Nice cheap place to stay, well worth the money. Usually, when you stay in a hostel room with 16 other people it can get smelly and it can be noisy. None of these things happened during our stay. The kitchen is equipped to allow for at least 4 groups cooking at any one time. The dining hall is large and there is a separate area if you just want a nice place to chill. There seems to be only one female shower so you'll have to either shower really early or late if you are female.

Rooms were very clean and the WiFi was fast. It's a very bare bones hostel where towels and breakfast cost extra. The dorms are nice but crowded and there are very limited options for power outlets so charging devices can be tricky. Overall it was a good place for a temporary overnight stay but wouldn't want to stay for an extended time. The location is excellent though.

Great location, good sized lounge area, fully stocked kitchen, and good sized room with a power block to provide outlets for everyone (I stayed in the female only dorm). The best part was the outstanding service. Lorna was very knowledgeable and so nice. There was also a guy with glasses that was very kind.

Lovely stay. Staff were great. Facilities fantastic and clean. Stayed in an all female dorm and everyone was respectful and quiet, could do with a few more plugs but that's a minor issue. Staff let me reside in the hostel and lounge area in the evening despite having checked out due to having a night train back to oslo. Great service. Definitely low key but great as far as hostels go. Great location too, very close to the harbour and fish market. Around 5 mins from Bryggen. Would recommend

Accommodations were okay. We stayed in the 6 bed room and were frustrated by roommates that snored very loudly (obviously not the hostels fault) we ended up terminating our stay for this reason as well as we had minimal storage. The bathrooms were clean but poorly arranged with the toilet and shower directly next to each other meaning you have to push the excess water around the toilet into the drain after you shower. The kitchen is adequate and lounge area is nice. Overall I would recommend staying somewhere else for a little bit more money if you are in Bergen.

Very central location, clean and basic rooms and beds. The beds had no individual lights and socket. Shower facilities for females in the big dorms was also strange as we had to go to the 3rd floor and there was only one shower. The common rooms and rooftop area were good places to chill.

Fine place to stay. Exactly what is expected of a hostel: bunk beds, make your bed with fresh sheets, ask for a towel, shared bathrooms. There's a rooftop terrace which is nice, and a kitchen area. Staff was friendly and helpful, although they tend to disappear a lot so you have to wait sometimes to check in or get your luggage.. they did this when they told me to come back (at3pm) to check in. But everything else is great, and good location too.

Location and terrace are 2 good things. Everything else is average. Had to pay extra for towels. Also would be nice if kitchen was stocked with essentials such as salt, cooking oil, etc as it's not practical to buy these items for short stays.

Yelp
There are a grand total of three hostel options in Bergen so it's not like you have much of a choice but whatever, read on. I advise booking early because on the Saturday I arrived, the tourist information center had a sign saying ALL accommodation was booked in the city center. Overall, YMCA was a solid stay for just a couple of nights. I definitely appreciated the location, it's a quick walk to the tourist info center, the fish market, and the fløibanen. They accept online payment but note that towel rental is 10 NOK in cash. As far as accommodation, this is about as basic as it gets. Cheap bunk beds, itchy sheets, and only one set of plugs in the corner so everyone gets to fight to charge their electronics at night.

Yelp
Not bad, but not the best. I stayed in a 12-person female dorm, and there was only one shower for all of us! That's not enough I feel. The pillows were pretty weak, and the covers were sufficiently warm. It's not bad for a place to sleep, but I probably wouldn't want to stay there for too long. The hostel is in a very convenient location though, right in the center of the city near the fish market and about ten minutes from the central train station. Breakfast costs 50 NOK, and they provide good city maps!

Yelp
Good value for the money. We booked a private room far in advance as this coveted hostel fills up fast. The location is terrific. I have foot problems and I wanted something close to the train station and close to the terminal where we would later board the Hurtigruten. It was a 10 minute walk from the train station and more like 20 minutes to Hurtigruten (shoulda called a taxi for that one). It's very close to Bryggen and the fish market. Also, the Hop On/Hop Off stops right by the fish market and the TI is here too. Room was fine, nothing special but it's a hostel. The roof top deck is a bonus. Kitchen was great for cooking meals but not the cleanest, although that was the fault of other hostel guests.

Yelp
The reception staff was helpful when it came to tips for parking and airport bus pick-up location. Three of us (two 50+ year olds, and a 17 year old) had a 4-bed room with private bath, and were comfortable. The room was cozy, and had a fridge, kitchen sink, and two burners (but there was a note asking us not to use the burners). The shower got everything in the bathroom wet, but for our purposes, the room was fine. The location is really terrific, and we enjoyed the extras -- a nice rooftop area with picnic tables, a fully stocked kitchen for preparing meals, a breakfast/common room, and tv/computer room. We stored our bags and locked valuables in lockers while exploring on our get-away day with no issues.
