"On the way down we stopped at Benson Donuts (in the town of Benson, naturally). It’s a no-frills donut shop — kind of in the middle of nowhere. If you go, be sure to grab a glazed donut or one of their apple fritters."

Best donuts in town! The cinnamon rolls are huge, by far the most delicious donuts I've had in a long time! Loved the variety, had to get more than one. Staff is friendly, seating available inside the shop, and lots of parking . I'm definitely adding this place to my " favorite " list. Thank you for hooking it up!!!!

Google
Read reviews and needed to try this place. I LOVE donuts. Everywhere I travel I look for and go to the local donut places. This morning it was quiet but there was only a small selection of donuts. I purchased 2 glaze, a lemon filled and the yummiest cream filled donut. All 4 were delicious but the cream filled was by far the best.

Despite arriving around midday when selections were more limited, Benson's donuts did not disappoint. Each member of our family still found a donut to suit their tastes. What sets these donuts apart is their remarkably light, airy texture. Such a satisfying treat that leaves you feeling pleasantly indulged rather than weighed down. Well worth stopping off in Benson for!

Google
Just moved to this location and had to try Benson donuts because everybody says their donuts are fantastic. I purchased three donuts and literally wolf them down within minutes. Donuts were delicious. Service was friendly. Definitely a small town atmosphere which is definitely what I'm looking for. Highly recommend.! 🤗

Love this place! The owner is awesome! Donuts are delicious! Price is better than going anywhere else❤️

Google
I finally decided to make the drive from Tombstone, AZ to see if they lived up to the hype...they didn't. After a 25 minute drive, I expected more than mediocre, barely filled donuts that went stale within 24 hours. They were good, but for the almost $50 I paid for 2 dozen donuts, they should last, have some filling and not be greasy. The fritters tasted like apple, but didn't actually have any fruit in them. All the filled donuts had maybe one bite of filling in them. The atmosphere was kind of dirty and the lady was nice, yet annoyed I was getting more then one donut.

Google
Bensons very own. Without a doubt Way Better than most. Had an euphoria of Delicious donuts made from scratch couldn't get better prices were great as well. Had good coffee very straight forward and courteous. Got two chocolate long johns three chocolate covered with cream filling. The coffee was bold and rich with flavor. Sugar and cream to personal preference. The donuts were crispy. Light delicate soft dough and you can tell that it is risen overnight bold delicious flavors with butter flavor is rich. Definitely worth the price and taking time to stop. Apple fritters were bursting without a doubt. Cinnamon rolls are also yummy. What can I say it was delicious. And well laid out. It was without a doubt an experience.

Google
This place has to be the absolute best donuts shop in the world! I know I'm probably overstating because I have not been all over the world to try a donut but this place is the bomb! If you don't get there early, you probably will not get your special liking. They sell out quickly. I do not know the woman's name that works there and and is co-owner but she is very nice. Very helpful.

Yelp
We come in whenever we drive through Benson. Unfortunately, covid lockdowns destroyed things like prices. What used to be a $12 dozen is now pushing $20, but this woman knows her donuts and they are one it the best shops in Southern AZ.

Yelp
We were craving a doughnut before we hit Kartchner caverns and ran into Benson to grab a donut at Benson donuts. It's one of those places when you walk in the door everybody's local they all stop talking and turn around and look at you but that's not necessarily a bad thing everyone was super friendly. The Asian woman who owns the donut shop does not speak much English but her donuts are incredible she was out of the plain glaze so I just had a glazed twist and it was really delicious so often moist inside and crunchy Glazy outside. My husband had his go to maple bar which he thought was delicious. I really solid little local donut shop if you're in the area of pop on by and give them some business he won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Got an old-fashioned glaze, donut. Very good. It's hard to find good donuts. That tastes great and homemade. I think it's better than Safeway donuts. They're open five am 5 p m seven days a week. They only take cash. There dozens under thirteen dollars

Yelp
Worth the visit!! The donuts are wonderful... As a former public safety professional with many years of varied "donut" experience, I am uniquely qualified to provide an insightful opinion regarding the topic of donuts... The options at Benson Donuts are plentiful and expertly prepared. Even apple fritter connoisseurs will standup & celebrate when they get a taste of their favorite donut at this establishment. Always added confirmation of quality when locals fill the lobby like they do at Benson Donuts. The location is owner run & she provides very friendly service... These donuts are Cop approved! Pro-Tip: Their ham/cheese croissants are delightful as well...

