Google
The slices of pizza (3 tried w/our party: cheese; pepperoni; sausage)-were made with an incredibly thin and flaky crust and when dipped in their specialty sauces, it’s a meal on its own. I just kept eating this huge slice as if I was never going to have another chance! The negative is the lack of circulation/AC and cramped dining spaces, especially when wanting to avoid swarms of bugs in their outdoor seating area. Definitely enjoyed the fresh food and the staff recommendations.

Google
Great pizza that’s available until 2 am which is really nice. Service and atmosphere are about what you expect. The atmosphere at 1 am on the weekend is very uniquely college town.

Danial Nayeri

Google
Great pizza. We went there for a slice at lunch time. I got the jalapeno pepperoni one, which was very tasty. The food came out fresh and the crust was perfect.

Celyne Heck

Google
This is the coolest little pizza place in Virginia Tech where they have pepperoni, cheese, Mac bacon, garlic mushroom and sausage pizza each slice is cooked to order and it is delicious. One slice equals about four pieces of pizza. You cannot go wrong check it out.!!!!

Joey Knapp

Google
Home of The Virginia Slice as big as my forearm! Amazing crust and quality ingredients, pretty fast as well, they only open up in College towns, so the menu is limited to one giant size pizza or slices, a few toppings, and lots of beer/ soda options. As far as I know they are only open in Virginia, but have a ton of spots, don't miss em if you are traveling thru

Google
Great pizza. We stopped in for a slice at lunch time. It wasn’t too busy and the food came out fresh. One slice was plenty! And it tasted great. The bathroom was not clean, but other than that no complaints.

Matt N

Google
Pizza is always killer but the line later at night can be ridiculously long. Watched a bunch of people cut in line but some of them did get kicked out, which was nice. Prices have gone up lately but it's still worth the money

Chip

Google
Good, VERY BIG, NY style slices and whole pies with outdoor seating. Cans and bottles of soda from a cooler. Try Mike's Hot Honey.

Yelp
Best pizza around Cayden and Tanner were amazing behind the front desk. good teamwork

Yelp
This is the first location of a chain, confusingly with each one being named Benny with some other Italian appellation; Marzano is the name of the San Marzano tomatoes that characterize a high quality pizza. The original Benny's has a very college town vibe and is an easy walk from the campus. Unlike the other location I've visited, the menu is even more limited and they don't offer any veggie slices, so I just stopped in for a cheese slice, which if you're wondering if a slice at this price is worth it, this is one massive slice. It has a floppy crust and a very New York-y flavor mix with a slight herbal tang in the sauce and a hint of brown on the crust. There are only a couple of seats inside this little shack, as well as some picnic tables and other areas to eat outside. It's an easy stop and one that I suspect most people in this area make regularly.

Yelp
A little overpriced for a single slice of pizza, but the slice was huge so I guess that makes sense. Overall, it was your typical pizza nothing special besides the size of a slice. The overall vibe was small and kind of chaotic. Lots of ordered happening at once. Not the worst pizza spot. pretty typical.

Yelp
A friend who lives in the Blacksburg area told me this was a must-go before we saw a Virginia Tech basketball game on a Friday night. It's clear this place is a favorite in town and the line was literally out the door when we arrived. Luckily the line moved at an okay speed as people walked out with massive slices (like as large as your head-sized slices) and full pies in boxes almost too wide to make it through the door frame. The flavors are pretty simple, such as cheese, pepperoni, or sausage. They're not trying to reinvent the wheel here. There are picnic benches outside to eat. I can only imagine this is THE late night spot for college kids after being out drinking all evening. I would definitely stop by again.

Yelp
Classic late night eats. Open very late and always manages to hit with their massive pizza slices. Very reasonable slices as well. Not an every night thing but once in a while to satisfy cravings. Food: Pepperoni, Sausage, Cheese pizzas are all massive and will always fill your stomach. Selection of sodas in the fridge as well. Service: Friendly and fast. Ambiance: very small interior, meant to be taken out and eaten Extra: cheap and affordable for the amount of pizza that you get.

Yelp
This place was a surprise. I have been looking for decent pizza since I moved to Virginia. While I can't say this is AMAZING pizza it's a pretty good NY slice and the fact that it's an absolutely ENORMOUS slice is a bonus. The crust is paper thin in the center, it's a wonder it can hold the toppings. The outer edge has a nice crisp and is not too chewy but chewy enough to make a good bite. Dough is ok in flavor, cheese is good and sauce is on the mediocre end for me. The people working are super nice (or at least were the day I was there). This place is just outside of campus so expect a very young crowd. Good place to grab a quick slice when in the area but if it's super busy I don't think I would wait too long for it. Overall, decent slice and fun time.

