Beppu Ropeway

We set off from Beppu in the morning, where it was clear and sunny. The weather remained the same even after arriving at the lower cable car station. But when we climbed up, there was thick fog everywhere, visibility was barely 3m. We decided to stay and go around the route. We have experience from the mountains that the fog blows away. And here too our expectations were fulfilled. If you are like us, don't despair and try to hold out for an hour, the weather may improve.

Very beautiful. It was very cold at the top. 1800yen lift ticket price. There is a gift shop with drink machines and small snacks. The views were breathtaking. It was very windy that day so I did not allow my small child to go close to the edge.

It's a missable attraction. And that's coming from someone who loves these kind of funny transport things. The view at the top is nice don't get me wrong but there's literally nothing to do once your up there other than catch the view and then head back down. The gondola has quite a cool retro vibe as well which is nice but yeah it's not a must but if you happen to be passing and have some time to kill its more fun than sitting on your hands. Also when I went it was pretty empty but they were still running every 20min so I had very little wait. If there was any kind of waiting or crowds I honestly wouldn't bother unless you know what your doing

There’s a cute, sleepy chubby cat at the station. The ride up is slow, and the view was just alright—unfortunately, it was foggy on the day I visited, so there wasn’t much to see. Still, it was an enjoyable hike up to the viewing points overall.

Great spot to get away from the city and enjoy Kyushu nature in an easy way. I was here on a hot summer day so it is so cool and refreshing up in the mountain. I wish I have brought picnic mats and lunch with me. I do recommend people stay for 1-2 hours to climb to the top, siting quietly in the forest solely feels nice too.

At about 2,000 yen per person for a round trip, I would only visit the top if the weather was absolutely lovely. Credit be given that there was a sign at the ticket booth that the visibility at the top wasn't good. (And it turned miserable really quickly after we had decided not to go and walked out the station.) Also a cute and very sleepy resident cat.

Took the Cable Car up Mt Tsurumi and hiked to the summit. The views are excellent. A little lower than the summit (but still a little hike from the cable car endpoint) is a scenic outlook that has unobstructed views. Well worth the time and effort!

Lovely mountain views at the top with a short hike to the summit. There's not much else to do once you're up there but we spent about an hour on the mountain. The ropeway is cash only and comes every 20 minutes and they will let you know when there's 5 minutes before each departure via a large speaker. There's plenty of free parking at the bottom.
