"Ben Nevis The highest peak in the United Kingdom, Ben Nevis looms over the Highland resort town of Fort William and Loch Linnhe below, attracting an estimated 125,000 completed ascents per year. Most hikers take the well-constructed Mountain Track from Glen Nevis on the south side of the mountain and head for the 2,000-foot-high cliffs on the north face. At the summit, you’ll also find the ruins of an observatory, which was permanently staffed from 1883 until its closure in 1904. While the mountain can be quite easily scaled by even moderately experienced hikers, don’t take the task lightly—do so at your own peril and wear layers, as the weather at the summit can be seasons away from that at the base."

I went to Ben nevis on a Sunday 25th Aug, when it was raining, windy and foggy as well... At the top I couldn't see anything, surroundings, but I'll do it again other times in better weather most definitely! The road to the top was very hard and the weather made it even harder, and again, strong, very strong winds ...there are many waterfalls to pass through so make sure you have hiking equipment and waterproof and windproof shoes, socks, trousers and a jacket... hiking sticks will help you more when you come down and you're tired, and will protect your ankles, no matter the age. I made the whole trip to the top and back in 6 hours and 48 minutes exactly, so it's no joke, challenging, especially when the whole day was raining. Take just some protein bars and a bit of water, no heavy food to be eaten before.

This is a place of natural beauty. A site to see and visit. The visitors centre was a big disappointment as there was only 1 toilet open and this had a broken seat, the heater on and did smell a bit! This had been like this for some time. The fountain was not working and again this had been off for some time (according to a local who runs there regularly). There were alot of visitors from outside the UK who were impressed with the views etc but not the facilities. Not sure why this was like this but first impressions count. Still has to be visited if you are in the area.

Stopped for picnic lunch and afternoon tea = 10.5 hours. For me - Started with a cup of tea at the visitor centre and set off at noon , back at the closed visitor centre at 22-30 pm. Great weather , perfect experience

Absolutely amazing!!!! It was a long walk but it was worth it. There was free parking so it was nice for family holidays. It take over 4-5 hours to climb and come down. Try to visit in summer. It was a little busy as a lot of people come from different parts of UK. You can easily bring kids as they will enjoy the beautiful view of nature. I highly recommend this.

Didn't get chance to go in the shop prior to setting off walking, used the facilities which were clean before we set off. Shop closed minutes before we got there so didn't get chance to go in then either. Walk was good, hard work in places, we were pretty lucky with the weather, snow at the top but you get warm walking up so don't really need too many layers. Lots of good rocks to pick and eat lunch on, and take your litter back down. Good do overall

Worst man hand made or modified hiking route I ever was. Parking was £16 for 24 hours. View is worth to hike for emergency shelter at the top if you stack on the summit. Way to many people and most of the people on the mountain don't have a clue about hiking or respect.