Yelp
I am updating my middle review that had a 1 star because it was during the time that the shop was closed. Owner was having a medical emergency and I was upset to drive an hour to find the place closed. If'n you want the best donuts in AZ then this little unassuming place is THE place! Yelp on!
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
First day in Benson we stopped to check it out, and I'm glad we did! The apple fritters were delicious! Even toward the end of business hours, the woman was friendly and happy to help. Can never go wrong with a donut!
google avatar

Yelp
Quality beyond measure. We ate pastry connoisseurs and we have never had better. Very tiny place, just off the highway. First exit off I10 coming from the west. We read the Apple Fritters we're the best. We thought they were superior but other things were even better. Very pleasant woman serves you up We will stop anytime we are in the area. First stop was early afternoon and shelves were almost empty. These photos are from 9 am.

Yelp
Stopped for some gas. Un-lovely area with lovely people and a fantastic donut shop. Old-fashioned, cake and an apple fritter. I am known to only eat the crusty edges on fritters and everything was Delicious! Just say yes please ;-)

Yelp
In a small unassuming building just off the freeway, you will find some of the best donuts within a 200 mile range. The ham and cheese croissants are to die for, and the ingredients are certainly fresh. This little shop certainly earns it's five star ratings and the constant flow of locals getting their sugar fix on is a testament to their awesomeness.

Yelp
The donuts here are amazing! The buttermilk bars are tender crisp on the outside and soft on the inside! We tried the filled donuts and to be honest the donut filling was meh, but the rest? If they have unfilled (same shape as filled) I would devour them! They are better than Krispy Kreme glazed. They do remind me of those but with more surface for the very slight crisp and crackle of the glaze and not to mention the soft fluffy inside! Definitely a place I'll stop by again and again!

Rick G.

Yelp
Excellent ham and cheese croissants $3.29, and apple fritters too $1.99. A lot of amazing choices for donuts And cinnamon rolls.

Yelp
We've heard about Benson donuts, so we had to stop here while driving through the area. I was a little worried about the donuts living up to all the rave reviews, and I'm happy to report that they stood up! These donuts are divine! They are light and fluffy, and so delicious. The old fashioned glazed was probably my favorite- very light compared to many, perfect crisp edges, lightly glazed but not too much. Perfection! I love apple fritters, but can be picky about them. This one was superb. Lots of apple, plenty of the crispy pieces... I think there may have been a little coconut in it? Unique and delicious. I will definitely be coming here again when I visit my in-laws

Shanon S.

Yelp
The buttermilk donut and blueberry donut are my favorites but they are all amazing!! Great customer service as well!! I always love passing through Benson so that we can stop and get donuts!! It's a must!!
google avatar

Chrissa L.

Yelp
Disappointed for the third time ! Not going back. I support Mom&Pop places BUT the mom is not friendly and acts as if she doesn't speak English. We ordered 6 chocolate topped creme-filled donuts. They tasted stale and the creme was bland! The chocolate glaze color was light brown as if it hanbeen thinned! We have had better donuts from Wal-mart and Circle K.
google avatar

Yelp
Yes, this a little off the beaten path in Benson but not far. Yes, the sign has been refreshed with spray paint. Yes, there are some random things inside including a Halloween decoration in March (which I don't mind -- my favorite holiday). But the donuts are AMAZING - so light and delicious. And the lady behind the counter was very sweet. Definitely worth a visit!
google avatar

Linda S.

Yelp
I was a little skeptical when we drove on the lot. Older building with a spray painted sign. But I'm giving this spot a solid 5 star review. Plenty of donut types to choose from and everything was fresh and delicious. We would stop again if we are back in the area.

Yelp
What a fun hidden gem! I found Benson Donuts on Yelp. I definitely would've otherwise driven past because it is VERY unassuming on the outside. The door was open and the open sign was lit, so we ventured on in. Everything is very reasonably priced and was delicious. We had donut holes, an Apple fritter, a blueberry donut, and a cinnamon roll. All over the course of the long Memorial Day weekend. HIGHLY recommend the cinnamon roll. Minimal mess and was super yummy. Everything was great. 100% will go back the next time we are passing through Benson!
google avatar

Steve D.

Yelp
First rate donuts in a tiny town. We had a cinnamon bun, apple fritter and plain glazed, all outstanding. Apple fritter was crunchy on the outside, moist and tangy inside, and still warm. A spontaneous stop while stopping for gas at the neighboring Chevron, and would definitely stop again if we ever find ourselves on the road through here again.

