We seek out and start with only high quality Arabican green coffee beans and carefully roast them to perfection. We only source our coffee from people who are dedicated to taking an active role in all aspects of high quality coffee. By working closely with farmers and coffee cooperatives to improve techniques, share information and equipment, the quality of coffee becomes much better and benefits both the farmers and the coffee drinker. We seek out Fair Trade and organic coffees and carry them as much as possible. We are open six days a week and roast amazing coffees everyday.

"Bent Tree roasts and distributes the local standard for quality coffee. They’ll serve you a cup in their storefront, but you can sample their product almost anywhere coffee is served in Kent (marked with a “Proudly Serving Bent Tree Fine Coffees” sign). Bent Tree roasts their beans in-house and is extremely knowledgeable about each coffee they sell and the different brewing processes. They have merch as well, which you’ll want to sport proudly." - Each + Every

Stopped in on a local place in OH, Bent Tree Coffee Roasters. The smell in this place was magical. The atmosphere really chill. The coffee... delicious. I usually don't order flavored lattes but tried their lavender latte and...wow, this drink really embodied this roaster. Staff were super friendly. Grabbed these beans and I can't wait to grind em' up for a brew. If you're in the area, these guys are a must try.

Google
First time stopping in at the shop here. Me and the wife were out and about and decided to try this nice little coffee shop. Plenty of parking inside is really nice . They have my favorite flavor which is orange. The reason for 4 stars is I like a frozen drink not just iced. They do not offer frozen. But the stink we got were super good. We will def be back.

Google
unfortunately this was the worst cappuccino i have ever had 💔 it lacked in every area. it was too hot, no microfoam, flavor of espresso was bitter had no tasting notes/flavor. Barista didn’t ask if i was taking it for here or to go, so unfortunately i got the drink in a paper cup. The photo of the drink is before i even had a sip. no latte art. no care given into making a something they are proud of, i assume this is why they automatically put my drink in a to go cup dining area is small and there’s tons of people in and out that are working, roasting, and customers grabbing coffee. the energy is lively! it’s nice it was super busy! i’m hoping they can figure out how to roast better coffee and train their baristas!!!! really enjoyed all of the plants/propogations 🌱

Google
Everything about Bent Tree is fantastic. The coffee is perfect, great, knowledgeable staff, super nice owners. BT is a real gift for Kent and for coffee lovers everywhere....they ship too!

Google
This is my hubs favorite coffee shop in Kent. We recommend the lavender latte, the triple C (coconut, Carmel, cookie), and orange lavender latte. If you aren’t doing a specialty drink, the coffee is pretty acidic so I wasn’t crazy about my vanilla americano. There are a few food choices such as tofu with noodles, bagels, cookies, cake pops, etc. If I go back I would order a specialty drink.

Google
The coffee's great.. for whatever reason I'm totally hooked on their iced chai... Atmosphere is usually wonderful here..

Google
Officially my favorite coffee place in downtown kent! Their syrups are either organic or homemade, which is amazing! They sell their own grounds, so you know it’s good. The cafe has the best vibes and the coffee was divine! I had the rainbow mocha for their special event, but I’m sure that everything on the menu is amazing

Google
Love this coffee shop in downtown Kent. Plenty of parking. Not a lot of seating but the coffee is worth getting it to go. Workers are very knowledgeable about the coffee they serve. Def worth the trip!

Christian L.

Yelp
Been coming here for 10+ years and hope I can keep coming for 10+ more. I have yet to find better coffee in the area. There are so many good roasts to choose from and they bring out new roasts occasionally. The shop is quaint and cozy. It can get busy at times, but if you visit at a slower time the baristas are extremely friendly and happy to chat. If you love coffee watch out because Bent Tree will become the standard and makes it difficult for other cafes to compare. Thanks for keeping me caffeinated!

Graciela P.

Yelp
Stopped here in the morning for coffee before heading out to Canton. We needed our morning fix. Place is pretty small, maybe like a table or two to sit inside. They do have a section where they are roasting the beans, it smelled delicious walking inside. They have plenty of merchandise and bags of beans for sale. Barista was friendly and very helpful. We tried a seasonal peach nitro cold brew, a Cappuccino and an iced latte. My sister wasn't a fan of the cold brew which I was already expecting. I thought it was fine, nice subtle peach flavor. My sister did enjoy the other two, very good coffee. Would definitely return.

