I loved my stay in one of the dorms, the bunks were very comfortable and food was delicious. Everyone was very friendly, and the location is of course stunning. Watching the sunrise over the valley was magnificent. Fun to feel part of the region's history.

We hiked from the First chairlift station to the Berghotel Faulhorn for a quick lunch in early September. The hike is quite steep from the Bachsee lake, but certainly worth it. Service at the resturant was excellent, food was very good considering you're at the literal top of a mountain, and views were stunning in every direction. It was such a delight to find such hospitality at this elevation!

Lovely restaurant on top of faulhorn, we popped in for a drink and enjoyed the view. Staff were really lovely. Quite expensive considering coffee was instant and coke was not cold but still a nice experience after a hard uphill

I felt like I had to leave a review after seeing some of the negative ones — my experience here was wonderful! After hiking up, I was warmly greeted and given all the info I needed. Dinner and breakfast were included, with assigned tables that made it easy to meet new people and share a meal together. Then it’s off to your cozy hostel-style bed before waking up to one of the most stunning sunrises in the Bernese Oberland. The food and service were both great. Yes, charging your phone costs 1 CHF, but considering how remote this place is, I was amazed they even have power, restrooms, a kitchen, and a washroom at all. I’d definitely recommend Berghotel Faulhorn and would happily stay again. Thank you for making my trip so memorable!

Today I hiked up to the refuge from Axalp to enjoy the most beautiful view of many +4000m mountains. I bought a Coke (7 CHF) and, finding the interior charming with a beautiful view from the window, I filmed for a few seconds. The manager came outside and, in front of everyone, asked me in a harsh tone why I had filmed the view without asking. Very weird way to interact with a customer. As a paying customer and a discreet visitor, I felt humiliated by this reaction, especially since I was genuinely happy to be there. A shame the welcome did not match the beauty of the place.

Charming mountain hut at the original 1830 location, nearly 200 years old. Exquisite 360 degrees views. Modest rooms and decent food, but mind the short beds.

Do not come here for a stay - Please make the hike though. We got no dinner here, and no water! They are in no way welcoming guests after a long hike. The lady running this place seems to be diabolical and crazy. She seems to enjoy to make the guests feel bad, and she runs this mountain hut hotel as if it were a boys boarding school from a 70s horror film (so if you are making a horror film, maybe come to experience this for inspiration..) As we arrived, she was intensely scolding some hikers as if they were her students, not hotel guests. Imagine having a reservation, arriving up at the top of a mountain after an entire day of hiking in scorching heat, and getting no dinner and no water.. ? We had to pay 10 Swiss francs for a bit of water. We have been to most of the huts in the Grindelwald area, and they always provide water, usually for free. (These are huts for hikers, after all!?) Also, other huts are run by people who will actually treat you with kindness and make sure you get dinner when you've made a reservation, haha. So many kind people in all the other huts we have been to! This Berhotel Faulhorn is the worst of them all, and the most expensive - it is simply not worth it. Sorry, Berghotel Faulhorn, but we are not sorry! You have given us a terrible experience. Hopefully a nice human being will take over this place one day and make some room for humanity, kindness, and good times for weary hikers. When that day arrives, we will come back here. Wish all of you hikers a safe journey.

We had a great stay! Rooms are rustic and quaint. No central heat but we were provided with hot water bottles and warm blankets. We stayed warm on a night when it snowed! Water is for washing and there are water bottles for purchase for drinking. Dinner was warm and very good! Views alone are worth 5 stars!
