Very cool place behind Main Street. The blacksmith was working on creating J Hooks, S Hooks, and Hairpins that are sold for donation to guests. She answered lots of questions about the process and how black smiting works. I highly recommend stopping by here, especially if you already have your fort ticket which includes entrance to the blacksmith shop.

The blacksmith was one of the highlights of our Mackinaw Island trip. Besides his metal work and functionings of the shop, he shared much about Native Americans and the history of the region. Super nice job!

This has the largest collection of blacksmith tools i have ever seen. The blacksmith working there was really really polite and answered all our questions.

This is blacksmith shop maintained in old form. Children can witness how iron different articles are made in earlier days. Entrance for this shop is included in Fort ticket. Not much to see for we from India. But good thing to witness at this place.

This site is associated with the fort and several other locations. It was fun speaking with the young blacksmith, learning how and why she became interested in the trade. She was very knowledgeable and fun to talk to.

The blacksmiths were super nice and knowledgeable! I got a cool swirly ring with accents of brushed bronze that they sized for me!

Yelp
How often do you get to see an actual blacksmith performing his craft? I didn't catch the blacksmith's name, unfortunately, but he was very knowledgeable about not only blacksmithing, but about the fur trade as well and happy to answer all our questions and share his craft with us. We donated and he gave us the S-hook he had been hammering away at for what felt like the past thirty minutes. Definitely worth stopping by, and if you purchased the Fort Mackinac admission tickets, it's included.
