Why You Shouldn't Overlook Busan, South Korea's Edgy Second City

"Beomeosa is a 7th century temple located on Geumjeong Mountain in Busan. It provides a powerful experience with its scenic views, being ringed by peaks on one side and offering views out to sea on the other. The temple is a significant cultural and historical site, and visitors can reach it via a two-hour trek, with shuttle services available for convenience."

Uncovering Busan’s most beautiful attractions - SilverKris

"An important Buddhist complex dating back to 678 and founded by monk Ui Sang, set against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Geumjeongsan; it offers a calm oasis within the city and runs residential ‘temple stay’ programmes that include pre-dawn chanting, meditation and tea ceremonies (a 2D1N programme is listed at 70,000 KRW)." - James Wong

The architecture is stunning: intricate woodwork, bright dancheong patterns, and centuries-old pagodas that somehow feel both grand and humble. Even with other visitors around, it never loses that sense of serenity. The views are also incredible. The temple sits high enough that you can see the forested hills rolling out below, especially if you take a short hike up behind the complex. It’s the perfect balance of culture and nature. Whether you’re into history, photography, or just looking for a peaceful place to recharge, Beomeosa Temple is a must-see in Busan. It’s not just a visit - it’s an experience that stays with you.

Beautiful and serene temple. The surrounding countryside was stunning with the autumn leaves. Be sure to walk back to the metro - it's an easy walk and the view is splendid.

Highly recommend visiting this 1,300-year-old ancient temple. It’s beautifully maintained and offers a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Perfect place to unwind and take in the history.

very quiet, well-maintained, and relaxing place, like most temples in Korea. The site is very easy to reach by public transport

Close to Busan - booked the experience Temple Stay and would recommend. Good food with services led by a monk with fluent English, plus a great tour guide of the temple included.

Beautiful temple and surroundings. Worth a visit. Don't follow the naver maps directions. Instead take the train to Beomeosa station or Nopo station (even better) and take the 90 bus (it takes you to the temple entrance).

Amazing temple on the top of a mountain near Busan city center. You can take a bus that leaves you at the door. Many buildings conform this temple that for sure will enjoy wandering around in the middle of nature. Highly recommended visit at anytime

Quite a big temple complex with multiple buildings (ci 10). Partially closed when people are meditating, but almost everything is accessible. There is also a nice little garden at the foot of the complex with memorial animals / plaques. Can easily spend 1-1.5 hours here. Little tourist shop sell statues and arm braces and such. I combined this with visit to seokbulsa temple, which in my view is much more impressive.
