Benja Thai Restaurant

A neighbor of mine said we should go here once we arrive in Keremeos. Now we did that, the place looked nice and and cozy. Waitress was fine but busy due to not many staff so getting her attention was difficult. I am not a Thai guy but my partner is. From what I understand Thai is mainly about the flavors of curries and sauces. So we ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken (lacked Thia flavor just a stir fry), 2 pork chops (was OK Meat was dry), Pad-see-ew (totally disappointing, it was just tomato soup) and Kao-pad kapoa (best of the 4 options) Rice. For the 3 of us we ordered those 4 dishes thinking we would have left overs. As we got the dishes we noticed how small the portions were and my partner was upset that is was not authentic enough. We ended up paying just under $100 and left hungry. We would not recommend this place unless your absolutely craving Thia which I am sure there are options elsewhere in other nearby towns. Sorry I didn't think to take pictures.

We ordered take out Pad Thai chicken, then we ate it in a nearby park. There are washrooms in the park and shade from several mature Ponderosa Pine trees estimated to be over 150 years old. (Really awesome old trees) I had a dog with me so it made sense to eat in the park. Authentic cuisine very tasty. Please try them in Keremeos, BC. Congratulations!

Very friendly service! The food was very clearly authentic and really tasty food. The server was running the whole place herself, and clearly it caused a small lag in service but not a big deal at all. If you want some delicious Asian cuisine in an area that is sorely lacking in it, you should definitely check this restaurant out!

While I personally found the food be quite good, it lacked the intensity (and heat) that I have had at other Thai restaurants - perhaps that's just length of time since I last had Thai food, or a slightly different range of dishes we ordered. The atmosphere here is wonderful. The various ornaments and detail on the furniture very intriguing. While the food did arrive much quicker than anticipated, we found the service to be merely adequate (but not great) The people who own and run the business are wonderful.

A cute little Thai place we stopped at for lunch while in Keremeos. The service was a little slow especially since no one else where there. Loved their lunch special as I got to try a few of their dishes in one meal. The curry was flavourful and the salad dressing on the salad was to die for! The biggest hit of the meal was their iced Thai tea. Very unique and delicious! A little pricey, but makes sense with inflation these days. Overall, would go back!

Ordered deep fried wonton appy - very little filling, mostly deep fry. Pad thai with chicken and shrimp had very little meat or veggies. Mostly rice and sauce. Very mediocre with little flavour. Big cost for less than average food. Service and ambience was good.

Absolutely horrible food, water of time and money. A pile of greasy rubbish with no flavour, no spice. When you ask for hot sauce it’s cheap red pepper flakes, or cheap red pepper flakes in canola oil. The table beside us was also asking for the complaint department for their gross greasy flavourless unspicy Thai food. Server was lovely, but food was inedible.

After waking up in the morning, my family and I went to have breakfast in a small Thai restaurant in this beautiful town. Parking is available. Upon entering, you are met by a very pleasant person. Cozy design in Thai style. A good menu with a very large variety of dishes. The service is fast and high-quality. We liked everything very much. I recommend it for a visit, especially for lovers of Thai cuisine. The morning started on a good note. Thank you.

We've been to Thai restaurants in Thailand, Dubai, the UK, and Canada and, sorry to say, we Benja's food is quite mediocre. Nice people and their take out is ready on time and hot. The restaurant itself seats very few people but thats a valid business proposition.

My partner and I stopped here for lunch and to stop off at a few wineries on the way to Osoyoos. It's just off the main road downtown Keremeos and difficult to miss. The restaurant is clean and staff were friendly, helpful and quick to respond. We ordered the spring rolls, bean thread noodle salad with prawns and chicken and a noodle dish, can't remember the name but was the first and spicy option with Thai basil, red chilies, sweet peppers and chicken. I also ordered a Thai iced coffee Everything was delicious. The iced coffee was creamy but not overly sweet. All the dishes were packed with flavour. I only deducted a star because while I found the prices reasonable, I felt the dishes could be bigger. Particularly the noodle dish which should've been more entree size.

Authentic Thai people making up authentic Thai food. We stopped here for lunch after a weekend in naramata. Everything was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the massaman curry which I haven't had since I was in Thailand, it was absolutely delicious. The owners are so kind and they work their asses off. Make sure you stop in here

Have been going to the restaurant since it opened. It's a gem for the town of Keremeos, some of the best Thai food around. However, the service has declined steadily. Before the owner used to always greet you and talk about the food, now you have to track down the servers to get any service. I dont recommend the soups, way too many mushrooms compared to other ingredients, but the stirfrys are pretty good, particularly the Pad Krapao. Overall, the food is mostly still pretty good, if you dont mind lackadaisical service.

All I can say is wow! I would not have expected to have amazing Thai around here, and I'm glad I underestimated the experience. The food is fresh and tasty, and the service is excellent. My wife and I had the special fried dumpling appetizer and it was excellent. It was like little Thai samosas deep fried with plum sauce. Very good. We then shared the chicken panang curry, the special seafood curry, and once finished, we added a chicken pad Thai. It was all very fresh, bright, and so tasty. This was better than any Thai we've had in Calgary by far. We will be back.

Hi this place was so good. The ambience is just just like your are in Thailand. The people are so friendly And the food it was amazing I love the fried rice. Only disappointing was portioning of food. Except that everything was perfect

We come here regularly from Osoyoos, it's that good. My husband who is picky and is gluten intolerant has enjoyed much of the menu ( as have I!). Excellent staff, always warm and welcoming. Also, they keep it very clean. They really check all the boxes. I feel like I'm sharing my favourite secret here, this place is a real gem of Keremeos!

