"Home to photography, design and architecture exhibitions, Benaki Museum—located at 138 Pireos Street—is in a building that’s as visit-worthy as the museum itself. Set around a large courtyard, it has soaring ceilings, an airy atrium, and a glass and brick front."

Had a lovely lunch and then afternoon walking around the benaki museum. The collection is absolutely stunning. One word of caution though for those with disabilities, the last floor especially is not accessible with half flights of stairs through out. The first three levels though are generally very accessible

Very nice museum about greek culture. Quite many object from each time/aspect of greek culture. We enjoyed the museum. They have seasonal exhibitions which we did not see. Thursdays is entrance free. We would recommend the museum. Plan around 1,5 hours for visit if you are planning to read :)

Really beautiful and well-curated museum that’s much bigger than the outside suggests. Very affordable at 12 Euro fee (except for special exhibit, which is extra). Could easily spend many hours here. Loved the mix of culture, history, and art; the rooftop cafe is also so beautiful and has good drink and food options.

One of the most iconic and educational cultural institutions of Greece. The main branch of this museum network is in Koumbari street, and over the years has hosted a multitude of shows from costume, high fashion, to antiquities, to jewelry, and everything in between. A year does not pass where I do not visit a minimum of twice, and their museum shop hosts some of the best Greek designers, so always a great gift idea just around the corner for friends, family, and of course "moi". Whether this is your first time in Greece, or you are a repeat traveller, or a local, this should be on your visiting list - it has not been placed by accident by several culture sites in the top 25 museums in the world.

Larger than it looks from the outside. Interesting progression through time, starting ilon the ground floor from ancient times and working your way up through the Byzantine era and to the culture from various locations in the last century. Great rooftop cafe to finish your visit.

Whilst the collection covers all periods of Greek history, I think the top floor is the most important, showing how Independence from Ottoman rule was made possible and the people involved. Having read the history it was a revelation to see portraits and objects from that era. An insight into the formation of Greece into a modern nation and one of the most memorable experiences in Athens.

Phenomenal museum covering many thousands of years of history, art, and culture. The collections are well curated and arranged very well. A free audio tour is available in several languages on your phone, so bring headphones. We stayed about 2.5 hours because they were closing, but could have easily stayed 4 or more. There is also a restaurant. Discounts available for students and various other groups.

Really cool museum. Loved all the unique clothing, jewelry and furniture. The wood carved rooms were stunning. The museum was quiet and a pleasure to wander around.
