Bergen Børs Hotel (Bergen, Norway) 8 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"If you know your Nordic languages, you might not be surprised to hear that the Bergen Børs Hotel occupies the building that once housed Bergen, Norway’s stock exchange. That famous Scandinavian minimalism you’re looking for is here, but it’s concealed within the 19th-century neo-Renaissance style of the historic building." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed at Bergen Børs Hotel for one night after taking the overnight train from Oslo, arriving around 6:30 am. We were tired, hungry, and fully expecting to have to kill time before check-in—but the front desk staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They got all three of our rooms ready early, without hesitation. That alone set the tone for a great stay. The hotel is right in the heart of Bergen, perfectly located for walking the city. The exterior has a grand, historic feel—it used to be the stock exchange—and the interiors blend that classic architecture with modern, upscale design. The lobby and common areas are stylish but not overdone, with clean lines, muted tones, and comfortable seating. Our room was quiet, clean, and well laid out. Good water pressure, blackout curtains, and a comfortable bed checked all the key boxes after a night of sleeping upright. Even though we only stayed one night, we appreciated the small touches—Nespresso machine, quality linens, fast Wi-Fi. Service throughout the stay was consistent and professional. The early check-in wasn’t a fluke—they were accommodating from start to finish. If you’re only in Bergen for a short stay and want something central, quiet, and polished without veering into “luxury-for-the-sake-of-it” territory, Bergen Børs is a smart pick. We’d stay again.

The rooms are noticeably more spacious than what you typically find in Bergen, and the service has been consistently excellent. Breakfast is great, and the restaurant area has a really impressive atmosphere filled with art and cultural touches. The staff are friendly and helpful, and overall it’s been a high-quality, enjoyable stay.

We had a fantastic time at Bergen Bors. We stayed for 6 nights in July in a Deluxe King Room. It was a corner room on the 6th floor, in the newer part of the building, with 3 huge windows, two of which looked out onto the square by the hotel. We didn't hear any noise at all during our stay, either from outside or from neighbouring rooms. Our room was large, very clean and well appointed. Some reviews have critised the power points being low down, and they were like that in this room, but a power socket tower was also in the room, on the desk, so we didn't need to get on our hands and knees. Other critical reviews have mentioned the rooms being very hot. Our room came with two fans, only one of which we needed, despite us being in Bergen during a heatwave, with outside temperatures close to 30 degrees. The staff, without exception, were friendly, helpful and smiling. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast was amazing, as was the cocktail bar BARE, the outside terrace bar, and the next-door Spanish beer bar. The location of the hotel is perfect - just a few minutes walk from Brygge harbour, the Hanseatic warehouses, the funicular train and the numerous boats that take you on day trips to the various fjords. We did three fjord trips during our stay - each unique and wonderful. The hotel building itself is stunning, and can be spotted from all over the city, with it's distincitve green copper roof. We had the best time in Bergen, and at Bergen Bors Hotel, and we didn't want to leave.

Google
Lovely hotel in the center of Bergen’s bustling waterfront area. It is quite unique being a former stock exchange building. The staff were super helpful and accommodating in answering all of our questions and making reservations for dinner on request. Our room was spacious and had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay.

An absolutely beautiful hotel. Central location - everything was within a 15 minute walk. The breakfast buffet was one of the best we’ve had with lots of gluten free options.

A great hotel with great staff. Breakfast in a room with the most magnificent murals. Very centrally located. An ornate old building, formerly the stock exchange. It’s style suited a beautiful city. My only minor concerns were the lighting seemed a bit dull in the room and the room doors opened outwards. I nearly got hit one day walking down the corridor.

I came to Norway to propose to my girlfriend and this hotel has been amazing with supporting me (us). ||The communication has been second to none and they have helped with every detail. The room, food, extras in the room, all have been brilliant. ||The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive.