Roger G.

Yelp
Giant slices. Open late. Much better quality than I expected for what could have just been a gimmick. Walking distance to the VT campus. A good place to go as a student or to take a prospective student.

Laura R.

Yelp
Pizza is amazing! Extra large slices larger than your head. The atmosphere is laid back and definitejy has that late night college crowd vibe to it. We have eaten at two different locations and they don't disappoint at all!
google avatar

Mara M.

Yelp
A Blacksburg classic. If you go there late on a weekend night you can expect a long line out the door. Personally only go there on the weekends after a long night. I recommend adding a side of ranch. Slices are huge.
google avatar

Enzo W.

Yelp
Went on my lunch break the other day. 'Za fresh from the oven--crispy crust, flavorful sauce, gooey cheese. Benny's has never let me down.
google avatar

Melissa V.

Yelp
I wouldn't go here regularly because the pizza isn't the best but after a night out, this shit hits. The vibes of the place are cool but warning there is always a huge line. Personally I think it's overhyped but not bad.
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
My daughter says this is the some of the best pizza in Blacksburg. It's good! You can't beat the price for what you get. The slices are NY style huge! They taste pretty good too.

Joseph G.

Yelp
Best pizza in Blacksburg. Just make sure you have a big enough trunk for the box. B
google avatar

Robert T.

Yelp
Really good Pizza. The size is huge. Most people can only eat one slice. Benny's large equal two normal large pizzas. So when you consider that it is a great value.
google avatar

MP N.

Yelp
A really tasty huge slice of pizza. Benny Marzano's is a must stop in Blacksburg and an absolute bonus is that you're mere steps away from the gorgeous Virginia Tech campus. It's very very casual, picnic tables outside, but none of that matters when you have that slice in your hands
google avatar

Nick H.

Yelp
This is a dangerous zone, people tend to make irrational decisions under influence of alcohols. I got knocked out by one single slice of this calorie & carb bomb, but it was 100% worth it.
google avatar

M M.

Yelp
The best slice in the area hands down! the service is good and the location is a killer next to campus!
google avatar

Brian O.

Yelp
Well where do I begin. We happened upon this place. We were at another restaurant the night before and saw this guy carrying a ridiculously sized pizza box. The next night we wanted some pizza to take back to the hotel for myself, wife and teenage son. The first place we went had calzones only. Started walking and found this place. The folks outside had a slice each only. The slice was a 14 inch slice. We ordered an entire pie. They are 28 inches across. You can choose cheese, pepperoni, veggie, sriracha sausage and ham and pineapple. The dough is probably one of my favorites. I asked a friend who has had two kids go to Tech. She said this place is an icon. I would have to agree. This is must for anyone coming to town.
google avatar

Jack N.

Yelp
Pizza is quite solid, service is speedy but obviously it gets quite busy. One of the best places for a late night bite.
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
The pizza here is EXCELLENT! Best slice around the NRV. The crust is the perfect combination of crispy and chewy and the toppings are very flavorful. The basic slices are always great quality and some of the specialties, like the Tarantino, are a real treat. One oversized slice is a meal by itself. My only complaint with Benny's is that their online order time is never updated based on crowd size or season. No matter when you order for pick-up, it always says it will be a 65-75 minute wait, no matter how busy or slow they might be. That is a little excessive. Still though, it is the best slice around.
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
I came to check out what all the rave was about. Overall, $4 for a slice of cheese pizza was filling as a lunch. I'm from New York and the pizza here was thinner than it is in NY. The sauce was spot on and you can taste the high quality of the cheese. It was as hot as a sauna in this place. I don't think there's any type of A/C in here. Street parking was a nightmare but if you do find a spot, make sure to bring a quarter for 15 minutes of parking!

