Ben Thanh Asian Market

Ben Thanh is the name of the historic, cultural landmark in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly called Saigon) in Vietnam so when I saw the name I had to check it out. They do have an array of Vietnam imported products, all frozen, fish and sea food, ready-to-eat specialties, vegetables, fruits. I had never seen so many different kinds of fish. I was so overwhelmed, I didn’t know what to get. What I did get: frozen 100% sugar cane juice, passion fruit pulps; fresh taro, bitter squash, herbs, and chrysanthemum shoots; fresh whole Basa. The man was so helpful and kind; he cleaned, cut it into perfect size for “canh chua cá kho tộ”. I can’t wait to go there again for other products. Note the store looks small and not as inviting but it offers much more than first sight. Check it out!

They sell our favorite ramen/pho noodles here at the best price I've seen in town! Great produce, and amazing mushrooms as well. I haven't seen oyster, trumpet etc. mushrooms of this quality at any traditional grocery market in the US. Same goes for boo choy. Highly recommended.

Very tight place!!! kinda hard to have a shopping cart because the isle is 2 feet wide apart However; the produce looks good and found shrimp paste easy unlike other store it's too hard to find them because the shelves are too busy with thousand other stuff..not organize...When a store says, seafood store ,it should have more than 3 different fishes ,no crabs,no other shell fish found unless tbey hide from me😂😃😆😂🤣

No way! I stopped by this place a couple of weeks back, and decided to pick up some soy beans. The 5 Lb bag had no expiration or manufacture date of any kind, I thought it can't be too bad, they are just beans.... Wrong! Now matter how long I cook them, they are not possible to chew. Those beans must be so old and dried out that it's impossible for cooking to eat. I don't wanna drive all the way there just to ask my money back, it's my mileage, my time and effort, I ended up just toss the whole bag of beans. Those beans were from China by the way. P.S.: I did check out their vegetables, they are not as fresh as some of the reviews say.... I didn't buy, -- I didn't think they are as fresh as I wanted.

Fantastic Asian market that provides mostly Vietnamese groceries but also has other things to offer such as ice cream treats. They have plenty of fresh ingredients including taro root and durian! If you wanted to cook your own Asian meal or own a Vietnamese restaurant, then this place is for you!

Interesting place. Caters to immigrants, but that means more selection and better prices on a lot of goods. Everyone has always been nice when I went in. Great place if you want some new kinds of seafood.

I had a great experience at Ben Thanh Asian Market! I came looking for ingredients for homemade pho. The staff was very friendly and helpful; they gave great suggestions and helped me find everything I was looking for.

Very clean and neat! Produce is of good quality. Good selection of non perishable items plus oriental dishes and other essentials.

Great market! Lots of unique items to choose from. The people who work there are helpful snd nice.

Classic version of the Asian market, viet influenced. Found a lot of pandan flavored things. They have cakes 'imported' from California and an extensive freezer section full of animal parts for your carnivorous needs. Blood sausage? Sure. Tripe? Of course! If you aren't into these things or it makes you queasy you should not visit this place. But they also have fun snacks as well as the spicy ramen you'll need for a challenge and plenty of spices and grains/noodles to get your asian cuisine chef on.

Nice little store with very reasonable prices. The selection isn't the greatest though. We just had a couple things to purchase and decided not to wait in the long line of only 1 register. 3 stars as the selection wasn't great and the register guy seemed very slow.

Cute little store, very busy and only 1 check out was pretty disappointed when I realized there was a very long line with people who had full carts and we weren't waiting for 20 min for only 2 things I found I wanted.. We may return when we have more time as we are from out of state..
