Benji & Jakes

Benji and Jake’s is always a must have when looking for both ambiance and good food. We made a reservation to sit outside but when we arrived they didn’t have a record Of it. Luckily there was still room and we were able to be seated overlooking the lake. We ordered a mixed green salad which is a standard salad but what takes it to the next level is the delicious spicy peanut sauce you can order as the dressing. We also ordered the Jackson Pollock pizza which provides a nice flavor combination of smokey eggplant, pesto and vodka sauce. My only complaint is this pizza is incredibly oily which is to be expected to a degree with the pesto and cheese. However, don’t let this stop you from ordering it and the flavor is well worth it. Highly recommend this place for delicious food and a great location.

I’ve been coming here for over a decade and the food is always fantastic! I recommend the golden triangles for an appetizer and I tried the vampire slayer pizza last night and it was very good just pretty spicy next time I’m going with no cherry peppers. I also recommend the sweetie pie pizza. I love this place and the food is worth the price!

Came here on 7/10 for desserts and a drink. The interior is rustic and very cozy. Upon entering the staff greeted us and was very friendly. We ordered ice cream and a cocktail and sat on the back deck to enjoy the view and sun. The homemade ice cream and pina colada was excellent. I would definitely recommend this place at any time of day. Thank you for a great experience.

This was a strange experience at a beautiful location , we were warned that they were understaffed tonight and things might take a while, but despite these delays and several false alarms with the wrong meals being brought out, when we got our food it was really good. Tasty wings, mozzarella fire sticks, corn ribs pitta and Houmus all delicious . Pizza and burger excellent too. The staff were lovely if a little befuddled and very young to be running the place , perhaps the management should help them out a bit more .

Scrolling through some photos and forgot to post about this gem! We stopped here with a group of friends while out on the motorcycles and it was AWESOME!!! There is plenty of indoor seating and a bar but it was a gorgeous day so we took the seating outside on the deck. We ordered a bunch of different pizzas to share and all of them were delicious!!! Service was great, atmosphere was on point and I took my very first photo of a toilet seat in a restaurant because I never saw one like it and thought it was the coolest thing! Would absolutely come back next time we are in the area!

Called up with reservation for 13. They said "sure no problem". Had us set up in the back. We ordered many appetizers and 8 different pizzas. Amazing food!

This place was quite nice! It's right on a lake, so a fantastic view was to be had. We didn't sit outside unfortunately because it had just rained, but that was an option. My son and I shared a vegan pepperoni pizza which was AWESOME. We loved it.

Saturday night dinner at the bar. The female bartender was fantastic. Attentive friendly and made some wonderful cocktails. We have been going to Benji and Jake’s for 13 years and they never disappoint. The food is great and just a great vibe!!! Go there!!!!

Came here on a weekend with a couple friends and definitely stayed longer than I planned. We got a mix of stuff - the pizzas are really good, I was even full and couldn't stop eating. Their tofu triangles were a random thing I tried and they ended up being really tasty (it surprised me). Service was also great and the staff was super nice. They treated us as a group like it was no thing. There was a bit of a wait time but we weren't bothered at all. The area is very chill, and there's a small beach area right next to it, which if you wanted to hang out and not rush or anything it kind of works out. I would come back for sure, it is one of those places that just feels good to be at not just for the food.

Got to Bethel early we were starving saw this place WHAT a great move. Service was excellent even though the place was crowded. There's a deck right on the Lake front and a second floor deck also. Drinks were excellent and the Pizza was great NOT a five star of course but if your looking for that in this area move on but if your looking for a fun place on the water with delicious food This is it. Try the corn ribs WOW we had two servings of those never had them that way before. If you're going to Bethel Woods for a concert this is the first stop. Beers were cold and the drinks made perfect.