T. M.

Yelp
Look, I'm going to be brutally honest here. This is an extremely middle of the road pizza. There are people claiming in reviews that it is similar to NY style pizza. As someone from that area, not only is that wrong, but it's insulting. It's not close. Quality at Benny's is not always consistent, and I wouldn't categorize the pizza as "great" like many try to. It's one of the better options in this area, but don't come here expecting "great" or "amazing" pizza, it's important to temper your expectations. The quality can be inconsistent enough that there are even points I would categorize it as bad. One note I feel is important to add, as other reviewers don't seem to understand this: Just because a pizza is bigger ABSOLUTELY does not mean it is "NY pizza". Bigger pizza does not just equal good pizza either. If I could give this place 2.5 stars I would, because its not good enough to be 3, but not bad enough to be 2 stars either.
google avatar

Casey S.

Yelp
Benny's is the famous pizza chain known for its gigantic slices and 28" pies. The Blacksburg location is conveniently located downtown and close to the weekend farmer's market, making it a good option for a quick casual lunch or late-night snack. It's location here is small and unassuming, and simple to keep with the relatively straightforward menu: $4 for a slice of cheese (bigger than my entire upper body), $5 for sausage, pepperoni, and the specialty slice of the month. Cheese is melty, flavorful, and the crust is crisp and fresh. Waiting time can get long at busy hours, so come at an off time or prepared to wait a bit! Definitely worth the extra time.
google avatar

Sheree M.

Yelp
I love this pizzeria! Order from here whenever treating my student workers to lunch! They love it and best way to feed 6 students for $36!!!

FL F.

Yelp
Okay, if you're lookin for a fancy place with coal or wood fired pizza and gourmet toppings run the opposite direction. But..if you want a crazy good slice of oversized gumba deliciousness, Welcome. So if you believe the story from the website, Benny like my grandfather was a Sicilian immigrant who was the cook at his gun/hunting club. And do you know how to keep a job like that, where your customers all have guns and are there to kill stuff? Cook delicious food for them. I only wish they had a couple more options on the menu, like killer chicken parm and or garlic bread. But if it Amit broke...keep slinging those oversized wedges of piezano heaven.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
I can't quite put my finger on it, but this pizza just doesn't taste good. Giant veggie slice with roasted pepper and chopped garlic but probably from a big jar of preserved chopped garlic. Cheap ingredients, maybe? I just expected better with so many stars.
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
Benny's is great if you want a quick, cheap slice downtown. There's always a veg option as well as plain cheese. I don't like their pizza enough that I'd order it from home. There's nothing remarkable about any of the components, and the pizza is very thin. It's not a great place to eat inside with others. But if you have five bucks and want to grab a very large slice of pizza? Go for it.
google avatar

Yelp
Benny's is great for: - Late night munchies - Fulfilling your pizza fix - Casual, fun dining The downtown Benny's location is quaint and homey. It is not huge, so when there's a large line (Friday, Saturday nights, etc.), it'll likely stretch out the doorway. It always moves pretty fast though. Inside, there's a chalkboard menu, and a counter where you can pay and order. Benny's is simple: you pay $4 - $5 (an extra $0.50 or $1 for toppings/sauces, like ranch, sausage, pepperoni, etc.) for a BIG, thin slice of delicious pizza, that comes out almost right away. It is more than enough to fill the average person, and is much tastier than pizza you could buy at any fast food chain. There are dispensers of Parmesan, hot sauce, and red pepper flakes on the counter, and picnic-style wooden tables outside to eat on. The staff is friendly, and the pizza is hot. What more could you ask for? Because it stays open so late, it is a popular destination for Virginia Tech students to visit after a night out. I have only ever had positive experiences at Benny's. It's not the best pizza you'll ever have (it doesn't stand up to your quintessential New York slice), but in Blacksburg, it comes pretty darn close. I have seen complaints about this or that, but in my eyes, you really do get what you pay for. You come to Benny's for quick, tasty pizza, and that is always what you will receive. Benny's is definitely worth trying for anyone coming through Blacksburg! If you're worried about a line, maybe try going to the Benny's Delivery location (near The Edge). If you are planning on ordering a whole pizza, call way in advance! It takes a decent amount of time.

Yelp
The food is good for late nights when you want a cheap meal, but to be honest, it's dirty here. On two separate occasions I have had a hair baked into my pizza and a lot of times, the cooks aren't wearing gloves. The kitchen doesn't look that clean either, and I think they prioritize speed and don't clean it very often. I used to come here because it's a VT tradition, but it's unappetizing to see them work and I no longer want to eat here.
google avatar

Jeremy B.

