lake Trout were astounding. Had the trout dip to start and split the chalet salad. All excellent and fresh. Service was great, friendly and attentive. Definitely a must add to your Montana list of restaurants. Also had an excellent specialty Old Fashion.

To start, the quality of my steak was unbelievable. I loved and enjoyed every bite of my meal. We made reservations a couple weeks before our stay at the Belton Chalet. When we arrived, it wasn't extremely busy, but there are times when I'm sure there is a wait for a table. First, I enjoyed the huckleberry mule. Absolutely loved it, the perfect blend of sweet and sharp. We also ordered the tomato and burrata, which was phenomenal. Lastly, I ordered the steak medium rare and my husband ordered the chicken skewers. We watched loved our meal so much and ate every bite. The steak was so tender, it seemed like the meat was massaged before cooking. The sauces on the plate enhanced the flavor so much. I can't wait to return to this location. We also made a reservation for my parents because we wanted them to have a nice meal as well. They loved every bit of the meal. I also have to mention our server was AMAZING!! She was so sweet and attentive, made great recommendations, and seemed to love working there. I highly recommend Belton Chalet restaurant if you're ever in the area!!

Fantastic ambiance, just outside Glacier National Park. We had the blistered shishito peppers and the pappardelle with a meatball. The waitress was friendly, but apparently her favorite word to describe food is "yum", which she used liberally. Food was nice, not great, overpriced for what you received. You will need a reservation and parking is limited.

Checked all the boxes for me! The location is a historic site and has a rich history which is interesting in itself. The atmosphere is the perfect blend of old and new in a comfortable, non-pretentious atmosphere. Patrick, our server, was fabulous. How many times have you ordered a smoked trout dip and ran out of pita chips? Then had to ask for more and even pay an upcharge? Patrick kept watch on our chip quantity to dip ratio and proactivy brought us more before we ran out. Loved him already. The dip was amazing, the chicken delicious, and the huckleberry cheesecake beignets - OMG. One more note- their old fashioned cocktail which combines rye whiskey with the unexpected ingredients of maple syrup and chocolate bitters was intoxicating. I'm so glad this restaurant is not close to home, otherwise I'd gain 50 lbs from indulging too often.

We love the Chalet for dinner- try to stop at least once per year. Amazing service and delicious food. This visit I had the filet and the shisito peppers for a starter. They were excellent! The cocktails are also very well executed. I wish I could think of the name of the one I get with the cherries. So fabulous.

One of the poorest experiences at any of the lodges. We've eaten at McDonald Lodge, Many Glaciers and East Glacier. We planned for a dinner to celebrate our anniversary with our visiting daughter and made note on our Open Table reservation. We requested a window seat or asked them for best view possible. We were seated in the middle row of the restaurant and bumped constantly by servers and guests. When asked they had no idea of Open Table or any requests. The restaurant is LOUD. Conversations were forced to go even louder just to be heard. There seems to be too many tables fit into the original space. The views are nice and you can appreciate the age of the building and structure. It ends there. Parking is across a busy highway in a gravel field. No crosswalk. There is very limited parking on the same side of the road. Service was fine but due to either training or a poor POS, our appetizer came before our drinks and our entrees came out shortly after. They offered to keep them under a heat lamp for us which is ridiculous. The drinks were great and the bartender was very friendly. We enjoyed one of their specialty drinks, the Bourbon Cherry Smash. It deserved a trip to the bar to get the recipe. He shared the recipe (made with a locally produced whiskey) and took the time to show me how he makes it. My Old Fashioned was made very well, again results of a good bartender. The appetizer was their Apple Salad. The apples were cut julienne style. We ordered one for the table. The apples were fresh, tart and would have been a fresh option if not rushed to our entrees. Entrees we're a mixed review. My steak was over cooked (suspicious since it came out so fast). The flavor was under seasoned but tender. I would order it again but keep an eye on the cooking. Next was the Pork Shank. This was a good size/portion and very tender. The gravy was rich, flavorful and well seasoned. This was the hit of the table. The last entree was the Bison Meatloaf. The best thing on the plate was the broccoli... the size of the portion was small, old and obviously heated up. It lacked flavor or any unique taste. Dessert was the Huckleberry Cobbler. It was left on the table. It tasted like heated up jam with granola poured on top. Sorry for such a poor review but the food, service and overall experience did not live up to its reputation. I hope this is a training or operations issue that can be improved for future guests. I'm happy we visited the restaurant but unfortunately challenged to fully recommend it to others.

We were looking for a hotel right outside the park. This hotel is right by the west gate of the park and provided easy access. It is an old hotel with lots of charm and was a great place to stay. Our room had a balcony so we were able to sit outside and enjoy the view until it got dark (after 9:30 pm). The WiFi was was not very good and provided limited ability to do much more than email and some very slow web browsing. The hotel restaurant was very good and had a great menu. I had the bison meatloaf it was very tasty. Our biggest issue was the constant running of trains right across the street from the hotel. If you stay at the hotel, make sure you get reservations for the Going to the Sun road on the recreation.gov website, in addition to a regular park pass.