We had a really disappointing stay here over the summer. My wife and I were traveling with our 11 month old and had emailed the hotel in advance about that, so they knew we needed a crib and had a baby with us - they actually recommended the room type that would be big enough for one:|1. The front desk told us there were "a few stairs" to our room. When we got to it there was a full flight down and no elevator access. We had to carry our stroller up and down the stairs multiple times a day as a result, and I have no idea why they would recommend this room type and not make any attempt to move us to somewhere accessible.|2. We had to ask multiple times for things to be delivered - the crib wasn't initially there, a request for a water kettle to prepare bottles took multiple attempts, and even though we pre-paid for dinner at the restaurant they had no record of it initially. At one point the front desk tried to talk us out of needing a kettle before agreeing to go search for one.|3. We should have checked in advance whether the hotel had AC - the rooms were sweltering in the summer heat of August and we only had tiny fans. Had I checked I simply would've booked elsewhere.||Many parts of the hotel were lovely and the design is just gorgeous, but I would simply not recommend the hotel for families. If you're staying as a couple outside of summer, it would be a lovely hotel and a great spot in town, but don't expect proactive service or family friendliness.

Yelp
Staying at this hotel is a noise lottery. They have not soundproofed the room from outside noises, and so many rooms face the streets or public square. So it was noisy until 2-3am in the morning, unable to sleep. The rest of the hotel is good. Rooms, breakfast, etc. The location is perfect. But a noisy room and a bad nights sleep, that's the basics. Unfortunately, they were full that night, so we couldn't move rooms. Reception was proactive to offer a move the following night, to a room facing the inner courtyard. Which was much more quieter. So the second night was at least good. When we complained, it looks like there is no management to speak to. No manager on duty on the weekend. On weekdays, not available at 10am, nor at 3:45pm. Reception also won't take down our phone number to pass to the manager, only gave us the general email address for the hotel, to email in. For a hotel at this end of the quality scale, the lack of managerial service is shocking. And for a hotel in the middle of the city, the lack of soundproofing is shocking. Unless you can guarantee an inner courtyard room when booking, I would not recommend this hotel. Also, as I can see they have alot of cruise guests staying, I can see why management don't really care about individual guest bookings and their satisfaction. If you want to play sleep lottery, or can sleep like the dead at night, book here. Otherwise, there are many other choices in Bergen.

Yelp
Our one regret with this elegant, old-school hotel was not being able to stay more than one quick night here. Them's were the breaks as we were on the express version of the Norway in a Nutshell tour package. Bergen was a charming city and more manageable than Oslo to explore, but because transport through the fjords was time-consuming, Jamie W. and I just had a half-day in Bergen. That wasn't a nutshell experience, it was a nutcracker if you know what I mean. Good thing this hotel was such a visual delight as it was the city's old stock exchange building a couple of centuries back. It was transformed into a neo-Renaissance style with nice contemporary changes. Our Standard Double room was simple and comfortable. The going rate was about $160 per night. More importantly, it was centrally located right across the street from the fish market and down the street from Bryggen. Sadly, because we had an early morning train, we had to miss out on the breakfast buffet as the hotel has a Michelin starred restaurant (Bare). The front desk staff was very good though, as they had a takeout bag prepared for us and coordinated our luggage pickup. Hopefully we'll have a longer stay next time. RELATED - Exploring Norway? Yelp
Single older lady traveling by myself so first impression was a dark bar with low ceiling but.. was greeted with enthusiasm and the white fish and roasted cabbage dish was amazing. Bare Natural is a find in Bergen and the hotel was perfect.

Yelp
Lovely boutique hotel, very comfortable room and bathroom, excellent service, good breakfast, amazing central location. Only complaint is that the lobby / common areas are **heavily** fragranced, which is an unfortunate trend as all fragrance is neurotoxic. I feel bad for the staff (who were lovely). That's the only reason I wouldn't consider staying here again, though.

Yelp
This Bergen Bors is centrally located and only minutes from the wharf and fish market. The room is modest but the hotel makes up for it with a staff that is incredibly friendly and helpful and a pretty killer breakfast. There are a few convenience stores nearby and several great restaurants. It is easily within walking distance to the Fløibanen that takes you up to Fløyen for an incredible view of the city.