Lara C.

Yelp
The coffee was very acidic and left us all feeling rough the rest of the day. The service was fine. We got our coffee to go so I can't speak to the atmosphere.

Leon D.

Yelp
Cool little coffee shop and roasters. The place is tiny with very limited seating. The parking lot has a nice aroma of coffee probably because they roast in house. The staff is friendly and the service is very speedy. They offer many latte flavors and coffee types. They also sell their roasted coffee beans and plenty of merch. This is a great option for a quality coffee fix!

Glenda R.

Yelp
I'm not a fan of leaving negative reviews but I hope this helps them in the long run. The venue itself is in a good location with ample street parking. The store is nicely decorated and cookies are yum. But Coffee was not flavorful or robust and the small is SMALL. The biggest issue we had is one of our group members had to leave because the seating is outside, with stairs and not handicap friendly :(

Dave P.

Yelp
Small coffee shop in Kent. Good selection of coffee, tea and assorted drinks. Beans for sale and they'll grind if you wish. Many tasty goodies also available. I enjoy their house breakfast blend - a tasty medium roast with a smooth chocolate and nut flavor. Staff is helpful and quick.

Tee M.

Yelp
Easily the best coffee shop I have experienced, period (and I've experienced many!). My husband and I stopped in during a rainy day respite from hiking nearby. I prefer local coffee shops that roast their own beans, source organic coffee, and above all, have knowledgable and friendly baristas. Bent Tree checked all those boxes! I was blown away with the barista's ability to make personalized recommendations for my two dietary restrictions and customize a beverage for me that was absolutely delicious. The space is cozy, eclectic, with a most friendly vibe. We enjoyed our beverages so much that we got a second one to go, and have changed our plans for tomorrow to include another visit! I hope that the local population realizes what a gem they have in Bent Tree Coffee, and that travelers like myself do themselves a favor and drop in for a visit!

Craighton M.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in during our visit to Kent and today and found this gem of a coffee shop where they roast their own beans on site. A beautiful eclectic spot in the downtown mill area of the city. The baristas were extremely knowledgeable and patient with us. We are going to re-route our hiking trip in Cuyahoga Falls Metro Gorge tomorrow to stop in here again.

C. L.

Yelp
Get the 'Earthquaker' coffee this is one of our favorites! It's close, prices are good, but parking is sometimes a hassle, but that is Kent.

Craig H.

Yelp
So I am not a wordy person and I only leave limited reviews. I fricken love coffee. This place is awesome. Ambiance amazing, service outstanding, selection great. Just come and you will agree. Oh and the scone was really good also. Not too dry

Katie F.

Yelp
Surprised to find I've never written a review for Bent Tree! A cozy lil spot just north of downtown. While I've never had their roasted coffee in-shop, a decent amount of places around serve it and I've always enjoyed. When I stop in, I almost always get a seasonal drink. They've had some truly creative & yummy gems. Recently, a peppermint mocha. In the fall, a harvest maple latte (maple latte with additional spices). Before that, a latte made with fruity pebbles cereal milk. One of the first places around to have oat milk, I used to regularly get a maple oat milk latte -- tastes like breakfast! Like many have mentioned, this little stop doesn't have much seating, but I'm typically grabbing their drinks and going anyway. I also love the cake pops they sell from a local vendor too! I've also really respected all of the covid precautions they've taken the entirety of covid's existence. They should really be applauded for keeping their customers and staff saf Overall, I'd definitely recommend stopping in & supporting local always!

Gwen L.

Yelp
Best coffee in Kent! Whether you're looking for beans to take home and brew yourself, or a morning cup of Joe this is the place! Staff is amazing! Patient, friendly, helpful, and kind! They have delicious seasonal drinks that are well crafted and always a good choice if you want to branch out (haha tree pun). If you're someone who knows what you like, or sticks with the basics, they also are the place for you! They have house-made syrups to add to your drinks, and a variety of milk alternatives. They also offer a variety of different coffee roasts prepackaged to take home with you. They have different French presses and pour overs for sale so that you can become a master of the different ways to brew your coffee at home! Cute mugs, hats, and other merch too! Pretty much, whatever you need Bent Tree has with a smile!

