"Set beside the Firstbahn station about 7,200 feet up, this mountain inn’s casual self-serve setup turns out hearty Alsatian sausage salads, goulash soup, rösti, and raclette with big-time views." - Lindsay Lambert

We chose to stay at the hotel for our weekend getaway (Fr/Sat) and it was the best decision ever (2 people). Even though I only managed to ski for a short time and injured my knee on Friday, which shifted the whole Saturday plan, it was very pleasant to spend time on the grounds around the hotel, and on the terrasse while my partner went to ski. The experience of staying up there after the slopes close is one of a kind as well, just as waking up before everyone else arrives. Everyone on the team was incredibly nice, lighthearted, and helpful. Watching them interact with the local gang of Alpine choughs in a gentle manner says a lot about them as well - it was great to see, plus the birds themselves are quite amusing. The dinner service was much more than we expected and the food was very tasty - the salad stole my heart. Breakfast buffet is a perfect way to start the day in a slow, comfortable way with a variety of items to choose from, plus the Sirocco tea they have is absolutely fantastic - I am going to order myself a box or two. Our room (8) was cozy and warm (1 double bed + 2 single beds). The sound doesn't seem to carry much from the dining area/bar, just some sporadic noise of either service or maintenance nearby, but it quiets down long before 11 PM. The dawn duvets are also incredibly comfortable and I wish I asked about the brand because I would love one for myself. Facilities are clean and well maintained, both the ones dedicated to hotel guests and the public ones. A picknick area where you can eat your own food is quite big and you can even score a spot next to the heater. There is a dedicated room for all your skiing equipment and luggage as well, and there are a few lockers (2 CHF) you can use for your valuables. Overall we are happy with our stay and highly recommend trying it out!

Wife and me stayed a night in room 8 and it was really great. The staff is super friendly and helpful - going the extra mile without us even asking. The public and hotel bathrooms are super clean and well maintained. Same with our hotel room. The bed was extremely comfortable with the best duvets we ever slept under. Guest WIFI is free. 5G coverage excellent. They have a heated pic-nic room if you don't want to spend money in their restaurant with a water fountain nearby - all for free. Dinner menu - which was included in the night stay - was excellent. You could see that the cook had fun bringing a bit of variety and finesse to an otherwise rather simple but good meal. Only minor critique would be to not salt the pasta for the Aelpler Makronen at all. I'm aware that the bacon is very salty and it's true that the pasta then should be less salted. But cooking them without any salt at all was not really to our taste. Otherwise it was great. Breakfast buffet is solid with tons of croissants, good bread and enough variety. Having a good coffee machine there was a welcome bonus. For the price it's really great and you'll wake up 5 meters from the ski slope - ready to go. 10/10.

I am rating the food from the restaurant as I didn’t stay there. I ordered the goulash soup and an extra hot latte (I remarked this last thing to the waiter twice) Soup Portion size was a bit small for the price ( I know it’s Switzerland, but still) and the coffee was cold. At the end you paid for the amazing view but food was not great in flavour either

I didn't stay there overnight, but the service was very good at the restaurant and the food was delicious. I would reserve beforehand though, as me and my godmother did, because there are a lot of tourist up there. There's also a buffet, but the tables are different for that, they don't have für on them, but we ordered from the menu, so I don't know what they offer. The restaurant had a vegan menu, which was nice for me and my godmother as vegetarians and vegans respectively. They also had Swiss dishes, like Rösti or Raclette, which made us happy as Swiss people. We would definitely recommend the Rösti with Raclette cheese, it's delicious! The Streusel with Rabarber and Berrys was also very good. I would also recommend, if you're also eating outdoors, to wear warm enough clothes even if they have a blanket on the seats. The view is stunning from there, so the money and the cold is definitely worth it though!

Everything was delicious and there wasnt anything that I disliked. You have to try the local dish, I forgot whats its name, the macaroni and minced meat. Wow that was good. The service was very good also as well. We were attended by a male server who was from Germany.

STAFF MEMBER YELLED AT MY KIDS AND SCARED THEM! We went here today with our kids aged 5 & 3. Got them the kids fish and chips and everything was great, we were seated right away, the server was kind and sweet, she brought the kids activities for the table, food was delicious, everything was great until we were packing up to go. There were people on the table behind us and there's little space between the two rows of table to our side, so I put the kids where there was space, so they're not in the servers' way. They stood there quietly all tired waiting for us to grab our stuff until a male staff member came and started YELLING at them to move! I was stunned that an actual adult was speaking to children that way! They were there maybe 5 seconds! My kids moved right away and even after that the AH kept going on speaking loudly to himself about them standing there. He was loud enough for surrounding tables to notice and look up. Everyone heard him and saw him tell at the kids. We were right there, he could've asked us to move them instead of addressing children directly in such manner. I was shocked to respond, but after a couple minutes I waited for him to come around to say something and when he didn't, I approached our server and let her know and even she said that she saw and heard everything and he shouldn't have spoken to kids that way and she apologized. I wish I had asked for the manager. I'm hoping to send an email as well. Hopefully no other kids have to get yelled at when they go here. If you don't want to deal with kids, then don't offer a kids menu. That experience completely ruined our day.
