Bergen Station

Beautiful station building in a central location. Good tram and bus connections. Local and regional trains as well as long-distance trains to Oslo depart from here. There are various shops and bistros in the station. There are plenty of seats. Tickets can be purchased from ticket machines. Luggage lockers are available.

I visited Bergen Station twice while on my journet to Flam and Oslo and my expierence was quite good. The station has a beautiful building and is overall very good.

Beautiful building. Catching the 8:08 a.m. train to Oslo. Thankfully the small (7-11 type) grocery store was open so that we could grab a coffee. Lord knows our Scandic Neptune hotel did not offer coffee early, yet another reason not to stay there in the future. #scandichotels

We were looking forward to our Oslo to Bergen Rail experience, as we have been on many iconic railways throughout the world! We booked the Pluss class where we were supposed to have access to tea and coffee facilities and toilet amenities! Both of these were out of order for the duration of the 10 hour journey! There was a one single portable urn provided for one hour initially which was not refilled again! So over ten hours I had one cup of tea! We had to use another carriages toilet, the wait was long and it smelled of urine! The seats in Plus’s class were dirty! Overall it was a filthy old train, not worth what we paid! It was supposed to be 7 hours but a landslide had us stopped at a standstill for over 2 hours! During this time there was no way to have a tea or coffee in our Pluss seating and no water provided! For tickets that were equal in price to the Glacier Express, I’m shocked and disappointed! Some of the view was lovely, but only a small portion! We missed the nicer views, as it was very dark by the time we reached these places due to the long delay!

Didn't stay long as caught the train in from Oslo to Bergen... Nearly 7 hours! But some stunning views along the way. Station has a small range of shops and was easy enough to navigate.

Bergen Station is a pretty small and easy-to-navigate station, which makes it super convenient, especially if you’re just trying to get from point A to B without much fuss. Train is literally there in front. There’s not a ton of food options here, just a small bistro café and a convenience store that carries the usual snacks, drinks, and some sandwiches. Some Norwegian small shops selling clothes and fabric. The café does sell hot food like soup and sandwiches, but only starting around 10 AM, so don’t expect a full menu if you’re here early. They did have a few sweets and pastries out though, which was nice for a quick bite. The station itself is generally clean, though there’s currently some construction going on. Trains leave right on time, which I appreciated. And the scenery on the train? Literally beautiful ❤️

Arrived into Bergen the other day via the train and it was a quick and easy experience. Being Norway's 2nd largest city, dining options were limited to a deli. There appeared to be lockers available for rent too. As the city is quite compact, I was able to walk to my final destination, merely 10 minutes away.

Bergen Stasjon is Bergen's train station. It has two tracks which make it very easy to navigate. The station also has luggage lockers. So if you want to walk around, don't want to stay overnight, and don't want to cart your luggage around, this is perfect. There is a supermarket nearby. The campus of museums is only 2 short blocks away. Restaurants nearby. Beautiful streets in the surrounding area if you care to explore. Outside are the public transit and taxi stops. BTW, this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

7/3/2024 - we took the 7 hour train ride from Oslo to Bergen. It was a very nice smooth ride. One, the train you cannot order wine and beer and bring to you reserved seats, you have to drink it at the car you purchased it at. Also, about 30 minutes before the train arrives in Bergen, they announce all hot dogs and pastries are half off. The Bergen train station was very clean and to exit just walk straight out the main doors. To the right of the exit are all the taxis and where Uber will pick you up. Literally, all the persons who left the train station vanished quickly after leaving. There are limited seating in the train station, there is a sushi bar and a mini grocery store inside and restrooms.

Gayle and I spent a couple hours here a few months ago, while waiting to board the scenic Bergen - Oslo Train. Bergen Stasjon is relatively modest as far as European train stations go. We had lunch at what looked like the station's only restaurant and I purchased nice fanny pack at the BRGN store. Other than that, there was a newsstand/mini-market, cafeteria, and a specialty gifts shop, which was pretty much it. Fortunately, Bergen Stasjon is an easy walk to the harbor and other interesting places in Central Bergen. There's also a shopping mall next store and some nice park land. So we weren't stuck here. The Bergen-Oslo train itself (separate review pending) left the station and arrived in Oslo on time. The station itself was clean, clearly organized, and well displayed regarding pending trains.

All the lockers were used. There weren't many either. Also, the light rail stop name was different, I forgot what it was but I was expecting to hear something like Bergen Central train station, but no, so lookout for all the trains in the station depot. You definitely know the bus station, but it's a few blocks from the train station. I saw some ladies using the public toilet, doesn't look too clean from the outside because you can smell it. The station is pretty & small so it's easy to navigate. Just a quick walk away from the central attractions. Do not wear heels. The streets are mostly cobblestone and will work your ankles, even with sneakers on is challenging to walk. Catch the Bybannen light rail on the right side of the main entry. There are two lines only, so take line 1 if you like to go to the airport, but that's another review.

I don't know much about the station as I barely spent 4 mins there and my train arrived. But from what I saw, it seemed like a clean and organized station with so many people waiting to board the train in the peak hour. The station had less visible staff for assistance but people were hospitable enough to answer the questions in broken English. I love Norway for its transport.

We were visiting from out of town and decided to check out the station. The inside of the station seems large to us but, our transportation is so poor in the US it is hard to compare with anything. Seemed to have a lot of trains to Oslo and we watched for a while and they left and arrived on time.

Pretty small station, especially if you compare it to Oslo. If you are planning to buy food to bring on your train trip I would say buy them in the city before you come to the station. Not much to choose from or you can buy on the train if you are going from Bergen to Oslo for a longer trip. Great location in the city, short walk for me to my hotel, less than 10 minutes. There is also a nice park in front of the station with a lake to walk around and some great photo opportunities.

We took the train from Oslo to Bergen to catch a cruise ship. This ride was great and the station was small but worked fine. We got off the train and walked outside to the taxi stand. It was no problem catching a cab to our ship.

I had a train ticket to Bergen and the train arrived in Bergen; I guess that's worth at least two stars? The station serves its purpose by dropping you in Bergen but it's certainly not a place you'll want to linger in or peruse. Other than a Deli de Luca and a Navesen there isn't much else in the station. Chances are you'll be arriving from Oslo S and you're initial reaction will be shock. You certainly wouldn't know that you were traveling from Norway's largest city to its second largest if you judged by the size and appearance of the station. I can't complain about the location of the station. It's conveniently located and near other mass transit options. A beautiful park is situated across the street and serves as a nice welcome to this waterfront city.

Like other reviews noted, there's not much at the train station except a waiting room, a coffee place, a Narvesen convenience store, Deli de Luca, lockers and bathrooms. If you need wi-fi, sit inside or outside of Deli de Luca. Otherwise there's Bergen Storsenter, a shopping center a block away if you want more eating and shopping options.

Yeah.. I have to admit this is a really grim station. Especially because I came from Oslo Central Station which is pretty much filled to the brim with shops and stores and things to do. Bergen Main Station really pales in comparison. There's a Deli de Luca and a convenience store, but really not much else. Pretty much just serves the purpose of connecting trains into Bergen.

There is only one shop and one restaurant. I think it's not much more. So you can buy there only the important things like snacks, newspapers and so on. The way to the centre (fish market) is about 15 minutes on foot.