Yelp
My daughter is thinking about attending Kent State in the fall of 2024, and I'm really hoping she does, because this is an awesome coffee place that I would like to frequent often. I came here yesterday for just a drip coffee, but the two men who were working there made it fresh for me and it was one of the best cups of coffee I ever had. Definitely the best drip coffee for sure. I had the Brazilian light roast and it was phenomenal. So much flavor. The two men working were hard workers, very nice and friendly. The establishment is clean and cool. Love all the brewing supplies, Bent Tree merch, and the huge coffee roaster to the left when you walk in. I absolutely loved my visit here. Great job, Bent Tree!

Alicia S.

Yelp
I stopped into Bent Tree a few weeks ago to buy some Christmas gifts for family, and I had a really good experience. I know that most reviews are for the great drinks and snacks, but this one is for the customer service. As somoene who is not a coffee drinker, I set out to find some coffee to give as gifts to family members this holiday season. Having truly no idea what I was looking for, the employee who was definitely multi-tasking during a busy Saturday afternoon took the time to help me select different beans for each person. I wish I knew his name, but I didn't see a name tag (and it was hard to give a description because he was wearing a mask). Nonetheless, I'd have to believe that he is one of many kind employees at Bent Tree. While I'm sure all the beverages and treats are great, I will definitely be back for the customer service alone.

Cheryl-lyn N.

Yelp
The BEST coffee place in Kent! I like trying different types of coffee but don't like if they are horribly sweet... so Bent Tree is my go-to! Matcha lattes - They really use matcha powder and not matcha syrup that's why I love this place because I have never found a place so far in Kent that does that!! Seasonal flavors - Changes seasonally but always SUPERB!! LOVE the orange mocha. Legit tastes like orange peel + mocha that's not overly sweet. LOVE the lavender lattes. Omg, this is my second go-to if I don't get the matcha latte.

Jon G.

Yelp
Nothing fancy just delicious coffee. A little hippyish but it is a coffee shop after all. The staff is very nice.

J L.

Yelp
Excellent macchiato- nice dollop of foamed milk strong but not burnt coffee flavor . Two.

Dan C.

Yelp
Coffee greatness. Biked here from Munroe Falls. Enjoyed a mocha with oat milk. This is a great place to sit and enjoy

Mindy H.

Yelp
I really enjoy a good London Fog but haven't ordered one in a long time because I feel like some other establishments never steep the tea enough. If they advertise it as a lavender London Fog, there's also never enough lavender. I was a little apprehensive about ordering a London Fog here but something told me to do it anyways. The two aforementioned problems did not exist here. I could smell the lavender off of my drink when I first took a sip. It was absolutely incredible and they steeped the tea perfectly. My partner got a drip decaf and he was really impressed with their unique flavors. Definitely will be back to try more drinks from them when I am back in town!

Gabrielle S.

Yelp
Love this place! Delicious coffee, great environment, and the regular bagel with raspberry jam they sell is seriously great.

Mia W.

Yelp
Really good coffee. I had the honey cortado. Made just right with just a touch of honey.

Rhiannon B.

Yelp
My coffee never tastes good. I don't know why I keep trying to order from them. It's a cute little shop and I wish it was good.

Dan G.

Yelp
Really good coffee! And I consider myself a coffee snob lol. Decent hours, parking and the staff is nice. She even opened up a little early for us, although the internet said 6:30. They have a nice selection of coffee related items, beans and some cups and clothing. I highly recommend the scones too.

Marina S.

Yelp
We come here to buy their beans. Great locally roasted coffee. I also found my favorite loose leaf tea of all time here. If you are a fan of teas look for their selection! I can't drink caffeine really so I am always looking for good decaf tea and coffee options. I was delighted to find a caffeine free loose leaf tea that I love. Really enjoy their decaf coffee beans and my husband loves their regular beans. Cute shop in Kent.

