Charming local farm with excellent ice cream.
Stopped by Benedikt Dairy while I was in the area. Not far from Manchester, though it did require a small detour down local roads. The setup was modest: a small parking area next to a barn (no signage, so keep your eyes open), and inside, you’ll find a tiny self-serve store and a petting area with young calves.
Like many small New England farms, Benedikt runs on an honor system and membership model. Shoppers pay at the counter, and members get access to additional dairy selections from a separate fridge.
For casual visitors like me—just looking for something to enjoy on the spot—the offerings were limited, but I came specifically for the ice cream. I picked up a couple of small cups: vanilla and mango lassi.
They didn’t have spoons available, so unless you keep one in your car, be prepared to wait for it to melt a bit. Still, once the vanilla softened, it was phenomenal. Possibly the best I’ve had in New England. Soft, creamy, with just the right hint of iciness to make it refreshing and satisfying.