Yelp
Doesn't look like much, but this place has really good donuts! Travelling from Las Cruces to SoCal and got off I-10 to get gas. Somewhat run down donut place right next door with some young ladies taking selfies, so wife and I decided to try it. Guy Fieri type place Two local couples inside talking. Good sign. Another couple enjoying their donuts. We waited to be helped and didn't realize that the owner, May, was sitting on a short stool somewhat hidden behind the donut display. The donuts are large, soft and good inside, with just the tiniest bit of soft crunch to them as you bite in. Some of the very best donuts we've had travelling around the nation. Is now a regular stop everytime we pass through Benson.

Yelp
Love this place - it's right off interstate so I take the Ocotillo exit, turn left, and I have a dozen homemade absolutely amazingly light and fresh, slightly crispy donuts to take for friends to Tucson every time. I've even stopped to get a plain cake donut and coffee just for me. They are that good. The lady who owns the business is always there, always happy to see me. If you're craving donuts, or you're a donut aficionado - you better stop. Chocolate glazed, raspberry and blueberry filled, cake donuts with chocolate frosting / vanilla icing and sprinkles, chocolate coconut, cream filled, blueberry buttermilk. Oh my!
google avatar

Katie V.

Yelp
Best Boston Cream donut! The owner is super nice and makes everything from scratch. I will always go out of my way to make a pit stop here
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
Nondescript exterior - came here on basis of rave reviews, which we found well deserved. Ham and cheese croissant, apple fritter, both impossibly light. Price for the two = under $6

Dustin T.

Yelp
Fine quality, good service, lived up to good reviews. You're not here for the ambience. Check it out.
google avatar

Bruce M.

Yelp
Dated exterior belies a baker's passion for baking delicious anytime sweet deliciousness. Huge selection, all beautifully and carefully made and decorated, the textures are perfect, the flavors richly satisfying, fresh in every way. Maybe a little funky inside and out, when it comes to donuts they have this donut making thing down.
google avatar

Grace P.

Yelp
AMAZING DONUTS and I am not even really a donut person. I've tried the apple fritter, buttermilk donut, and a few other donuts. Everything tasted good, especially the apple fritter, which has a great balance of texture and apple flavor. Affordable prices and better than those in major cities like Tucson. This is a must- stop destination every time that I pass through the area between Tucson and Bisbee.
google avatar

Heather D.

Yelp
We are on a road trip and I was craving donuts from a legit place. (I hate Krispy Kreme.) Benson came up in Yelp just in time for us to exit the highway. While the outside looks a bit iffy, the donuts were excellent and exactly what I was looking for. The apple fritter was phenomenal and the buttermilk and the glazed were excellent too.

Tressa B.

Yelp
Hole in the wall totally random and totally delicious definitely worth a stop. Perfect location right off the freeway

Joseph M.

Yelp
Great dough nuts. 17 years and going strong. Nice mom n pop place. Stop in say hi. I always like to patronize the little out-of-the-way shops that I happen to see. You can always go to a McDonald's or a Taco Bell or a Subway when you're at home. These little kinds of shops are what make road trips memorable.

Trixie S.

Yelp
One of the best donuts have I ever eaten. Got a Boston Cream donut. Creme was dense and not overly sweet and donut was crispy on the outside and soft inside. Absolutely amazing.
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
My husband talks about the cinnamon rolls from here constantly and I finally told him he needed to bring me back one the next time he works out here. I now know exactly what he was talking about! The cinnamon roll is incredible! It's huge and light and fluffy and tastes like a Krispy Kreme donut on crack. Seriously, it was so good and not like anything I've had before. It's not like a traditional cinnamon roll at all - it doesn't have cream cheese icing so when I first saw it I thought it would be bland; but it was amazing! Now my husband will have to bring some home every-time he works!
google avatar

Frank H.

Yelp
Donuts very light and fresh. The store is clean and the Asian lady running the store is very friendly. This little donut store on the side of interstate 10 had a home and family feel to it. I had been craving donuts for over a week, but never say them at the right time on this trip. Give this place a try to help out with a sugar craving. I had an apple fritter and a cinnamon roll. Both were large and well made, the apple fritter lasted until the afternoon, seriously large....

Alex M.

Yelp
I'm a touring concert photographer and just happened to come by this little spot on tour. My whole crew took bets on whether it was even really open or not. We were so blown away by how good it was! This is my first review I've ever left. This place is well worth it and possibly the best donuts I've ever had
google avatar

Charlie R.

Yelp
Donuts still good at $10 a dozen, they do have tables to sit and eat. But no one was social distancing and no one was wearing a mask not even the owner. Store is little and yesterday they had more than 10 people at the tables with many more coming in to get donuts. People sitting in booths together. This review not for the taste of donuts but rather for refusal to follow common sense and keep people healthy.
google avatar

Dee P.

