9 Best Brunch Spots in Berlin | Condé Nast Traveler

"Located in the historically more prosperous West Berlin, Benedict is the opposite of the eclectic—some might say "gritty"—East Berlin breakfast outposts. Chic and sophisticated, this 24-hour institution is all about style—both on and off the plate. Benedict claims to have the best breakfast in Berlin, and that might actually be true. If you're feeling something savory, the namesake eggs Benedict is an obvious excellent choice, and the shakshuka, currently trending around the city, is also fantastic. If you're craving sweet, the white chocolate pancakes with espresso syrup are divine." - Krystin Arneson

Best place in Berlin! The pancakes were on another level. I had the strawberry pancakes with white chocolate, and it was a true culinary festival. My chicken & waffle was absolutely magical, a perfect harmony of sweetness and savory flavors. The atmosphere was fantastic, with stylish décor that blends vintage charm and modern café vibes. It feels both cozy and vibrant, perfect for a relaxed meal. The staff were professional and very polite. Highly recommended!

My friends and I had a fantastic time at this restaurant. The ambiance was welcoming, and the vibrant decor added to the overall charm. We started with delicious pancakes and of course some coffee, followed by refreshing happy hour drinks. It’s the perfect spot for catching up with friends. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. ❣️

Google
Great place to eat breakfast all day long and read books 📚🤓 I ordered the eggs Benedict with bacon and it was scrumptious. I also had a fresh squeezed orange juice and an Americano. I am kinda a coffee snob and I can honestly say the coffee was great! The servers speak German and English and there is plenty of seating for a coffee date or a family outing for brunch. Also no issue with finding a parking spot which can often be an issue in the city. Last note, if you are looking for a place to work on the laptop they have internet which you can connect to 👍

Google
This place serves very delicious and sweet brunch. We ordered pancakes and eggs and they all taste so well and are served also very beautifully. However there is a long queue outside, you have to wait to get a table.

Google
This is a review of the take-away bake and coffee shop only. Looks fabulous but looks can be deceiving. Coffee americano in a little floppy paper cup tasted weak, and the pain au chocolate is a great looker and expansive but doughy and stale.

Google
Enjoyed a lovely lunch break here on a sunny Saturday. We had to wait 20 minutes, but could do so at some seating outside with a coffee. The food was amazing, and the staff super friendly

Google
I had a great time there. The perfect place to find an English and european bread Breakfast at the same time. The bread were so much fresh and the dishes were too delicious. I would like to try coffee next time there. We tried Shakshuka, that was really with the fresh tomatoes and good herbs. The hummus was definitely made with high quality cheakpeas and virgin olive oil.

Food was super good, service is also nice and I just love their breads.

Yelp
It is a nice cozy place with good music playing in the background. The menu has a good selection of items, and the food was delicious. The only problem I experienced was getting the check at the end of the meal. I asked the server for it, but he apparently forgot, because it took an extremely long time to get it and that was only after asking him for it again after waiting so long.

Yelp
I asked some friends for brunch recommendations. All of them recommended Benedict. The wait wasn't too bad. This place however super busy, and of course worth it. The service was good. If you don't speak German there are plenty of waiters who are fluent in English. We got some cocktails for brunch. Delicious but not really strong. The food was great. This place is really lively and cozy. Would highly recommend

Yelp
Benedict is a popular breakfast food spot. It's so busy that I don't even think about stopping by here unless I have a reservation. The good thing is, though, is that they also have a full-lowuor selection bar and is open til late at night (used to operate 24/7, but after COVID, they more or less changed to serving til 10 or 11Pm instead). The menu itself is a breakfast affair, with a variety of pancakes/sweet breakfast to yummy things like eggs Benedict varieties. I had Tower of Babylon, which was on a light side. But, having that with sourdough...it makes me feel so full that I couldn't really try some sweets/desserts as I initially hoped for. The place was busy and at times seemed understaffed. However, the staff was nice and polite. The bartender even gave me a cocktail drink on him, knowing it would take a little while for me to get my food the day I stopped by. The tower of Babylon that I ordered was perfect sized actually. It wasn't heavy and I felt great and not sluggish as I would normally feel with other breakfast foods after the meals. Check this place out during the breakfast/day time if you are looking for a trendy brunch spots..but the night/evening times offers a lill more intimate/swanky version of this dining place as well!