Beautiful location, quaint outdoor section. Beware of other guests throwing their drinks over the top rail, you will get wet like we did. No free refills on soda. Michelob Ultra was not on the menu; we decided not to stay. They were out of wings, so we ordered a jumbo pretzel. It was delicious. Lots of flies behind the counter. Probably won't return.

Based on another business owner bashing this place due to being arrogant, My husband and I decided to support Benji and Jakes. Everyone here was so welcoming and definitely service with a smile. We were seated on the patio and it was so nice to eat outside on the water. We had the Arancini appetizer and the plain Jane large pie. Zeppoles for dessert Everything was very fresh and very good. We look forward to coming back again. Where we know we are welcome.

Fantastic food I had the burger special cooked to perfection med rare... The black garlic and truffle oil waffle fries were very good...I would definitely recommend it to everyone...

Great service and even better pizza, tried the buffalo chicken and it was great. The Kona on draught hit the spot as well.

Being born & raised in the Bronx, I know what Good Pizza IS. This place's pizza is Great! (Be sure to order yours well done.). Additionally, their soups are Excellent. Service is Very Good and the location on the lake just can't be beat.

Jackson Pollock pizza. Has marinara, vodka, fire roasted eggplant, and pesto sauces with smoked mozzarella and cremini shrooms. Delicious!!! Nice thin crust but not soggy. All fresh ingredients! I'm glad I live 7 minutes from this establishment!

We had pizza and drinks there in August 2023. The pizza was delicious. Thin crust. They have a pretty good menu. Everybody can find something to eat there. It is a cozy place with a great view of the lake. It was busy on Friday night but we were seated quickly.

I have had many a pizza at Benji and Jakes and by far my favorite is the Jackson Pollock! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

The food has always been great. Tried to place a take out order over the phone but no answer. Drove there to place an order and was told the kitchen couldn't handle large take out orders when the restaurant is busy. Meanwhile there was a completed take out order that was larger than mine completed less than 5 minutes before I walked in.

3rd pizzeria I am trying around this area and it's a fail. The flavor is good, definitely better than sorellas which was complete trash, well seasoned and all. However I don't like my pizza crust with a 4th degree burn....for a pizzeria this is a joke. Furthermore the crust is a hybrid between white and whole-wheat which I only found out after taking a bite, nowhere on the online menu does it state this. My wife tasted the whole-wheat right away and just dropped the slice. Another fail. Basically if anyone has a solid pizza recommendation around this area please let me know!

Our waitress was waiting on the entire restaurant by herself and she did a great job because I would have just walked out if I worked there. I'd like to order a Jack Daniels and Coke. Waitress comes back says they are out of Jack. Okay get me a Tennessee Williams. Waitress comes back saying we are out of that as well. I'll take an IPA on tap that my wife just got. Waitress comes back saying they just ran out of IPA. I'll take a kettle and soda. She comes back with my drink and to take the rest of the order. We'll have an order of wings. Oh we are out of wings the waitress tells us. Table of 8 sits down next to us, places their order and they start getting orders of wings. Can't make this stuff up.

Lovely lunch here. We were able to snag a table facing the lake out on the back deck. Lunch today was pizza and hot dogs. We shared the AVIV pie. A great combo of leeks, asparagus, and cheese on a made to order pie. Delish.

Service was fast and the waiters were giving top attention to our group of 9. Food arrived quickly and it was perfect. 3 totally different pizzas and other food was perfect. Mixed drinks and a great variety of beers.

Great food and service and a little private beach. (Pro tip, be sure to let them know you're going to the little beach or they will clear your food away and reset your table.) I've enjoyed everything I've had here from the gourmet pizzas to the tofu triangles. They have a bar upstairs and a nice selection of drinks.

We stopped in on a Wednesday night and we seated immediately. They have a large menu and an option for everyone. My husband and I enjoyed a Big Poppy's pizza. The pizza and service were slightly above average, but we both felt it needed condiments to add flavor. Overall it was a nice evening out and the staff was very friendly.