Amelie D.

Yelp
Little coffee shop we stopped by yesterday during our walk. Menu is pretty small, and that might be due to the situation. They had 2 tables for sitting outside, but in full sun when room was available on the shade (it was over 90F). We asked if we could move them and told no. Food menu was not having many options available and none of you are lactose intolerant or not into oatmeal.

Ryan S.

Yelp
I enjoy this place, the informative baristas, and their coffee. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. They have a wide assortment of single origin coffees that they roast in-house. You can even see the roasting equipment in the same room you sit in! They also have a ton of brewing equipment for sale, to which I purchased a Hario glass server. They only have high top tables and bar seating. Take the following more as constructive criticism Bent Tree, I love your place and Kent in general. I will warn those who enjoy legit light roasted coffee though. Bent tree claims they have light roast coffee, but in reality it's medium roast coffee. Every time I go there I pick up bitterness in my coffee, caused by over roasting their beans. It's not just the taste that tells me this, but the color of the roasted beans themselves: too dark. This is why I only gave four stars. Five stars if it wasn't for that. They are still 1000 times better than Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts though, so please don't misunderstand me here. Best coffee in Kent without a doubt!

Sarah E.

Yelp
We love love love Bent Tree. We love the coffee, love the lattes, love their specialty drinks. We love the employees we love hanging out there it's amazing place and we would highly recommend ...also love their shirts , sweatshirts and coffee mugs.

Marc K.

Yelp
They roast delicious coffee right there in the house. You're not gonna find too many cups of coffee better than this

Gregory Y.

Yelp
Not my favorite coffee. I know many people rave about their coffee but I'm not a fan. The coffee is on the weak side almost watery.

Melody G.

Yelp
this was hands down the best coffee I've had downtown in a while. I don't like my drink super sweet so the girl helping me halved the syrup and it was perfect!! so glad that's it's open inside now too (which they had a good system!)

Michelle L.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops in the Kent area. If you catch them at the right time, you'll get to see and smell them roast beans! I love their maple lattes, golden milk lattes, and iced teas! The peach oolong tea is my favorite, but it comes and goes on the menu. I've tried their bags of beans that you can purchase and they have all tasted great! Personally, I am a fan of their light roasts. They'll even grind it to whatever device you have at home. They consistently deliver good service here, and I have even become well acquainted with some of the staff just from stopping in for a drink! It can become a little crowded and loud at times, so depending on when you come in it's not always the best environment for a date or studying.

John M.

Yelp
A small batch roaster with a large coffee selection, from Peru to Ethiopian coffees, from light to dark roast. Friendly hospitality. Pour over, French press, and nitro brew options. Not much seating available--only four stools inside and two chairs outside. But for the folks of Kent who love to walk I don't think the lack of seating keeps customers away. Bent Tree sells a few tools of the trade to enhance your brewing experience at home.

Erica E.

Yelp
Amazing coffee and fun atmosphere, even during COVID. Highly recommend the Brown Sugar Oak Latte. Probably the best latte I've ever had.

Kerri W.

Yelp
My hubby is a bit of a coffee snob, so finding a "real" coffee place is a must on vacation. Arriving in Kent for Potterfest 2017 & seeing the crowds EVERYWHERE guaranteed he would be seeking out a place in town. Walking into Bent Tree & seeing their roaster & containers with current beans was a good sign. He walked up & viewed the beans sitting in a grinder & came back to our spot in line with a thumbs up. The three baristas were hustling to serve every customer quickly & their smiles didn't waver for an instant. Who knew Butterbeer Lattes were so popular?!? The hubs ordered his usual - a cortado - while I aimed for an iced mocha. We logged onto the free wifi while we waited for our drinks. My mocha arrived fairly quickly & it did not disappoint. Just enough chocolate to have it mix perfectly with the coffee left me quite satisfied. While we were waiting for his drink, another customer asked a barista how often they roasted their beans & was answered with "every day!" - that's a win on the hubby coffee meter. His cortado had a bit of a wait, but it was worth it. He finished his drink & said that he was fairly certain we had found the best shop in town. Unfortunately, we live in Southern California so we won't be regulars...but it's nice to know that Kent has a great coffee place!