Yelp
Ambiance is eclectic & tre chic. Service is impeccable & the breakfast exquisite. Servers speak English if you're allergic to the local dialect. I've heard there's quite a wait for the breakfast crowd...we got here at the tail end of breakfast & there was a 15-20 min wait list. We grabbed some coffee & sat in the "waiting lounge". The que died down around the 1pm mark, but the restaurant was still bustling.

Yelp
Our favorite restaurant while visiting Berlin!! Highly recommend! Go in hungry!! I suggest the caesar benedict, so yummy!

Lucie S.

Yelp
If I could give 10 stars I would. Food is incredible, staff is AMAZING, vibe is perfect. White chocolate raspberry pancakes are a MUST TRY!!! Tea is wonderful, eggs Benedict too. The staff gave us extra bread when we left. Super sweet and soooo yummy.

Yelp
The best pancakes ever!! Blueberries and pistachios with white chocolate was the perfect choice.

Yelp
I was visiting Germany from America and I wasn't thrilled about going to eat American food in Germany but my hosts insisted, and I am glad they did. The decorations and room ambiance is beautiful and highly appealing. We started with the tower of babel which is a mix of fried green tomatoes, eggplants and hard boiled eggs on a stack. it was delicious and something i have never seen or tried before. For my main I had a feta and spinach omelette which came with unlimited house made bread and cream cheese spreads. Everything was super well made and tasty. We shared a small stack of coconut/ banana pancakes for desert , and they were the best pancakes I have ever had, so fluffy and delicious that I could not believe my senses. Overall it was A LOT of food and i ended up bringing some home which made for an excellent breakfast the next morning. The service was amazing and the staff was really kind and friendly with tourists which is very refreshing. There was a 30 minute wait for a table when we arrived, and it was totally worth the wait. Be patient!

Yelp
Let me preach it, it's BEST brunch place I've ever been too -- not just in Germany, but this restaurant even beats brunch restaurants in SoCal! The ambiance is so vibrant and fun, and the servers are so nice & caring. The highlight really is the food though. You can get your eggs just the way you like them: easy/medium/hard scramble, sunny side up, etc. The pancakes aren't your typical American pancakes; they're definitely more cake-y and dense rather than fluffy and airy. The flavor of the blueberry pancakes were spot on since they weren't overly sweet or tart from the berries. The Caesar salad was also delicious and we were surprised by the large portion size that it came as. Definitely worth trying for a healthier option. My favorite was the eggplant spread & Tower of Babylon! I've never seen these at other restaurant and was very unique to have. The spread doesn't come with bread, so we had to order that separately to have something to dip with. As for the tower, it really left all of us speechless in the table and even debated order another round had we not been so full already! I love that this place is open all day long, so you can enjoy their dishes no matter what time of day it is!

Yelp
The best breakfast I had in Germany literally right here! Did I mention it is also open 24/7 which is a rarity in Berlin. You can get the most amazing soufflé pancakes whenever you desire... it cannot get any better than that! I frequent this place a few times since everything on the menu here is great, and each time they were absolutely perfect. The waiters are awesome, the place very cozy, and food portions plentiful. I wish we had places like Benedict in New York!

Yelp
Breakfast on only breakfast! 24 hours a day! It's always breakfast time at Benedict! This is Berlin at its best. Open and fun, sit at the bar, table or outside and watch the world go by. The Benedict's are kings and queens here with all kinds to choose from. Great coffees as well as a zillion juices. I, of course went off the beaten track and did home made pancakes. I'm talking home made not like IHOP back home. These are think, fluffy pieces of heaven. All kinds of toppings. I had white chocolate pancakes and today has just as good! Local tip because it's always so crowded... sit at the bar and have Nico and his great crew take care of you. Oh and btw, you get a mimosa with breakfast!!!! Unbeatable combination!!!

Yelp
Great brunch spot before shopping. Eggs and frittata were excellent. The French toast and pancakes were perfectly cooked.

Yelp
Banana pancake (mini) Not too sweet, richful banana flavour with fluffy pancake. Just go for it, you will not regret!!!

