We stayed at Hotel Climia Plaza in Benidorm in July on a full board basis, and unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish.|After travelling through the night with four small children, we arrived exhausted at 12pm, only to be told we couldn’t check in until 3pm. While we understand check-in policies, the lack of empathy from the male receptionist was shocking—he barely acknowledged us and offered no support or understanding despite our situation.|When we finally got to our rooms, things went from bad to worse. The rooms were in terrible condition: threadbare carpet, visible stains and dirt on the walls, chairs, and furniture. There was no balcony, just a window, which was littered with rubbish—including dirty underwear left from previous guests. It was absolutely unacceptable.|The food was another letdown. It was mostly lukewarm, with very little variety, especially for children. Not what you’d expect from a hotel catering to families.||Despite requesting rooms together and on a lower floor due to having two prams, we were placed on completely different floors—2 and 4—which made things incredibly difficult. The hotel has 17 floors but shockingly few lifts to accommodate guests, leading to long waits and frustration, especially when trying to manage prams or tired children. Again, when we asked to be moved, the same receptionist was rude, dismissive, and told us it wasn’t his problem and to speak to Jet2. He literally waved us off.||Another major downside is the pool area. There is no sun around the pool from lunchtime onwards, making it quite uninviting if you're hoping to relax or sunbathe in the afternoon.||This hotel is definitely not a four-star as advertised—it’s a two-star at best. The facilities, cleanliness, and service were far below standard. This was easily one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. We will not be returning, and I would strongly advise other families to think twice before booking.

18.07.25- 24.07.25 We had an amazing experience at this hotel from start to finish! The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, always happy to help with a smile. When we arrived, we noticed the room had two single beds instead of a double — we mentioned it at reception, and they changed it immediately with no fuss. Such great service! The room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully decorated, with a very comfortable bed and everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The location was perfect – close to everything , between old town and new town, minutes from the beach, but still peaceful and quiet at night. Both breakfast and dinner were fantastic delicious with plenty of fresh options, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was warm and elegant We had a wonderful time – and we will definitely return!

Review: Disappointing Stay at Benidorm Plaza Hotel I recently stayed at the Benidorm Plaza Hotel and was quite disappointed with several aspects of my visit. The hotel doesn’t really cater for English guests — most of the entertainment is entirely in Spanish and seems to focus on Spanish visitors only. It would have been nice to have something more inclusive for all nationalities. The breakfast was very poor and often cold, which was a letdown. On arrival, the reception staff didn’t mention that everyone is required to purchase a swimming hat to use the pool — even men with no hair! This should have been explained upfront. The evening meal doesn’t start until 8pm, which is far too late if you have children. When I asked if dinner could be served earlier, I was simply told that the Spanish don’t like to eat earlier. Similarly, when I asked why the swimming pool was covered, I was told it was because the Spanish think it’s too cold — again, not very accommodating for other guests. Overall, if you’re staying here, I’d say it’s fine as a basic place just to get your head down, but don’t expect much else.

Location was good. Rooms were very clean staff friendly . Entertainment more for Spanish people Down side is when going full board drinks are an extra charge . Water costs €2 euro and there is no free tea or coffee provided in rooms after first day.. Tea and coffee is only free with breakfast so dinner and tea you pay for hot drinks I think that this lets the hotel down.

Great hotel. [ my thoughts] Room nice size, great views [ 12th floor] Staff always gave a smile. A lot of spanish staying so you know it's a good hotel. Only breakfast on my deal & very good. [ mostly spanish] choices.

We visited for 4 nights with a couple of friends. Hotel rooms were clean and basic, as expected. No issues with room. Staff were nice. Drinks a little expensive for a benidorm hotel. Pool was a decent size but due to the high buildings sun was only around for a couple hours and we kept moving beds. Only a 5 min walk to beach. We didn't have food here so can't comment on that. No issues really with the hotel, I would stay here again if coming with friends as its close to bars and restaurants. I wouldn't come here as a couple.

Spent a lovely few days here. The hotel was clean, quiet, and well maintained. Check-in was smooth, the room was comfortable, and breakfast had a good variety — we especially enjoyed the churros. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. I’d like to briefly highlight Maria, who provided excellent service during our stay — very polite and attentive. All in all, a very pleasant experience. Would be happy to return if I’m ever in the area again.