Yelp
We stopped here and ordered a pie to go after my son's football camp at VT. This is some of the best pizza I've ever had. HUGE is an understatement. We ordered the sausage and it was delicious. I was only able to eat two slices because they're ginormous. I wouldn't recommend buying a whole pizza unless you have at least 4 people or want to eat on it for a few days though. But if you're in the area I highly recommend. Oh and BTW, David Portnoy gave them an 8.5 which is awesome.

D R.

Yelp
Eat at this place each time I visit my son in Blacksburg. Never had a bad experience and the pizza is always hot and fresh.
google avatar

Taylor D.

Yelp
Pizza is always better when it's the size of your face. I am always excited to visit Benny's. I love seeing the giant pizzas in the oven and one day I hope to purchase the whole pizza. I will admit the crust is not great, but I never really eat the crust because the rest of my slice fills me up before I get there. It may not be the best pizza you'll taste, but its definitely the best I've had in the giant pizza category. To be fair though I have only been to one other place that sold pizza this big. I definitely recommend checking this place out. Its a good pizza experience :)

Yelp
Throughout my four years at Virginia Tech, no boy had my heart like Benny Marzano did. Food (7/10): Benny's kept it simple with only cheese or pepperoni (they sometimes had random "special" pizza toppings). That being said, what they did, they did WELL. Benny's large slice was perfect for all times of day and night, sober or not. Perfect sauce to cheese ratio and some of the best dough/crust I could ask for. Benny's also offers the best garnishes, like oregano, hot sauce, or (if you like to keep it classic) some parmesan. Atmosphere (6/10): Right off the heart of Main Street, Benny's is in the perfect location (especially if you are trying to grab a slice on your way home from a fun time out on Main Street). Benny's offers simple, but old school wooden high tops and bar type seating inside as well as wooden picnic benches outside. It is casual but very college-campus vibes. Service (6/10): Friendly and helpful. While there isn't much for the cashiers/pizza makers to do to enhance the service, I will say it's also nothing super special. There is often a long line out the door during peak hours and the staff certainly do their best to keep it moving fast.
google avatar

Kimberly F.

Yelp
What's a staple to a VT College student will become one for you too. Ginormous slices that you won't have room for two on. Basic, good pizza in a hole in the wall spot with college students out the Yang. If you're not in the mood to listen to loud obnoxious drunk students, stay away on Friday and Saturday nights after 7.
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
So good! Th pizza slices are massive and well crafted. We had a mix up with a to go order and the staff was gracious to fix it last minute. Will definitely get some more slices soon!

F. B.

Yelp
Few places offer food as good as advertised. I loved the taste, the quality and a few good natured guys working inside. Transporting a nearly 30 inch pizza requires some imagination even with a large door opening. Regardless, great pizza!!!
google avatar

Katarina S.

Yelp
Favorite drunchie. The line gets long already after 1:20ish am but it's totally worth the wait. Huge, tasty, greasy, salty, and cheap slices. They have specials throughout the day but only cheese and pepperoni late at night. Definitely a must. They will need to work on stopping people from cutting the line though. It hasn't been an issue in the 4-5 years while we were students but we were surprised to see it last night (we come back to town 1-2 times a year). Times change.
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
Great pizza. Huge slices. Go to for late night. If you like New York style pizza this is your place. Small amount of community tables but really this is more of takeout place. There are also some outside picnic tables.
google avatar

Thomas N.

Yelp
If your ever out in down town Blacksburg and your hungry Benny's is a great place to grab a quick bite to eat! Now Benny's is well known in Blacksburg for having huge slices, the best part, these slices are not very expensive so it is great as a late night snack. The menu for Benny's has a nice balance of classics and specials. They always sell cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza and sausage pizza. However, every month they come out with two special pizza's which most people don't know about. This month for October 2018 they had mac and cheese pizza, and a chicken bacon ranch pizza. I absolutely love mac and cheese so I had to try it out! Ordering is pretty standard at Benny's you just walk up to the counter and say what you want. The price on the board is tax included, so the mac and cheese pizza came out $5 even. It took a little longer than usual for this pizza, but once it came out I was excited. All of Benny's pizza slices are large, so I already know I was going to be full after 1 slice. As I went in for the bite, it tasted exactly as it sounded. It tasted like you topped pizza off with mac and cheese, but what threw me off was the quality of mac and cheese. It tasted like legitimate mac and cheese I would get at a bbq which was good. The mac and cheese also had some green vegetables (green onion or chives not sure), which provided nice color contrast for the pizza. Overall, you can't really go wrong with Benny's pizza. I know sometimes at night they don't sell their specialty pizza slices, but their classic pizza slices are also very good. The only thing is Benny's pizza crust does not taste very good to me, since it just taste like straight dough. I'm a person who is a fan of crust, just Benny's pizza crust is not my forte. However, the crust is a small portion of the pizza, so you will still get full and enjoy a majority of your pizza.
google avatar

Nikita T.