Yelp
This restaurant issss so chic, cozy, hip and tasty. My friends and I visited on a whim and hunger panic. We stayed at the H 10 hotel in Berlin and they gave us a welcome packet (map and list of things to do and places to eat) I must say we were very happy with everything. The wait staff is so kind, welcoming and friendly. The food is amazing. This is a must go place to eat. You forget that you are in Germany and are transported to a posh spot in Tel Aviv. I love it and will be back when I come in town.

Tano W.

Yelp
Breakfast and drinks all around the clock, international menu, guests and service, highly recommend signature dishes. Usually packed.
google avatar

Beverly M.

Yelp
Their service here is awesome. Super friendly staff. The food is absolutely worth every penny. First day we had mini espresso pancakes, the avocado bagel and French toast with home fries. The pancakes and home fries were my favorite. A must have! Second day (because this place was so good) we all had their pancakes and home fries with eggs. So good! All of it! Thank you Benedict for giving us the best last breakfast of our time here in Berlin!
google avatar

Juan L.

Yelp
Food was ok, nothing really to write home about. Had the bacon Benedict breakfast, the hollandaise sauce did not have much of a taste. The poached eggs and bacon are served on store bought bread, a bit disappointed since this place has their own bakery. Posted 1/2 of my meal.
google avatar

Yelp
The hustle and bustle of Berlin with a hip vibe. All of the people working were young and nice! Had the small order of banana pancakes and we were warned they would take 20 minutes. They weren't kidding but BOY were the WORTH THE WAIT! The Benedict was also very nice! Fresh hot bread with a wonderful apple butter came before. Fresh squeezed orange juice too :-) I think the pancakes were one of the BEST THINGS I EVER ATE!
google avatar

Sophie P.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places for brunch because they have the standard American brunch optIons like pancakes, French toast, standard eggs etc. My favorite here is the breakfast shakshouka platter and the fluffy pancakes. There has always been a massive wait here when I go during brunch hours on a Saturday but it's worth the 30/40 min wait! They also have a small cafe on the side with some great pastries and good coffee to also help with the wait.
google avatar

Jimmy G.

Yelp
This restaurant is overrated. If you are foreign, good luck ordering food and getting the right food you ordered. The service is super slow even when they are not busy. I ordered the sloppy Joe's Benedicts and it was the worst food I've had in awhile. Not worth the time nor the money.
google avatar

E L.

Yelp
The best breakfast we had in Berlin. I think this place is attached to a hotel and it's not like your typical hotel bistro food. It is really delicious. It's decently priced. Good and fast service. The eggs Benedict with ham were amazing and I highly recommend getting them. The bread you get with your meal is also really good with the jam they give you. Plus, the restaurant is really pretty.
google avatar

Ava A.

Yelp
The wait may be long, but it is worth it. Full five star review to Benedict for nailing the food quality and service. My boyfriend and I celebrated our new year here and are leaving full and ready to start 2020 off happily. Ali took great care of us and is an amazing waiter. Pancakes and eggs Benedict can't go wrong. My boyfriend loved the Egg balls with shrimp also, great sauce and recommendation by Ali. Cheers!

Priam S.

Yelp
Everything about this place was amazing!! We were actually staying at the Max Brown hotel which is attached to the restaurant so we had to try it! Ambiance is so cute! They serve 24 breakfast with unlimited bread and coffee or juice. The cinnamon spread was amazing! Eggs Benedict with ham and bacon was definitely a favorite, so flavorful and filling. All the breakfast was really great. We even came back for happy hour where we had great cocktails 2 for the price of 1!! Overall great experience
google avatar

Natalee C.

Yelp
This place is always busy, the prices are expensive, the food is good although. We got the ShakShouka and the banana pancakes as well as hot chocolate. They give you unlimited bread and free water but the waiters take long to check on you.
google avatar

Jin K.

Yelp
Overall, the food is great and the environment is as well if you like crowds late at night. I came in on a Sunday night and it was packed. It seemed like a lot of people were enjoying their time here though. I find the space to be a bit small.
google avatar

Yelp
Finally.....the long impatient waiting is over.....Benedict from Tel Aviv has arrived in town-what a great place....best breakfast....cool interior....best fluffy pancakes....aaaannddd yes, egg benedict, which I just love!! You need to wait for your table a bit, but its worth the quality. Its breakfast only, but all day long (now 7-15, later 24/7) Fancy a great cool place come here, even during waiting time, you ll get served with Prosecco and pancakes. Enjoy!!! Very friendly staff, delicious food, great quality, value for money.
google avatar

Thea P.