Check in - We had a couple of hours wait until check in which is fine. We were not offered anywhere to leave luggage, we had to ask. They left us waiting by a locked door for awhile and were ignored. Eventually they let us in remotely, which left us wondering why they didn't unlock the door immediately. Reception staff were ok at best. Not overly friendly or helpful.||Rooms - First room - There were noisy dogs in room above, constant claws tapping around on the hard floor and yapping! Very odd and annoying! It was not clear upon booking that it's very pet friendly, it's in small print! Nothing against dogs but it felt like we were staying in a residential block, not a hotel and someone else's pets disturbing us was not what we expected. And there were lots of them around, so not for you if you don't like dogs or have allergies. Reception did move us but the attitude was that they're pet friendly so what did we expect? New room was ok. Seemed ok at first glance but then we noticed the bathroom wasn't that clean with hair around back of toilet etc, quite shabby with wallpaper lifting and old fixtures. Shower was awful and we ended up with a flooded bathroom and had to have maintenance and cleaners in and out while us 3 women were trying to get ready to make it to a reservation we'd made elsewhere. We were consistently not given enough towels of required sizes throughout the trip. And make sure you put your DND sign on the door every night if you're after a relaxed morning or you'll have cleaners hammering your door at 7.50am trying to come in and clean!! Woke us up which we didn't appreciate and seemed surprised we didn't want them in so early!||Restaurant - We booked half board but would only recommend breakfast to be honest. Food was ok, choice wasn't bad but found all meat and fish overcooked and chewy or tough. Breakfast finishes at 10am though and if you're not in by 9.30am there is nothing topped up, so don't expect a lie in on your holiday if you also want breakfast. Evening dining doesn't even start until 7 which we found too late, especially if you wanted to grab a bite before heading out. For this reason we didn't get value for money from booking half board. There's lots of places to eat in Old Town so I'd recommend that instead.||Pool and loungers - Not a particularly big area to service a hotel of it's size. Whole area in shade by 3pm so don't expect to sunbathe all day. Pot luck as to whether you get a lounger. We all managed to get one eventually but completely separate from each other so not much fun when on holiday together. On the final day I was sick of all the towels being left on loungers (had been observing from our balcony throughout stay, towels start arriving on longers from about 7am. Also we had seen whole families leaving towels, going off for lunch etc) so decided if you can't beat them, join them. Went down, put towels for me and 2 friends, enjoyed a half hour sunbathe then went to breakfast. Came out an hour later to find out towels gone and loungers taken. Couldn't believe it given we had seen nobody bother to manage the situation all week leaving us with nowhere to lie or having to lie separately when longers had towels on! Ladies on loungers next to ours said bar staff came over and took them yet some others were left. Went to the bar to ask how come they moved ours and the woman just thrust a sheet of laminated paper in my face saying no sun lounger reservation, which I fully support if managed consistently but it is most certainly not!! Tried to talk to her and say she had done it unfairly but she just looks blankly at you so wasting your breath. There was a leaking overflow on about 2nd floor of the building which was cascading dirty water periodically over the loungers below. It was splashing off the tiles over me and others and into our drinks etc. Everyone was moaning about it but I happened to see jet 2 were in the hotel that morning so popped down to see them and they got maintenance out, although it continued for sometime so not a particularly nice experience. My advice is ditch the pool area and head 5 mins down the road to Levante beach which is glorious with sun all day.||Bar - Same woman who took towels was usually working, very rude! Genuinely seemed to dislike anyone not Spanish and just looked at you when it was your turn to order. If she was mid conversation it was like you were inconveniencing her. I ordered a coke, a draught lager and a Corona on my first trip to the bar and she gave me a lemon slushy. I politely said no sorry I didn't want that. She snatched it away and then got the draught lager that was missing. I paid and went away. It wasn't until I ordered more of the same round I realised she charged me for the drink she incorrectly poured and removed from me!||Lifts - Very slow and some don't work. You're quicker using stairs where possible.||Entertainment - Like a half dead working mens club and all in Spanish. Thank goodness there's plenty to do outside the hotel.||Only reasons this hotel even gets 2 stars from me is that breakfast is ok, beds are comfortable enough and the location is brilliant. If you literally just want b&b then possibly give it a go. If you want a nice hotel experience, this isn't the one. ||I am returning to Old Town soon as loved the area, but have chosen a different hotel with consistently brilliant reviews. If this place had been better I would have used it again. Unfortunately it's a Never Again from me.