Zoe H.

Yelp
I have waited to make a review until I have been several times. The coffee is on the watery side and the menu is rather small, especially if you're looking for a drink that isn't coffee. I wouldn't plan on staying and hanging out for a while as seating is limited and the space is tight. The most recent time I went, the barista was not very nice to the customers and seemed like she didn't care to be there.

Emily R.

Yelp
BEST COFFEE EVER! I've always had really nice service too!

Nancy B.

Yelp
The blends just get better and better... the latest... PB&J! No oils or flavors added... a variety with a fruity taste... one with a nutty taste... and a third with the aroma of bread... an amazing cup either hot or cold! Worth the trek to Kent to get a fresh brewed cup... but super easy to pick up a pound at Heinens now!

Ian C.

Yelp
Bent Tree is a solid local coffee shop with a few drawbacks that prevent it from being truly great. First, it's hard to beat their prices, especially on beans, and the quality is much better than other places you'll find in the Kent/Stow/Ravenna area. Their drinks are also fairly priced even if you get a higher end single origin coffee as a pour over (which, at other shops, can cost twice as much). The biophilic atmosphere is a great place to work in, and there's always a good buzz to the space. Plants on reclaimed wood tabletops help you work better and focus more sharply. The music isn't usually too loud, which is fantastic. There's not a lot of seating, but it almost never feels too cramped. Great place to work or study. There are only a couple of downsides. For one, they have a habit of serving all drinks in to-go cups, even if you're staying in the shop. If you're after a nice notNeutral mug or mason jar to hold your beverage, you have to ask specifically for one (and, if it's busy, the staff may forget, which is understandable). I prefer mugs/jars for a better drinking experience and for the reusability factor, and I find it a bit perplexing that to-go cups are their go-to. In addition, there tends to be a bit of variance from beverage to beverage, which is especially obvious with flavored lattes. So if you get a maple latte two days in a row, one may taste completely different from the other. Although they've drastically improved their flavors, so that's a plus. All in all, Bent Tree is a cool place with lots of bang for your buck, but with a few minor tweaks, they could be even better.

Mandy L.

Yelp
My favorite place to purchase coffee in Kent! I mostly get whole bean but they'll grind it however you need it for your preferred brewing method, no coffee snobbery here. I have yet to try them all, but I especially love the Espresso and Black Squirrel blends. They have great coffee accessories including pour-over sets and grinders plus now they feature some nitro cold brew which is like *BLAM, In Your Face!* with high octane coffee deliciousness. Move out of Kent but craving your favorite brew? Get a coffee subscription!

Ted F.

Yelp
Tried this place for the 1st time after reading yelp reviews. Reviews were spot on. Great coffee house. Mocha was excellent, atmosphere was welcoming and interesting. Definitely will be back.

Jennica S.

Yelp
There are a lot of quaint hipster coffee shops around the Stow/Kent area, but I truly think this one sells the best quality coffee. I seriously wish I could capture the scent in a candle and burn one in every room of my house. But in the mean time, I'll buy the beans and grind them at home for a fresh delicious cup of coffee. I'm not kidding when I say my husband and I reserve this for weekends only so we can savor it from the comfort of our couch in pjs and go back for seconds. It's one more reward for making it through the week. Sure, drinking it on Mondays too might make my Monday more bearable, but I wouldn't appreciate the deliciousness that is Bent Tree as much. And it deserves the appreciation.

Renae A.