Yelp
This place was amazing!! The best breakfast I had in Germany and so good we went back the next day. Pretty good service (by European standards), pretty reasonably priced and delicious! Couldn't recommend more. Less busy later in the morning/afternoon, but seems to get pretty busy so best to plan for that.
google avatar

Yelp
My wife booked us into Max Brown Hotel for our anniversary and I'm so glad she did due in no small part to Benedict. I have never had a breakfast included with a hotel that is as amazing as this. In fact this is some of the best breakfast/brunch I've had anywhere in the world. Highly recommend the white chocolate & Espresso Pancakes. The staff are helpful, super friendly and always on hand for a great suggestion to explore in the city. Check this place out for sure if you're looking for breakfast/brunch at any time of the day.

Jack M.

Yelp
OH MY GOD...best breakfast I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Came here after a very early flight pretty tired and had to wait 25 minutes. I would wait those 25 minutes again and again. Had the egg and avocado bagel sandwich. This thing was made of dreams and a very fair price.

Jorge Alberto S.

Yelp
Pretty tasty food. Nice place with tables outside. Service was very kind but a bit slow.
google avatar

Nicolas G.

Yelp
Very tasty breakfast and friendly service, but be prepared to wait for getting a table since it's always crowded. The mini pancakes are really good.
google avatar

Richard B.

Yelp
Definitely a spot to visit in Berlin for great food.... even better with Victor as you're waiter
google avatar

Dhruv S.

Yelp
From the unique and decorative ambiance to the delicious variety of breakfast choices this spot is phenomenal! We stayed at the hotel and had breakfast here on our second day. The meals were delicious and most of them included unlimited bread, coffee/mimosa, and assortment of spreads. Specifically the eggs Benedict and the French toast were our favorites! The restaurant/hotel staff are incredibly friendly and approachable as well.
google avatar

Laura E.

Yelp
Came here with two friends on Wednesday midday (11:30) and it was packed! After waiting for 20min we got a really nice table at the window. The restaurant itself is beautiful and there's a lot of attention to detail (even the bathrooms are super nice, a rare sight in Berlin). Menu is a mix of classic breakfast dishes and main courses that can still pass for brunch. Prices range from 9-16€ so it's rather pricy. Went for the vegan breakfast, hot drink or Mimosa, and bread basket included. The breakfast consisted of a large chickpea pancake with various veggies in it and a pickle relish in top and it was really good! It also comes with a small salad, tahini (dang good), baba ganoush (average) and beetroot hummus (okay). They bake the bread freshly in their in-house bakery so it's fresh but taste wise not super amazing. They refill your bread basket free of charge and you also get some butter, Nutella and a super delicious jam on the side (also free refills). At first I was a little put off by the prices but the food was honestly pretty good and it was a big portion! Considering that there's a drink, bread and other condiments included in the price and considering that the restaurant ambiance is very nice the price is justified! Benedict is definitely more of a treat than a regular spot but definitely worth a try, especially for late brunch/lunch. Oh and it's open 24/7!

Yelp
Such a bummer. I have wanted to try this hip looking establishment for a while now. My pup's vet is across the street and I always see it buzzing with people lined up. Should be a good sign, right? Hostess was friendly as was the service. Very typical attitude for such a jamming place. But I dont mind if the service thinks they are cooler than me, if they are good, which they were. Sad thing was the actual food. Cheap ingredients for such high prices. You are definitely paying for the vibe not the food. I ordered the avocado beneidict and it was depressing. Sitting on top of cheap bread, weak sauce, zero pico de gallo and to top with a basket of bread you get at 3 star buffet hotel breakfast. I don't mind paying for good food, but you guys fooled me with your fancy atmosphere.
google avatar

Ina E.

Yelp
Best breakfast I have ever had! And the place is so beautifully decorated I just wanted to move in there and spend my days on the green velvet sofa and have pineapple mimosas forever. Also great service with superfriendly staff. Don't miss out on this wonderful place!
google avatar

Ericka B.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my Birthday brunch here! Service was great and the food was amazing! Best breakfast in Berlin! Shakshuka was delicious!
google avatar

Daja P.