The Belton Chalet is a historic rail-side lodge that opened to the public in 1910. The dining and tap room came highly recommended and are open to non-hotel guests, so we made reservations for an early dinner. The indoor space was relatively casual with dark wood and sterile overhead lights, but there is also a patio overlooking the train tracks with distant mountains forming a majestic backdrop. It was near sunset and, though the blinds were drawn, the whole room was filled with a soft golden light. We kicked things off with cocktails, and they were all amazing. My wife had a dirty martini that was clean and refreshing. The Northern Lights, a fascinating concoction pairing absinthe, rosé, firneedle simple syrup, and cucumber, was well-balanced and unique. The Huckleberry Habanero Margarita was a playful sequence of sweet then tart then spicy. Finally, the Hearth Stone Old Fashioned with maple simple syrup and chocolate bitters was truly exceptional, earthy and sweet-but-not-too-sweet. For starters, we chose the Thai Salad and Cheese Board. The salad was a decent palate primer, with flavorful peppers, fried shallots, julienned veggies, and a light punchy dressing. The board was fantastic and, on this particular occasion, with a toned-down blue cheese, smoked gouda, a house-made ricotta that was sweet and flavorful but on the liquidy side, a mild giardiniera, honeycomb, and huckleberry jam. Moving on to main courses, we opted for fish and pasta items. The Flathead Lake trout was well seasoned and juicy, but the skin wasn't as crispy as I would've hoped. The accompanying butternut squash pureé was alright; the buttered broccolini was better. The roe was entirely superfluous, and at $32, I found this dish unjustifiably expensive. The Fusilli with roasted garlic cream sauce, ricotta, lemon, and leafy greens was rich and delicious. The sauce clung lovingly to the twisty pasta and all the flavors worked magically together. We also added the elk sausage (+$8), which was good but nothing special. We topped the meal off with the Huckleberry Cheesecake Beignets, three decadent fried pillows that, despite not having too much cheesecake essence that we could detect, were great. In terms of taste, I would pin huckleberry as a cross between a blueberry and a raspberry. While not perfect, our dinner at the Belton Chalet was one of the best meals of our week-long trip to Montana: incredible cocktails, solid service, and excellent food, though perhaps a tad overpriced.

There should be a separate page for the hotel than the restaurant. Since there isn't, I'm combining my review. Hotel: 1 star Restaurant: 5 stars Hotel Review Have you watched The Shining? This place feels like it's out of that movie. The rooms are small but if they put some time into redecorating, it wouldn't be as bad. It feels like the rooms haven't been updated since 1940 and have a dorm vibe. The bathroom is small, the mattress and pillows are stiff, small, and uncomfortable, and there are no amenities in the room. The balcony would be great if it wasn't facing a railroad that has active trains most of the evening. There also isn't AC, so it gets quite stuffy and warm. Customer service is non-existent and the staff does the least possible: no talk at check in about the area or what to expect in the hotel. Additionally, there's supposed to be coffee at 7 am but the front desk was not on top of things and started getting things ready at 7 am. When we called to make dinner reservations at the hotel, they said it was full and made no effort to help us out. What kind of place doesn't hold spots for their guests? Anyway, we went by the restaurant anyway and they had spots. The only pluses were that it's close to the park entrance and the WiFi worked better than expected. Restaurant Review After being on a road trip for 7 days and eating more fried, all-American food than my stomach would like me to admit, I was hankering for something fresh and healthy. This place did not disappoint! Healthy servings, fresh ingredients, and incredibly flavorful food. I got the market salad and the fish--both plates were cleaned up quickly. I also tried the burrata heirloom salad. So yummy! The service was great and they were following covid precautions. Definitely not cheap but decently priced for what you're getting. They are worth the stop!

So charming and warm. The menu is great even for a vegetarian. We went there twice. The first time I had a cheese board. Great selection and quality. My husband had forragio -cauliflower rice with great flavors. The drinks were amazing!! Last night I had the fussili-nit really special-but ok. My husband had trout snd said it's the best ever!! Again great drinks.

My wife and I visit Montana from Los Angeles regularly, and the Belton Chalet is always on our to do list. It's the real deal! Amazing food, awesome decor, and a lovely staff. Every time we visit we can't wait to come back. It's one of the best restaurants we've ever been to, anywhere! If we lived there we'd be regulars!

If you like good food, this is your place to go. Great starters and the entrees are so good! Jasmine was our server and she was amazing! Husband loved his rib eye and I really enjoyed my salad!!