Yelp
I always try to stop here anytime I'm in town to visit my parents and every time it's a fantastic experience. The store itself is taken up mostly by the roasting equipment/coffee storage/etc., meaning that the main focus here is to buy your coffee beans/equipment or grab a cup to go, because the seating is very limited (one bar table against the window). Last time I was there and talking to them it sounds as if they're in the process of moving to a larger warehouse for roasting, which may mean a redesign of their current shop (?). I have liked every bag of beans I've gotten from here, which ranges from single origin beans to creative blends. So far, my favorite has actually been their PB&J blend, which is NOT a flavored coffee, but a blend of a different beans that give off fruity, nutty, and grainy flavors. You can also just buy a hot cup of coffee made with your preferred brewing method along with a variety of cold brews (drip, immersion, or nitro styles). Check out their website: they have single origin, blends, decaf, and half-caf. The customer service is always top notch here, too. The staff is always friendly and was very accommodating when I needed to return some equipment I was giving as a gift. All of them also seem incredibly knowledgeable and know every aspect about their coffee, whether that's where the beans came from, how they were grown, to the roasting process.

Natalie P.

Yelp
I went to buy their bulk coffee beans and forgot to ask for them ground, called back about a week later and they gave me a free bag (couldn't take mine back because of COVID) with it ground the right way. They just gained my business forever!

Renati N.

Yelp
The fucking tits best coffee I've tried the coffees always roasted to perfection baristas are the most friendly people on the planet and in the summertime they put plants everywhere what more could you ask for

Mehdi D.

Yelp
Addictively high quality dark roast blends. Strongly recommended. The staff is so friendly and helping. I will definitely return to buy my whole beans from. Happy to try their coffees.

Dana D.

Yelp
Wish I lived closer, so I could sit and relax here more often.... the coffee is superb! When I'm in the area I always buy a pound of beans, really any kind.. they are all so good!

Thomas B.

Yelp
I feel like the value of beans they sell is fair. Good beans for a good price. I've had an array of drinks from here. Mostly I have a single origin pour.

Charles P.

Yelp
This place came up over a year ago. Ever since their doors opened they have set a new standard for coffee. I have been all over the World and yes to MANY shops that roast their coffee onsite. I still can't find a better cup then what these coffee artists throw down. Their product is stocked at foodie restaurants and boutique grocery stores all over NE Ohio. Look for the signs at local resturaunts that say "serving bent tree coffee" When you visit their shop the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They'll help you pick a roast that's right for you. While you are there try the nitro coffee, an amazing invention that tastes incredible, be warned though it's high octane stuff :0

Kevin D.

Yelp
Bent Tree Coffee is the best coffee roaster in area! Let me explain why. First off, before I start kissing some major butt I want to point out to everyone that this is more of a store than it is a coffee shop. They do have one table with a couple seats that allows you to sit down and enjoy a cup, but don't plan on meeting a group of friends here because they cannot accommodate. Parking is sometimes scarce but that shouldn't deter you. Now, back to the butt kissing. Their coffee is hands down the best coffee you can find in this area! They import their beans from lots all over the world and they roast them right there in the shop. You can actually watch them do it. The variety is quite impressive. As a connoisseur of coffee I can tell you that these folks take great pride in their product and they never hesitate to help you find a bean that fits your taste. I think the owner is the guy who's sporting the Jesus beard, he seems to always be there and on top of everything. If you're a true 'Yelper' like me and you visit a lot of restaurants, you'll notice the best places will hang a sign that says "Serving Bent Tree Coffee". There's a reason for that, their reputation in the area is so well known that restaurants brag about serving their coffee. (i.e. Nosh Eatery, Taco Tontos, Tree City Coffee Shop, etc.) Their prices might seem kind of high but that's relative to grocery store prices. They're actually on par with other local coffee roasters, like Muggswigz in Canton. Although I noticed that Bent Tree doesn't tell you when they roasted the coffee you're buying. At Muggswigz they will sell you a bag of coffee at half price if it stays on the shelf longer than 10 days. Maybe that's something Bent Tree should consider doing. If you're a real coffee connoisseur and you're looking for the perfect cup, come out and support these guys, they deserve your business.

Rami M.

Yelp
Bent Tree has the best coffee! I went with my brother most recently, and he said: "You can't really go wrong with a place that roasts their own beans." That's the type of place Bent Tree is. Everyone that works there is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about their coffee. And guess what? They're not pretentious! They always have a variety of single origin beans, but they also have unique blends. I always take home a different bag of beans because I want to try them all! You can also get coffee by the cup, order a pour over, buy merchandise, or get some gear for making/drinking coffee at home.
