Benjamín Rivera Noriega Airport (CPX)

Thank goodness there is an airport in Culebra. It provides a great connection to the main island which complements the ferry. Airport terminal had AC (and it was super refreshing), the runway was well kept, and it was a short walk to transport.

I wish all airports were this easy. Makes you appreciate the simple things in life. Go visit Ed at the coffee shop, he’ll enlighten you with kindness. Cash 💵 only 😉 oh and did I mention the landing into CPX? Beats a ferry any day. IYKYK

Probably the most incredible landing you will experience outside of Aspen. Nice airport with air conditioning. No vending machines and cafe is often closed. Byob.

If you need food before your flight, this is the spot. Especially since most restaurants are closed after 9am ;) [no but for real everything closes on this island super early like at 2pm]... The sandwiches are great! The service even better!

The airport is tight, but they actually have a small shop inside of it that sells some basic goods and food. The flight will be the longest 12 minutes of your life if you fly in from Ceiba. The landing is a real clincher seeing the pilot maneuver a small propeller airplane between to mountains to stick the landing is always a thrill.

Small sleepy airport in a small sleepy town. The airport perfectly complements the island. It's laid back, simple, and plain. You have a parking lot, restrooms, a café, chairs, the airline booths, and a Carlos Jeep Rental booth. And of course the runway, which is properly paved and smooth. The airport is always clean inside and out. No need for baggage claim. When you get off the plane you are handed you bags right there. There is never traffic getting in and out, and rarely crowds. No pressure when loading and unloading your vehicle at curbside. It's stress free, as opposed to the stressful ferry situation. I'd rather pay more and fly. Easy in and out. Any stress such as delayed or cancelled flights are really airline issues for the most part. Airport is across the street from Jerry's Jeep Rental, Carlos Jeep Rental, and La Pista restaurant. Next door is Gmart, El Encanto Bakery, and Happy Landing.

If you have read any of my other PR reviews, there is a little mention to this airport on there. We took an on demand flight from Ceiba to Culebra arriving via Air Flamenco, and we were supposed to return via VAL. When we arrived here, we put our names down for the return flight to Ceiba via VAL airlines. The guy there said the system was down so he just wrote down our names. We got back to the airport around 5:10 for our 5:30 flight - believe me, this is plenty of time for this tiny airport. It's just a few small planes going in and out. I was assuming he was calling names for the 5pm flight and the flight took off. We asked when the 5:30 flight would actually leave and he told us it had just left! He never wrote down our names and claimed to not remember us. Luckily, before we left, I asked him to write down all his info for us on one of their cards. He remembered when we showed him the card. He then tried to tell us we could get a private-chartered flight for $300. Obviously, we were not having this and threw a fit because we had no way of getting back to the main island that night as the ferries were all gone for the day. He called in some favors and had a friend fly us back to the island in his four-seater puddle jumper. As neat as it was to get a private chartered plane ride back to the island, it was extremely disorganized and stressful. Make sure if you take a plane from here, you get them to give you something to confirm it, or you might get stranded as well!!

Quickest most efficient flight ever! We didn't even have to go through security. 30 minutes prior to our flight was perfect time.

Small airport but they do have a nice cafe inside I case you're hungry. Easy check in and we were off. The approach into the airport is a little bumpy but the pilot had warned us so it was no big deal.

I accidentally booked the tickets in wrong day. One month earlier than I planned. They never called at the day I supposed to take the flight to ask. And never have a text or email notice after to notice I missed the flight. It was my fault to biked the flight at wrong day, but I think it's their responsibility to notice people who didn't make the flight, especially there isn't many people for one flight. That way we wouldn't stuck at the airport cause we never knew we booked the wrong flight, and didn't make a back up plan. They definitely could make the service better

Nice small airport. They have food & golf cart/jeep concessions right there.

My girlfriend night got up at four in the morning to drive from old San Juan to the ferry terminal. We ended up getting our tickets about an hour after they opened. Then, we proceeded to wait for about an hour and a half for our ferry to board at 9 o'clock. The ride was unbearable. It just so happened we were going to Culebra and the seas were very very rough that day. Unfortunately, the only return for the boat was at 9 PM. Our day on the island ended up being not so great. What we ended up doing was booking a $95 ticket for two people on one of the small aircraft back to the mainland. We wished we had done that round-trip. It was absolutely worth the extra few dollars, and the flight was beautiful and only lasted 15 minutes. We booked the day of on our flight and had to wait almost no time to get on board. We saw people from our ferry ride doing the same thing. The plane was not nearly as scary as the boat. This airport saved our trip. Spend the extra money and get round-trip tickets. That's the way to go. Skip the ferry

Cool little airport. My friend and I visited everyday because they had great WIFI and clean bathrooms. Sounds silly, I know. We laughed about it too.