The restaurant at Belton Chalet is pretty good. The food is well prepared and tastes good, but considering the price, it isn't outstanding. Cheese board appetizer was good. The filet was the highlight of the meal- they cooked it perfectly and the outer crust was delicious. The trout was also solid. Fettuccine with Italian elk sausage was nothing special. Would recommend this place, but keep in mind, it is quite pricey.

Had a wonderful dinner after a long day of hiking and I will say, I was most surprised with the quality of our food. We could have been at a five star restaurant! The tomato and borrata starter and the charcuterie were awesome, especially the most unique charcuterie we have had. An adventure with beautiful with little surprises. The bison meatloaf and trout, with crispy skins, were wonderful and much appreciated after a day of hiking. Atmosphere was upscale but shorts were welcome. Our server was very friendly but we lost her a few times. Wonderful evening!

Unexpected charm and fine dining! Coming from Los Angeles to Montana for the first time can be a culture shock. However, the Belton Chalet Hotel and Resturant is an incredible value for the price! We are celebrating an anniversary and birthday this Chalet is like walking back in time to when taste, style and class were effortless. Our check-in experience was perfect, the front desk clerk was funny, and helpful. We had no expectations for dinner, after driving 6 hours to arrive, we were happy we only had to walk to the restaurant. We were blown away!! The executive chef brought innovative tastes to classic recipes. I was instantly transported to childhood having the bread and cream corned sauce. It reminded me of dinners at my Great Grandma's house. My husband ordered the house-made fettuccine with lamb sauce and was in heaven. I had never tried bison before but opted for the bison meatloaf with the broccolini. It was out-of-this-world. Our waitress Sabrie was wonderful and attentive. We loved our experience and will recommend staying here to anyone! Also the entrance to Glacier National Park is literally across the street! We had a balcony room overlooking the park. Breathtaking sunset. Unforgettable!

Stayed here for a night while transiting around GNP, and ate at the restaurant twice. Good selections on the menu, but some will probably find the price point a little high. The food is tasty, and the environment and service are friendly. Definitely recommend the meatloaf.

We stayed Clarke cabin in the fall with two babies and four adults. I'm writing this post solely for the pics of the Cabin since I couldn't find anything when I was trying to get an idea of space. I hope these pictures help someone else decide to stay here! Simple cabin, no tv, 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. There is noise from the road/train station but it didn't bother us since we're used to sleeping with white noise with the babies.

This place doesn't care about customers or service. We were running late for our reservation on Monday night because my boyfriend and I were getting ENGAGED. He wrote this in the description of the reservation. When we walked in everyone avoided eye contact then had the manager (?) tell us because we were after the 'ten minute cut off time" . We told him we.....just had the biggest moment of our lives and got engaged which was the reason we were 4 minutes past the 'cut off time'. We wanted to celebrate and ultimately spend a lot of money here. Except I left in tears. The manager said the cooks had been there since noon, and that was the reason they couldn't honor our reservation

We had high hopes for a birthday dinner but found the place hit-or-miss. The appetizers are weak (ie we found it hard to select any as none appealed). We had the shishitos, which are fire-roasted peppers. One or two might be nice to taste, but a bowl of 30 with some buttery sauce was a particularly unbalanced offering. The pork shank was very average and on the small side. The beef was quite good but a bit too lean and too soft. A huge square lump of rare filet you can cut with a spoon is interesting but not as tasty as a well-cooked ribeye. We tried the chocolate cake dessert but it was just weird. $170 later, we left a bit disappointed. Oh, service was pretty good especially considering how busy the place was (full 7-9 pm on a Tuesday).

We went here to celebrate our engagement with my family while in Glacier NP! Made reservations but came in early to sit at the bar. The bar selection is pretty slim - most wines weren't available and the liquor is limited. We also order an Old Fashioned which tasted nothing like an OF, just straight shot of whiskey - kind of a bummer but didn't put a huge damper on the day. It's a smaller location so the seating is limited - definitely get a reservation if you plan on going. The service was great - our server was able to give us recommendations on what to order, what was good, what to maybe avoid, etc. I got the lamb shank which was ah-mazing! Definitely go with that is you like lamb. The pasta I heard was very spicy to eater beware. Everything else was delicious from what I could tell. Overall, the Belton helped make our special day a great one!

Food was great. The server was wonderful. However, the bartender was terribly rude and unprofessional. He ruined the evening. When we tried to call later and express our frustration the phone was not answered. Very disappointing!

Considering there aren't a whole a lot of lodging options in Glacier Park, this is a great place to stay. It is right outside the park and has a historic charm. The regular rooms are tiny and offer some basic necessities but it is not the Hilton. If you can, get a room facing the street - the parking gets noisy early in the morning especially since the tour bus stops there. The restaurant was pretty good, the menu was quite limited but then again you are in the middle of nowhere. The portions were quite small, felt like I was back in LA and not in Montana. The bison meatloaf was about 4oz otherwise tasted delicious. The rainbow trout plate didn't include any starch and was lacking seasoning otherwise cooked well. We ended up ordering their bread appetizer after the dinner as we were still hungry. The steak tartar was delicious - it was served with seaweed instead of crusty bread which made for an interesting taste.