It was okay. It was the first time I'd been in there in about 5 years. Servers seemed overwhelmed with the volume of customers and they didn't come to clear the dishes from our appetizers before our main dishes were served. We had to flag them down to get napkins, and to look at the menu again for a to go order. I ordered Pinot Grigio and they brought me rosé, which would've been fine if I didn't have to wait ten minutes trying to flag a server down to get the correct wine brought over. Servers never came to check on us unless we flagged them down. One server tried to pretend they didn't see me as I called out to her and waved. Maybe past it's prime? But they were doing a bustling dinner business.

Lovely casual setting overlooking Kauneonga lake. Food is delicious. We love going regularly.

I actually found this restaurant while visiting the site of Woodstock 69 in Bethel Woods using my Happy Cow app as I am vegan. I was promptly greeted upon arrival and asked where I'd like to be seated without initially having been given options or descriptions. I chose upstairs and outside on what had turned out to be a magnificent sunny summer day. Parking was rather funky and limited, but I found a spot across the street. The menu selection was adequate ( I had a vegiburger with fries and a diet coke), service decent, and prices reasonable. I'll definitely return on a future visit

We were in town for a concert and stopped in this restaurant for dinner. We shared a salad and a small margarita pizza with chicken. So, so fresh and delicious. Service was excellent! So happy we went

Gave this place three chances, they blew it each time due to the absolutely lousy and miserable bartender. She's literally horrible at her job and clearly doesn't want to be there. Decent food and there is a lovely view of the lake. But the vibe sucks, won't go back as long as she is working there.

Really good pizza. Not many options in the area so I figured this would be just , "meh." Happy to say I was wrong. Solid pie, good service and a nice view. Go with the eggplant pizza

To say the service was poor would be an understatement. I should have left when my two kids and I were greeted by three different wait staff telling me it was not their job to seat customers. Then it took 10 minutes for a waitress to bring menus. Forty-five minutes after ordering, they brought one of our orders out, and told us it would be at least 10 minutes until the rest (pasta) would come. 15 minutes afterwards, and still no food, I asked for our check. At which point one of the owners (Benji? Jake? The short dark haired one with little D energy) came out to tell me that they had other customers (the place was half empty) and so it wasn't reasonable for me to expect food to be served within an hour. Then I got a check for our drinks, including charges for Shirley Temples my girls never got (the place didn't have grenadine!). TL;DR: awful service, rude owners, bizzare lack of basic Items in stock. Recommend you avoid!!!

Too many flies. Could use better sanitation. Eating with one hand and swatting flies with the other.

The pizza was delicious! The top shelf margarita was outstanding. The view can't be better. I also really enjoyed the Thai peanut dressing on the salad.

Was here visiting my Mom and looking for a quick bite been here before the beer selection was great and had a large pie half Margharita half mushroom the flavor was good and the crust was thin and crisp ... lots of toppings to choose from and the view can't be beat ...

Excellent all the way around if you come to the area of white lake this is a place you don't want to miss ...

We've been back several times in the past six weeks. Always delicious, fresh food with a unique spin on the classics. So far, everything that we've tried is delicious but the Truffle Tots have me hooked!

I have a special place in my heart for Benji and Jake's...been coming here for years, since they first opened. Really authentic, delicious pizza that cannot be found elsewhere in the Catskills. I recommend the Death by Pizza- it's like Italy and Mexico collided in pizza form. The beer battered jalapeno rings are a great appetizer if you can handle some heat. I love the atmosphere and sitting outside facing the lake on a beautiful summer day or evening. They also have a beer garden with some interesting sculptures where you can hang out. Upstairs, they have a bar and a space so a band can play (get the sangria, ask for a little bit of ice). They also sell gelato in the front.

Stopped in for dinner on the way to a concert at Bethel Woods. Shared a pizza and salad with my wife. It was absolutely delicious! There is a beautiful lake view in the dining room. I highly recommend this restaurant.