While staying in Kalden, my friends and I decided to treat our taste buds and have some Thai food. We called to order take-out as were coming back from a long day of wine tasting and were promised food in 15 minutes. This is a family run business that could use a bit of help in terms of dealing with customers. We had to sit an extra 10 minutes in the car before they informed us that one of our orders was running late. The food itself was ok and nothing better than a typical Thai house. I would look for another choice the next time I'm in the Okanagan Valley when it comes to Thai food.

My boyfriend I found ourselves looking for dinner one night as we were camping. We look at the reviews and this restaurant was highly rated. We're in keremeos so we weren't expecting much but boy were we pleasantly surprised. My meal was cooked perfectly. The vegetables were crisp the flavor was great the servers were awesome. If you find yourself in keremeos and hungry don't walk by this place make sure you go in and have a great meal.

We dropped by here on our drive to the coast and I was amazed to find such good Thai food in a small town. The restaurant decor is delightful and the staff are friendly. I had the Tom Yum Kung soup and veggies in sweet and sour sauce and they were amazing. The Tom Yum was so good I drank every last drop of the broth - it was a perfect balance of spicy but savory and flavourful. I was also impressed by the density of ingredients in the soup, it wasn't just broth with a few tidbits floating in it. The sweet and sour veggies were great as well, the vegetables were obviously very fresh and prepared expertly. The sweet and sour sauce was just the right balance, without being sticky sweet. I cleaned my plate of every last bit of sauce, which I never do. I also really appreciated that they labelled the gluten free items. Overall, I wish they were in Vancouver, I would eat there more often.

Neat find in a sleepy interior town. Food was fairly tasty, 4 out of 5 for the food. It was quite pricey for the size of the dishes and location. rice was $6 a bowl and dishes $11-$13. Total bill was over $70 with tax and tip for 2 people. Would go back, but probably not regularly.

Easily the busiest restaurant in town. And for good reason--the food is delicious. Made with locally sourced veggies my Red curry bowl was authentically Thai. Well worth a visit if you enjoy tasty Thai.

Legit Thai restaurant. First time been in this small town and love it. We got papaya salad, green curry and Benja Tom yum soup noddle. They were excellent. Authentic taste. Definitely recommended to everyone!!!

Travelling alone and pulled into Keremeos on my way to Victoria. checked on line where to eat, read a couple of reviews and headed out to find the best little hidden secret. Good Service and good quick food. Would stop in again. thank you. Holly

The best Thai food I've had in a very long time. Their Thai iced tea is bomb, has a great flavour but not overly sweet.

Yum!!! They really put effort into the food it's delicious! Everything mouth watering good! Gluten free, the service is always so kind welcoming and on point! You will not find a better thia place anywhere not even in Vancouver yummmmm

May 7/11 Had a delicious lunch at this little spot on the main road (Hwy 3) in Keremeos, BC. We'd heard about it before, but after buying some plants and such at Don & Anna's Garden Center we thought we'd give this a place a try. What a treat - taste was bang-on and we'd definitely eat there again. Most entrees run around the $11 range, so it's not a cheap lunch (on a per person basis) but you can't beat the taste - fresh and pleasantly hot.

Very disappointed with both the food quality and the service. We've driven by this restaurant many times travelling the Crowsnest. Finally decided to stop in for dinner after a long day of travelling. My son was excited to try their curry. It was so runny it was like coloured water. Tasteless. Vegetarian dish was good as was the pad Thai so it made up for the awful curry. Then we made the mistake of ordering dessert. Waited what seemed to be 20+ minutes for the dessert to come out. Staff were no where to be seen. I was ready to just walk out! Staff never apologized for the delay. My kids were bouncing off the walls at that point. Will Never Go Back.

The food was legitimately delicious. However there are enough problems that I would put this place at a 2.5-3* range. First, and biggest problem is portions are absolutely tiny. Rice is $6/bowl for a large and the bowl is really small. My family (2 adults, 1 yr and 3 yr) finished 4 bowls and could have had more. Curries were good, but again, small. Pad Krapao was good and a bit more respectable portion. Second major problem was service. We were brought the wrong curry. We ordered Red and received Massman. We realized after we had dished a bit up onto some plates, but at least half remained. They would not take it back and bring the correct dish. Only offered to bring the correct dish if we paid additionally for it. Not acceptable in my book. The food is great though, and the atmosphere is good. If you're not concerned about cost, go and enjoy. Order a couple dishes more than you would normally at a Thai restaurant and you won't be disappointed.

Not the best thai food. I ate here twice in 7 days. I found the food lacklustre and portions small. The food was bland. Service was good. Ambience was fine.

Excellent Thai food. Just like being in Thailand , which we have visited twice. A little pricey but good portions. This is now an annual place to stop when in the area.

I've put off giving a review because quit honestly I'm a bit biased. The owners are friends of my wife who is also Thai. Last week we had friends stay with us from the Coast, my wife's Thai friend and her husband. They wanted to go out for dinner and with only two ethnic restaurants in town they picked Benja, which was no surprise. The food is North Eastern style which is a bit different than what most Thai restaurants outside Thailand serve. The food was great as usual and our friends were surprised at the authenticity. There is no more positive review that's more reassuring than from people that have eaten this style of food all their life and think it's great here.

If you like authentic, flavourful Thai food you need to stop at Benja. The restaurant is upgraded, the staff is friendly and the food is fabulous. We go quite often and the satay are to die for. Staff will happily create a meal specifically for your group to fit your budget, as authentic as you like it! Great local wine list encompasses the best of the local vino.

Actually one of the best Thai places I've been to in BC -- total surprise!