Yelp
I'm going to be VERY honest when I say that I'm not as huge of a Benny's fan as the average Virginia Tech student, but it's still one of the best late night food options in the area. For $4 you can get a slice of NY style pizza that's bigger than your head--an additional 50 cents for garlic sauce or ranch and $5 for a slice of pepperoni. These are obviously limited options but they are the classics. What I love about Benny's is how fresh it always tastes and how good the cheese and sauce are, and the extra 50 cents for the garlic sauce is absolutely worth it. Be warned, though, the lines can be INSANE at night so be prepared to wait for quite a while anytime after 1am.
google avatar

Gordie F.

Yelp
One of the best pizzas I've ever had .... Crust was next level ... don't buy into the negative reviews .... This is not a Five star resort for wealthy turd nuggets ... just a bunch of passionate metal heads making awesome mind blowing pizza ...
google avatar

Lucas B.

Yelp
Benny's is a thing of Legend in Blacksburg. I've only gotten it after a night out (Probably 10+ times during my Junior and Senior years) but it has ALWAYS hits the spot. It makes me sad I'm in Arlington now because Jumbo Slice is a joke and makes me miss Benny's that much more. Is the line way too long? Yes. Is it way too late to be eating a gigantic slice of pizza? Yes. Is it worth it to stay in line way too late to eat a gigantic slice of pizza? Check and check. Benny's is open super late on all going-out days around DT blacksburg and won't run you more than a few bucks when you finally get through the line. Do it. You won't find a better late night slice than this.
google avatar

Shawn K.

Yelp
Benny's was my pick for best pizza in the New River Valley. But they have fell. I think they changed something or the employees aren't following the recipes. Still better than the chains. But is no where near Sals or Sals JR in Fairlawn. Go to Sals JR if you got time.
google avatar

Jacquelyn P.

Yelp
Anytime I unwillingly follow my friends here after a night out I am a little sour, because the pizza is just bad and they know it's bad and yet here we are again!! Like I know it's -supposed- to be a dive and that's part of the *magic* but Benny's, can you keep your beverage fridges cold at least? Lukewarm root beer isn't pleasant when you're drunk or sober. I'm being a bit harsh though, because Benny's isn't really about quality, it's more of an experience. Standing in line at 1 AM for a bread-y, foot-long triangle of dry, burnt cheese (particle board?) is a rite of passage at Tech, so do it, but if you go here unironically during the daytime I assume you enjoy the taste of sawdust and hand sweat from the college kid tossing the dough in the back.

Todd B.

Yelp
Best pizza in Bburg!!! A must eat while in town. Rustic hole in the wall dive. Looks are deceiving.!!
google avatar

Mel M.

Yelp
I visited Benny Marzano's on a recent trip to BBurg. My mom and I stopped in for a slice at around 5pm. The place was empty since it was summer break...so, no waiting. We had the place to ourselves which was good since it is the size of a shoebox. There is no air conditioning but who would want to eat inside when you can eat outside at the broken down picnic tables with the trash, birds, and bugs! I got a huge slice of re-heated pizza for $4 and a luke warm coke for $1. Perhaps they charge extra to make a hot/ fresh pizza...but I wouldn't know since the cashier barely acknowledged our presence. When I handed her cash, she looked at me like I had 3 heads. None of the 3 people working said 'thank you' or anything for that matter. What a shame...
google avatar

Eden R.

Yelp
Definitely a Blacksburg staple. Huge pizzas that don't fit through some doorways. Will take up the whole back seat of an SUV; plan ahead. The taste of the pizza itself is just so-so.

Tina C.

Yelp
The pizza is great. Our family loves to get the giant pizza. It is always a treat for the family.
google avatar

Richard B.

Yelp
One slice is like an 8 inch pizza. Not bad. Not bad. Bathroom needs some serious attention. Staff were pretty nice. I guess it's just a college pizza joint. Not for families to eat in. Overall is pretty good pizza but more of a novelty I'd say.