When another local restaurant wasn't taking reservations and had no where to seat a party of 4 we stopped at Benji and Jake's. We got seated fast on the balcony over looking the lake. Service was quick and friendly. Pizzas were crispy and delicious. Very happy we stopped by and would recommend you do the same!

Wings and pizza are great! As a New Haven resident, I have high expectations for thin crust pizza, and the pizza here was very, very good. I would eat here every week if I could. The wings are so so tasty and not fried, but roasted so definitely a healthier option. The only reason I took off one star was for the service. No table seemed to have a dedicated server so someone showed up when you waved them down, but it would've been nice to feel more taken care of. Restaurant has a cozy inside and great outdoor seating views of a lake.

The restaurant is very dirty. Patrons were walking around barefoot without shirts on. Coming in from the dock up to the bars. We sat down for a meal and waited an extreme amount of time and were ignored. We asked for assistance and were constantly informed that our waitress would be right now. When we finally ordered, half the food came out at an appropriate time, while the rest of our dinning partners had to wait another 20 minutes. Our food became cold as we waited. In addition, the food was bland. Had no taste, and was not worth the service. I would recommend Barrio Kitchen next door for great food, as Benji and Jakes is more like Boring and Awful.

Best pizza around!! And such a fun spot to hangout and grab a drink or grab a pizza with friends.

As a native New Yorker, I'm pretty picky about my pizza. In fact, I decided to give this restaurant a try because of the amazing view of the lake from the upper level seating area, and that did not disappoint--the lake is very pretty. I arrived with three other guests and at the conclusion of our meal, the general consensus was that the food was "decent", or even "pretty good". One of my sisters tried the minestrone soup. It came in a small bowl with lots of whole basil leaves. She liked it--a lot. Then we ordered a T-rex pizza (without the ground beef) for the table. It took a long, long, LONG time, more time than I could ever reasonably justify making a thin-crust pizza should take, but the view of the lake was beautiful so we waited patiently (or we tried). When the pizza was finally brought to the table, it was visually pleasing, though there was a lot of grease and when I took a slice, the bright orange liquid dripped in large quantities onto my plate. The taste was decent. I enjoyed the smokiness of the chicken and I really liked the use of cornmeal for the bottom of the crust. It was actually my favorite aspect of the pie, as it added a nice texture and ensured that the pizza was crispy and baked evenly. Nevertheless, I wish it wasn't so greasy, because spending a minute or two per slice to drip off the grease is kind of unappealing. Lastly, I have to make a comment regarding the cleanliness of the space. When we first arrived to Benji and Jake's, we asked to be seated on the upper level because of the great view of the waterfront. It was perfect weather outside and the inside of the restaurant was incredibly warm. However I was disappointed to see that the tables in our area (and we could have picked any of them, we were the only ones up there) showed no signs of recent maintenance.. and I mean within the past decade or so. We picked the cleanest table, which wasn't wiped down and everything was covered in cobwebs and spiderwebs, along with several resident spiders who joined us for dinner. Just for that, I had to dock this place two stars, simply because it's unacceptable to allow customers to eat their dinner if you don't plan on maintaining the cleanliness of the seating area.

I really thought this place would have more stars. Who doesn't love delicious food, OUTSTANDING service and a beautiful view? This pizza joint is great! Owned and operated by 2 local hipster bros that both greeted us and asked if we needed anything. I love that! We ordered 2 small pies and the waffle fries. The beer selection is definitely my favorite in the surrounding restaurants. We had the Drunken Chef (we added chicken) and the TRex pies. The T-Rex was far superior in taste. The Drunken Chef, the chicken was foul. But seriously, the shredded chicken was not good. It left a weird after taste in our mouths. We promptly let our waitress know and she rectified it, immediately. The pizza crust was thin and crispy, seasoned well and what I expect out of wood fired pizza. It's not NYC pies, this is artisan pizza. So don't expect big floppy slices. Expect a low-key meal on the lake with a smile.