Yelp
Friendly staff and an awesome menu make this place great, but the addition of the pool table and free wifi are over the top! We've eaten here for the past two mornings and are bummed we can't return again tomorrow. Try the blueberry pancakes!
google avatar

Daniel M.

Yelp
We ordered the Eggs Benedict and it was fine. As we arrived the place was full and we were asked to wait for 20-30 minuets. It took almost an hour of waiting before we were seated. The whole entrance area of the restaurant was freezing cold (people dining with their coats on). We asked to switch to a warmer sitting area but were told there is nothing they can do at the moment.
google avatar

Justin S.

Yelp
Really good food and it seems to be a really popular brunch spot but when the service was sub-par. We waited about an hour before our food arrived at our table and we had to flag the staff down multiple times to get a status on our food. They seemed understaffed but they didn't do a good job keeping us informed of the food delays, etc.
google avatar

Estebam F.

Yelp
Service is very slow. People were seated after us and they were paying and leaving before us. They also don't respect law enforcement. One of their workers was wearing a shirt that translated to F*** the police. So if you are law enforcement or have family in law enforcement don't give your money to this establishment. I posted a picture of one of their workers wearing that t-shirt. On the other hand, their Eggs Bacon Benedict was delicious.
google avatar

Mike F.

Yelp
The bad: We arrived at 9:50, a group of four, for breakfast. We were told it was likely to be a 20 minute wait, if we'd like to grab a coffee in the hotel reception area they would call us when a table was available (Benedict's is inside the Max Brown hotel). Firstly, we want a coffee *with* our breakfast, not 20 minutes before. Secondly, the wait was more like 30 minutes. Ok, we could have had a coffee but had we known it would be that long, we would have gone somewhere else. When we were eventually seated, we were given time to check out the menus before our orders were taken. At some point you notice you've been here over an hour and breakfast is looking more like brunch - and you still haven't seen your food. The good: The staff are clearly busy, they're on the move constantly, rushing around trying to keep everybody happy. And they do it with a smile. When the food does eventually arrive it's great. Prices are very reasonable considering it's proximity to the Ku'damm. The waiting game is the only reason we would think twice about returning. When you have places to go and things to see on a city break vacation, you don't want to take two hours over breakfast. But, if you have the time and patience, Benedict's is great.
google avatar

Marissa J.

Yelp
So so good. Best pancakes I've ever had. Everyone needs to start doing pancakes like the. Also we tried a couple if the mimosas, they were all good. Particularly the lychee mimosa. Staff is extra friendly, they go the extra mile. If this isn't the best breakfast in Berlin, I am guessing the first is ran by Jesus himself.
google avatar

Dani J.

Yelp
Great service food atmosphere and company. I will visit when I'm in Berlin again. Americano coffee, divine
google avatar

Mike P.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, friendly wait staff. Portion sizes are large. I had the English breakfast it was amazing. The fresh bread was great
google avatar

Facundo F.

Yelp
We were a group of four and arrived at 13:00. We were told I wait around 1 hour but we got a table at 15:00. During the period we were not treated with anything despite in the past I have been there and they gave me something. After sitting and receiving the menu we have to wait another 15 minutes to get the usual glass of water and bread and to take our order. The time of preparing the dishes was quiet okay (around 15min) except that they brought one of the dishes wrong. Which lead to another 15 min more. So to have the whole idea, arrived at 13:00 but start eating at 15:45. Lastly, it's quite difficult to caught the attention of the waitress. In the positive side, the dishes are very good and abundant. And the bread of the their bakery is great.
google avatar

Madison C.

Yelp
Truly lives up to the hype!! They messed up my order but were very generous about it, providing free drinks and some fruit while we waited for them to fix it. The fluff on the pancakes is unreal.
google avatar

Tore S.

Yelp
Crazy good food. Breakfast from heaven. Very expensive , but you get what you pay for.
google avatar

James W.

Yelp
The restaurant is super cute but the food is ok. Traditional American southern cooking with weird German twists. The staff is absolutely terrible. I watched a barista make himself a coffee and drink it right in front of me after I sat down at the bar. He did not even offer me water or say good morning. I'm kind of shocked that this place had so many stars- my frittata was marginal at best.
