Beauty and serenity surround you. We attended an Orchid workshop run by Claudette from Marvellous Orchids. Johan, the owner from Bergbron Plaaskombuis is the perfect host, making sure he takes a selfie of himself before taking group pics 📸 😉.

What a lovely little gem, always drove past and today decided to pay a visit. Sooooo homey, with friendly and fast service. Has inside seating with beautiful oldenday decorations and a fireplace, and outside seating with a cole stove for heat 🤩. You really get the plaas feeling with the hearty food and cosy setting. They also serve alchohol, breakfast and lunch. Dog friendly with a doggy treat menu, how cute. Has inside and street parking. Prices are reasonable and food looks great, I only had the coffee and rusks, but the other diners seemed very happy with their old school meals. A must visit 👌🏻

Interesting food :) Food : - I tried a vetkoek with chicken mayo, it was not bad it was interesting. The chicken mayo was very rich. I enjoyed the coffee with the rusks, very South African. Ambiance / Atmosphere: - Relaxing ! It’s a relaxing atmosphere that is buzzing with few people, it also is very nice that it has trinkets of the past. Staff / Management : - The service was quick and brilliant.

When we arrived we where welcomed by a friendly Waiter, the place made you feel like you are in the countryside in 1948 with old wood burning oven crackling away, the waiter took a long time for our drinks but it was worth it, I havent tasted Moer koffie with so much love since the 90's then we ordered our food. Then the service stopped, we finished our drinks and no waiter appeared again and they where not busy they only appeared 35 min later with our food, If you want to upsell your restaurant please dont let your patron go look for waiters for just a drink. Anyway when the food arrived I felt I was back at Mum's having a awesome meal we had pap and Kaiings and chicken liver pate - It made such an impact that my wife only eats liver pate with Apricot jam from now on. Worth a Visit very good prices!

Feels like you are having a meal at someone’s home. The restaurant is in a converted house. It has all the traditional Afrikaans dishes that one would have grown up eating in an Afrikaans household. Also good for others who haven’t grown up in a Afrikaans household. Food is cooked fresh and the portions are very generous. The taste is very nice. Service is a bit out there. While we were attended to promptly and the food arrived in 20-30 minutes which is expected as the food is cooked fresh. One thing that was somewhat disappointing was we ordered the sweet dumplings and after an 1.5 hours of waiting were informed that it’s only made on special occasions. While that is understandable, telling us 1.5 hours after ordering it was not a nice ending to a very nice meal. What the place needs is a manager and cushions on the chairs as they are not designed for long sitting sessions.

Great little restaurant situated in the leafy suburb of Bergbron. Makes you feel completely like you are not in Johannesburg at all. Lovely atmosphere and outside seating as well as inside seating for all times of the year. The food's size portions is generously sized with an affordable price and i had the periperi chicken livers on a roosterkoek. Loved it! The coffee can be served in a regular or a big sized cup! Waiters are friendly! Parking limited but understandable, not a huge place but quality over quantity! Will recommend for breakfast or brunch! Also a tractor to pose on for pictures and 1 or 2 things for the kids to keep themselves busy.

A lovely place that serves unique food you won't find elsewhere. I've been twice and enjoyed it very much. Went in mid September 2023 and sat in the garden next to the fountain, amongst all the beautiful blooms. It was a great experience. Very peaceful and unique; a great treat different from the familiar fast-food and chain restaurants. Although it takes a while for food to arrive at the table, it is always worth it and totally understandable as the food is cooked from scratch. You can tell it's made with love. Overall, I highly recommend this place.