Yelp
Saw the reviews while staying at a nearby hotel so decided to try it. Small family bakery wedged between a gas station and shuttered grocery. Group of locals were enjoying coffee and donuts. Owner was working the counter and seemed to be the only employee. Plenty to choose from as the display was well stocked. Apple fritters were huge and light and fluffy. Also picked up a cake donut with chocolate icing that was very fresh. Brought home a lemon filled Jelly donut for my son that I might try before he does. Ordered a large coffee for the road and it filled my travel mug and then some. Worth making the stop.
google avatar

Brent P.

Yelp
The mother-in-law lives in Willcox and when she comes to visit, she will often stop here and pick up a dozen. Pretty much everything I have tried from here has been incredible - glazed, apple fritters, chocolate frosted, powdered sugar, eclairs, etc. It has that extra element of delicious that separates the good donuts from the fantastic ones. I'm not sure if its the taro they use or what exactly, but this place beats anything I've had in Tucson. First class joint.
google avatar

Max G.

Yelp
Best donut I've ever had ..period! Made fresh and with perfect craftsmanship that rare today, even at much higher prices. FYI, I had the cream filled glazed.
google avatar

Kendall B.

Yelp
"As you ramble on through life folks whatever be your goal keep your eye upon the doughnut and not upon the hole" Best doughnuts I've ever tasted! The apple fritters are the best. Amazing moist doughnuts and sweet homey feel, it's a great dive. Dedicated owner. Even if you're not a normal doughnut eater, it's worth it! Best in AZ.
google avatar

Kyle D.

Yelp
Easily the best apple fritter I've ever had. Stop on by and try what they have to offer. You won't regret it.
google avatar

Wil P.

Yelp
Tiny little place right off the freeway. Enjoyed a fresh, delicious glazed donut and a fresh and wonderfully strong small(more like a medium)cup of coffee for less than $3.00. Constant stream of locals coming in and out can only mean one thing. Must try!
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
Best donuts ever had been on the road for like 15 hours when I saw this place pop up on my gps and decided to stop by. I would literally go back home tomorrow from California to Texas just to stop at this place again
google avatar

Leah M.

Yelp
Wow, great donuts!! Light, fluffy ones were just that and the cake donuts like buttermilk were just the right amount of dense. We will be back!
google avatar

Brandi C.

Yelp
Have been in the area for about a month and a half now, and just finally popped in to this gem! Had a plain glazed, a lemon filled and a chocolate custard filled (also got a ham and cheese croissant but am saving it for a savory moment - later). The lemon was a tad bit artificial, and that's to be expected, but it wasn't my favorite. The other two were perfect! Glad we finally made it in, but afraid because it's so close to home now :) Haha
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
Ok on the road and the wife has been wanting a donut since I blew through El Paso and past the Krispy Kreme. She and I are glad we did. Home made, large, fresh, and great prices. Small little shop loaded with locals solving the worlds problems...
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
I was so excited to find this little locally owned donut shop, however it turned out to be disappointing. I don't know what they fry the donuts in but they didn't have that donut taste. The donuts I tried were the glazed, which weren't glazed, maple and they definitely weren't maple. I wouldn't recommend, customer service was a bit lacking as well.

Ab U.

Yelp
A donut place worth stopping for. From kids to grandma we all raved, these were the best donuts we have ever had. My mom got an apple fritter, I got a long john, husband got double chocolate. We loved it. This place could be a destination! (Sorry no pics, we ate too quickly!)

C B.

Yelp
Apple fritters were huge and super good. We could have shared one, but as it was we just ate half one day and half the next. Great find.

G S.

Yelp
Out for a visit to Sierra Vista from CT so I did my homework and knew i needed to stop and sample Benson donuts first. Although the selection was low by early afternoon, these donuts were some of the best I've had in a while. Especially the apple fritter. Yelp comes through again!
google avatar

Dan C.

Yelp
OMGoodness! We stop here every chance we get. Amazing homemade donuts, no bells and whistles, just melt in your mouth yummyliscousness, get there early for the Fritters they go super fast! Mon-Sat 5 am - 6 pm and Sunday 5 am - 3 pm. Just off I-10 in Benson AZ, truckers can find easy parking within 100 yards. Just do it!!! Trust me, you will not be sorry you stopped at this great spot. Tell them Dan C. sent you.
google avatar

Monica F.

Yelp
Don't let the humble exterior fool you and DON'T spend your money at a grocery chain, when there are donuts this good, this unique and super affordable in town. Friendly service, lots of variety, affordable and absolutely DELICIOUS! Who could ask for more?