I happened to visit this location twice last week. Once for lunch and a second time after a concert at Woodstock at the Beer Garden. Me and my friends came in for lunch around 2 or 3pm and were seated almost immediately. I suppose we got lucky that two tables inside had just cleared because this place was quite busy for it's location way out in White Lake. We sat down to an amazing view of the lake. It was gorgeous. Sparkling water all around. We noticed that they had boat docks for customers to come to the store via boat, genius! The menu's had real charm. Made from wood with hinges and the symbol of a peel charred into them. The menu was small but had some decent variety. We were not disappointed by the pizza's we tried. They were excellent and tasty. I can't remember which two we had but we were pretty damned satisfied. My friends were very happy with the beer selection as well. I enjoyed the service, all the waiters and waitresses were smiling despite being in a rush to cover all the tables. Despite the place being busy it didn't feel like we waited too long for our food considering how long it takes to make each pizza. We had some Gelato too and one of us had the secret desert slice. Wow it looked delicious! The sorbet menu apparently changes hourly so watch out! Later in the evening we came back to the Beer Garden they had outside. It was 2 am and the place was busy with a crackling fire, lakeside seating, benches and music. There was a full bar open upstairs. I was a bit disappointing that you couldn't order food at the Beer Garden, but then I saw someone bringing pizza to a table. I asked them if I could order from them instead of going upstairs and he told me to come inside he'd take my order. It was then my friend told me I had just met the owner. I was really impressed. The owner of the business, I think it was Jake, is out making pizza and delivering it personally to patrons outside at the Beer Garden at 2am! Wow, that's devotion and dedication to your customers. The pizza, even at 2am was awesome. The service was great. I do hope he hires some help for those busy hours after woodstock concerts but otherwise I strongly recommend this place to everyone.

Okay, I hate to drop a star on this place, but we had some pretty terrible service last night and a looooong wait for food. Apparently there was some huge pizza order so we couldn't order pizza. On the other hand, we ordered regular entrees and they were fantastic (once we finally got to eat them. It took close to 40 minutes). The roasted 1/2 Murray's chicken came with mixed vegetables and roasted potatoes. The trout came with mixed vegetables and quinoa. Everything was extremely delicious and perfect sharing size for three people - we also had a mixed salad, which was a decent size as well. Despite our inattentive waitress and the huge wait on the food despite being told that entrees would be no problem, the food itself is awesome.

OMG so happy we finally made it here! The pizza was amazing! Very creative menu.....loved the friendly and casual atmosphere. I am happy they will be open longer this season. We will be back!!

It's fantastic seeing young ppl who enjoy their trade. Server, chef are so wonderful and happy. Why shouldn't they! They have some very very tasty food. A must stop by if you are in the area. Cheers!

I can't believe any review that's under 5 star. This place is amazing. I'm vegan and I know everyone hates us but they're so accommodating. Everyone is so friendly and the food is always delicious. I'm always the only vegan in the crowd but everyone else loves the place as much do.

Food was good but service was terrible. Stood at the hostess stand which was cramped in the doorway next to the kitchen area and was in the way of the busy wait staff who all ignored us and told us we were in the way. We finally were acknowledged 15 min later (we waited bc we heard the food was good). Our waitress would check on every table in our area except our and i had to call her over to ask for more water. They came 45 min after we finished the main course to bus the table and i asked for the waitress so we could order some of the delicious looking gelato in the doorway where we stood for so long. She then came and brought us the check and i had to explain we'd like to order dessert. The food was quite tasty but the service was terrible. Not sure if we will be back. Maybe better to order take out here.

First time back since Covid. As always the pizzas are one of a kind and delicious. Very busy (because it's good!) so be patient with servers who are polite. Most importantly, not a single vampire in sight! Enjoy your meal without wondering if you will be consumed by an unholy darkness and transformed into a minion of the night!