We had dinner at this restaurant but did not stay at the hotel. Our party of five were all disappointed with the meal relative to the price. The food wasn't bad but the most I can say is that it was mediocre at best. I ordered the tortellini with elk meat. The dish was 90% pasta and maybe 10% meat for $35. Others in my group ordered the chicken skewers ( also $35/plate,) and the chicken was so fatty that only 50% was edible. After the dinner and three cocktails ( all together--NOT three cocktails per person,) we dropped $275 and left feeling very disappointed. We will not be back; we feel very overcharged for the quality of food given. We've had a much better meal at just a common steakhouse for much less money.

Had a wonderful dinner. I had the special- black cod over couscous with a vegetable medley. The dish was impeccably seasoned and so delicate. I am sorry I forgot a pic but I was so excited to eat... it was that good! Our server was a wonderful woman who accommodated my friend's - no dairy by consulting with the chef. I also was permitted to bring in a vegan birthday cake and they served it and sang. Wonderful experience.

for the area, i give this 5 star. Thanks Alex for helping us as we planned the visit and then when we were there. The food at the lodge was great. Rooms comfortable..the bathrooms were once closets. charming. coffee.tea in mornings (add almond milk please ) loved the suggestions to PoleBridge, Sunshine cafe for Bfast, Josephines for dinner. Get room high and away from railroad track. Linens on bed very nice. Well kept. Game room downstairs. Step back in history but it is also comfortable and sweet. Oh and the flathead cherries from the owners orchard were fabulous. appreciated the generosity.

We enjoyed Irish death stouts and Spaten Lagers with Delmonico steak, filet mignon, snapper, tenderloin in mushroom sauce along with a Pinot noir Elouan wine. All food was delicious with excellent service. Very comfortable time!

We started our meal with the trout dip and we were amazed at the flavor and the light taste of trout . We then ordered Bison Meatloaf and Trout Entree was amazingly prepared and presentation was even beautifully done. This is the end of their season in October but definitely a place to est when you are in West Glacier .

Stopped here around 8:30 on a weekend evening for dinner after a hike through the GNP, which is next door. We were seated right away and our server was very attentive. They have a selection of fun cocktails and a great wine list. We started off with the kale Caesar and each had an entree--salmon and beef tenderloin. All of the food is excellent. Finished off with the almond cake, which we now think about frequently. This was a lovely date night after a stressful day and I'm so grateful we found this place. Would definitely return.

We had a fantastic experience eating here earlier this evening. We sat in the tap room in the back. Matthew, our bartender/server, was superb. He was genuinely friendly and engaging, attentive, and knowledgeable of the area -- overall just an awesome guy. The food and drink were tasty. The cocktails were imaginative. We liked the use of ingredients from local distilleries. The food was equally good. Standouts from what we ordered were the burger & salad, shishito peppers, and mac & cheese. Other observations -- great ambiance in a historic building and overall great service. This place is a great example where investment in quality, seemingly happy employees and a thoughtful menu really pays off.

What a distasteful dining experience. Both from a food/taste perspective, and more importantly from a owner/management attitude perspective!!! My wife & I were looking forward to dining out at what is reputably the best restaurant in the area. Well, obviously the owner thinks so too, and customer accommodation and service does not enter into the thinking here. First off, there is no air conditioning, and though the restaurant was nearly empty, we were directed to sit at a small table for two alongside the rear wall. I requested a larger table in a more central location to receive the benefit of the fan they had blowing. I was reseated in the main part of the dining room, and everything was fine. However, what we then became subject to was nothing short of a short order cook yelling out her orders, and a waitress servicing the restaurant's silverware/glassware station in our ears!!! And this is in the central part of the dining room, so anyone else would be subject to this as well. When I commented about it to the staff, they were put out, as I was asking them to do something that was counter to the culture they had long accepted as acceptable and normal. Well, I'm sorry, I did not expect this sort of experience, and spending $34 for my Delmonico steak (average) to endure this was not soothing to the enjoyment of the evening. My wife also then had little appetite, and our prime interest at that point was to exit the restaurant. A salad and flatbread for her, coupled with three glasses of wine totaled $78. One of the, if not, worst dining experiences I've suffered during the last several years.

Review us for eating at the bar. Drink selections = 5 stars Food = 3.5 stars Service = 3 stars Value = 2.5 stars Service & place is s bit pretentious. We ate at the bar & food was decent but service was just ok. They were very friendly to the locals, but we had one sentence exchanges which did not add to the experience.
